Seahawks trade Percy Harvin for future draft pick. Wonder if this provides Phil a chance on the active roster?

Lions promoted TE Jordan Thompson from the practice squad.
The Lions are without both Eric Ebron (doubtful, hamstring) and Joseph Fauria (ankle) this week. A 2013 UDFA out of Ohio, Thompson will back up Brandon Pettigrew on Sunday.

Awesome. He and Carrie were two of my favorite Bobcats. It's great to see both doing well.

Thompson beats the odds
12/21/2007 OhioPreps.com

While Ohio has long been one of the top states in producing college football talent, rarely does a player from one of the Buckeye state's smaller classifications earn a scholarship to a Division I college. Jordan Thompson defied the odds and has earned multiple scholarships as well as interest from several other Division I programs.

Another one of those darned two star recruits.

GREAT NEWS!!! I'm glad he persevered and didn't let the injury he had last year ruin his dream.

I came here looking for news on Bates and I am extremely happy to see JT get promoted. I hope he does well and secures a permanent spot.

I just saw the highlights from the Lions game. JT had a ball go through his hands that was picked off and almost returned for a TD. I hope he can redeem himself next week.

TJ Carrie just had a big pass breakup on 4th down. Got a nice Ohio University shout-out on the play too.

He is doing well enough to warrant a jersey on the NFL pro shop

Part in there that says something along the lines of "rookie TJ Carrie had his most complete game of the season, while the rest of the defense looks confused and unsure of where to be"

Would you stop that deity garbage? Your putting Solich and staff on the highest possible pedestal is so extreme as to make one wonder, well, for the umpteenth time: please state your relationship to the staff.

It could be that the coaching helped TJ. Or the coaching could have held TJ back--was he ever first team All-MAC?

I don't know at all which it was. But your viewpoint is over the top beyond cloying.

Otherwise, I'll start coming back here again with my taste of reality about most of the play over the last 27 or so games.

Don't most college coaches get some credit for their former players successes? Why, Monroe, do you get so upset when bcat2 points out that we have good coaches and that they do a good job with a number of players? In fact, I think Ohio has more players in the NFL now than at any time in the past and we've had more players drafted in the last several years than ever before. I'll let bcat2 talk for himself, but I do know that he's not related to Solich or any member of the Ohio coaching staff. But, he's proud of Ohio, and I like that. And, I don't believe he, or anyone on here, has ever said that Ohio is perfect; but, like me, I think bcat2 is an optimist and likes to emphasize the positive. We all know the negatives, which you and few other skeptics have told us about over and over. I don't get in their faces every time they (or you) post a negative observation. In fact, I occasionally agree with them, and say so. That doesn't mean that I've given up on the team, or that I don't see reason for optimism. Go OHIO!

He's about NEVER posted anything that is not glowing.

Do you find that it's been nothing but glowing over the last 2.5 years?

Show me a post of his that could be other than something that our p.r. department would produce.

In contrast, I've posted some positive stuff (see pre-season and post kent game this year) along with the reality that many of you find to be negative.

They're talking about TJ in the same group as Mack and Sio Moore out in Oakland. If he keeps working hard I see a pro bowl or two in his future.

And, to top that off, how did we coach up D2 talent to such lofty heights? ;-)

Nothing at all wrong with posting positive. What--you don't like the tribute-to-OUellette thread?

It's the ONLY attributing good to the current staff that irks. Our record over the last 27--includes some really bad OOC and bottom-of-MAC competition--could plausibly be argued to be less than stellar. Given this, to hold the staff as deities is not particularly credible.

When a poster's comments could have been written by a P.R. staffer from Ohio Athletics...

TJ was hurt at the end of the Raiders-Browns game today. Looked like a back injury he got when he was defending on a pass reception by the Browns. He had his back to the QB and was at an awkward angle facing the receiver, and might've been fallen on. He was taken out and wasn't the return man when the Browns punted later. He was able to walk off under his own power, so let's hope it's minor.

BTW, CBS listed his college as "OHIO." Kudos to them.
