I remember a very cold day after THanksgiving where the Bobcats controlled their own destiny and a win would send them to Detroit.

Instead a team that had nothing to play for other than pride curb stomped the Bobcats chances for that Detroit trip and instead the Redhaks made the trip and won the championship. Of course tomorrow's game isn't being played in Kent and Cardinals are not Flashes..

Go Bobcats! Already have my plans for a Michigan road trip so please take care of business Friday.

Should be interesting. In MAC play, both teams score 31 or 32 ppg, but Ohio gives up only 14 ppg (best in the MAC) while BSU gives up 36 (11th; only Kent is worse). BSU kicks a lot of FGs (13, 2nd in the MAC) and gives up a lot of TDs (33, only Kent has given up more). Ohio still hasn't given up a first quarter TD this season and has given up only 12 TDs in seven MAC games.

Ohio should control the ground game; best in the MAC on offense and defense while BSU is 9th on offense and 7th on defense. Passing might make the difference; BSU is first in the MAC in passing offense while Ohio is first on defense (Ohio is 9th in passing offense and BSU is 11th on defense). BSU is averaging 14 more ypg in penalties than Ohio (57 to 43), even though they've had about the same number of penalties (40 for BSU, 39 for Ohio).

Very interesting stats! Thanks for providing them.

Does anyone know how many players we lost to the portal going into this year?

GO BOBCATS

Besides talking about overall numbers of transfers, which include both starters and depth, let's talk about the returning starters we have, not including the bowl game:
Offense: Computes to 2.08 starters back
Titsworth - 12 games
Atkinson - 11 games
Hendricks - 1 game
Dennison 1 game

Defense: Computes to 1.92 starters back
Weaver - 11 games
A. Williams - 9 games
Parodie - 2 games
Henderson - 1 game

Note: also on the roster were Brawley with 9 starts and Wood with 3 starts, but both have been out all season, so count them as extra coaches...

If you looked at any team, and they said they would have 2 starters back on offense, and 2 on defense, you wouldn't expect much, and you certainly wouldn't expect them to be in the running for the championship.

But, it's important to realize that it's not just transfers that made the difference. Players who were on the team last year have stepped up... and not in small numbers. Consider Navarro, Harris, Hendricks, Weatherspoon, Dennison, and M. Williams on offense, and don't just focus on the transfers, Heidecker, Tyus, and Owen.

On defense, it's the same thing. Sure, we have transfers in, like Leake, McNaboe, Doggette, and D. Johnson, but we also have players who have stepped up, such as Henderson, Taylor, Parodie, Walker, and Pearson.

The coaches have done an amazing job of assessing their needs, going out and finding players who can fill those needs, and then uniting all those players to focus on a common goal. This has been an amazing season to watch. This team was not very good against Syracuse or Kentucky or Miami, but as the season has progressed, week by week, they have improved.
Overall number was around 55 players from last year that did not return for one reason or another.

That sounds about right, and it matches up well with the list I have of incoming players.

Transfers from P5: 7 (Crawford, Dennis, Lewis, Doggette, Pugh, Tyus, Mack)
Transfers from G5: 7 (Blankenship, Brennan, Collier, Garfield, J.Johnson, Walker-Burgess, Konopka)
Transfers from FCS: 6 (Cisse, McNaboe, Bruno, D. Johnson, Leake, Owen)
Transfers from Div II: 4 (Allen, Heideker, Guffey, Rice)
Transfers from JUCO: 7 (Hale, Shumpert, Maldonado, Rodarte, Lemus, Poulos. Bob)
Scholarship Freshmen: 16 (Bowman, Mathis, Brune, Hurst, Miller, Morton, Haskins, Dorwart, Thompson, Erby, Parson, Anstead, Segarra, Ehret, Startz, Kelly)
PWO: 7 (Borer, Stuewe, McDole, Nowinsky, Cremascoli, Ohle, Canning)
Other Walkons: 3 (Meadows, Matheny, X. Willaims)

The total of the players I listed above is 31 total transfers, plus 26 Freshmen, for a total of 57. This list might not be 100% accurate, and I don't claim to know which ones have scholarships, nor which ones are receiving NIL money.

My bold prediction-Ball St will come out slinging the ball and will score a TD in the first quarter.

A cold windy game, favors a team with a good running game, and makes life more difficult for a team which relies more on passing, and that is even more true when the wind is gusty.

Based on the ticketing portal on our site, it should be a solid crowd given it's a cold Black Friday with students on break. Enough to be a presence and a decent atmosphere. Like Temple in 2009.

TONS AND TONS of tickets available at Bowling Green.

Bold but inaccurate. Twelve games, 12 first quarters without giving up a TD.

That’s 1023 yards for Coleman. (So far)

1146 is OU’s All-Time Record.

Rams coach probably licking his chops for a late round pick.

The headline for this team, for this game, for this season, is Ohio's first-quarter defense. Zero touchdowns allowed and, by my quick count, only 15 pts on 5 fgs. That's computes to 1.25 pts per first quarter. Unreal. Have today's CBSSN announcers made any mention of this?

Edit : naturally, Ohio defense gives up a TD immediately after posting this.

I really hope he gets it. Hopefully we go up 35-7 by 4th quarter and let some backups play. Hunt Jr and Poulas in particular.
