Ball State is not playing for anything, last home game of the year, bowl game, add in possible poor weather. These issues will make it very difficult for them to overcome. I will also be interested in seeing how they play this Sat vs BG.

Isn’t it bring your dog to Peden day on Friday?
They didn't do that this year. Which is a shame.
Albin mentioned on the coaches show last night that Friday will be year 3 for Pups In Peden.
Thanks for the validation. For an old, retired dude way up here in Chicagoland, I do pay attention.
Also announced by Brian Smith during the coaches show - Caleb Gossett has earned a scholarship. Smith and Albin both said this was a decision made prior to the Toledo game. Gossett was the player guest on the show, and learned of the scholarship when announced on the show.

Most of the coach's shows are streamed on the Ohio Bobcats twitter page (and available afterward)

Gossett comes on for interview around the 30 min mark. Smith comes on next around 42 min mark.

BG is hammering Ball State late. They played hard early and kept it close. I’d expect they will come out strong on Black Friday, too. Ohio can’t let them have any hope, otherwise they might stick around.

Awesome. He certainly showed his merit for earning a scholarship with how he played in the Glass Bowl. Great news all around.

. . . Hopefully the athletic department has some promotional ideas as well.
I would not bet the kitchen sink on that!
The department does a pretty damn good job of promoting games - in most sports.

You're still holding out for a personal shuttle, I presume? And if they do pick you up, do they need to sign you out?
In my many years as a lurker on this board, I’ve enjoyed, in a perverse sort of way, the back and forth between you guys. I’ve come to the conclusion that deep down you really have a lot in common and could probably be good friends if you got together at Jackie Os for a beer.

No truer post has ever been shared in the history of BA. May I suggest SBH and OCF meet up this holiday weekend in Athens?

I’m in San Luis Obispo, California, at my daughter’s for Thanksgiving, and won’t be back until a week from tomorrow. So, it won’t work this weekend, but it would be nice to put a face to this screename. Maybe something could be worked out before a basketball game. In fact, maybe this could be a twofer and I could meet you, too, Bobcatsquared. Perhaps, JimLurker34 had a good idea. Unless, of course, it turns out to be a horrible idea and SBH starts a bar fight.

A word to the wise; ol' oil tanker OCF still has an unpaid, and growing, tab from the old G&W Club days so get the bar paid up front. Swabbies on liberty!!!!!

When evaluating this statement one must consider the credibility of the source — an old dogface grunt who once considered attending Miami!

I think I'm going to skip the first half of this one and go straight to the second since this game so early and lately its a feeling out process through the first half. If we are going to lose it or win it my bet is on half two.

And to think, if we beat Ball State at home on Friday the Bobcats will be 9-3 and going to the MAC Championship vs Miami or BGSU.

Who had that on their bingo cards? And possibly another 10 win season?

Certainly not me, considering we lost like 99% of our offense. Kudos to Albin and the staff for bringing in transfer talent and having them peak at the right time. Honestly, Albin should get MAC coach of the year without a doubt.

Go Bobcats!

Undoubtedly an excellent job in getting the team to perform at this level with so many replacements needed for proven performers, but the nod might go to Buffalo his year. They were 3-9 last season and currently have a 8-4 record this season. We'll see.

Whoever wins the MACC should probably win. If it’s Miami, Martin’s team would have came back to win 8
straight and it’s tough to win 2 in a row in the MAC, Albin losing his whole offense and BG having a pretty good season-they’re on an upward trajectory with 2 close games against top 15 teams

Bundle up Friday. Temps in the low 30s, snow flurries likely,10 mph winds puts the wind hill in the mid 20s. The ball probably feel like concrete and might be hard to hang onto for runners and receivers.

ESPN has Ohio favored now by 17! Sounds like a lot to me with the pressure on us and the weather conditions.

This team is rolling. They’re going to come out with focus, take it one play at a time and earn a trip to Detroit.

Does anyone know how many players we lost to the portal going into this year?

Many BA'ers have access to good data. I did see, on one of the ESPN games, we lost 34 players. That total probably includes graduating players as well? In addition, the MAC overall had 320+, which tells the obvious story of what we will just have to get used to. Albin deserves COTY.

At least 13 to power four schools. That doesn't count all the other conferences and lower division schools.

GO BOBCATS

Besides talking about overall numbers of transfers, which include both starters and depth, let's talk about the returning starters we have, not including the bowl game:
Offense: Computes to 2.08 starters back
Titsworth - 12 games
Atkinson - 11 games
Hendricks - 1 game
Dennison 1 game

Defense: Computes to 1.92 starters back
Weaver - 11 games
A. Williams - 9 games
Parodie - 2 games
Henderson - 1 game

Note: also on the roster were Brawley with 9 starts and Wood with 3 starts, but both have been out all season, so count them as extra coaches...

If you looked at any team, and they said they would have 2 starters back on offense, and 2 on defense, you wouldn't expect much, and you certainly wouldn't expect them to be in the running for the championship.

But, it's important to realize that it's not just transfers that made the difference. Players who were on the team last year have stepped up... and not in small numbers. Consider Navarro, Harris, Hendricks, Weatherspoon, Dennison, and M. Williams on offense, and don't just focus on the transfers, Heidecker, Tyus, and Owen.

On defense, it's the same thing. Sure, we have transfers in, like Leake, McNaboe, Doggette, and D. Johnson, but we also have players who have stepped up, such as Henderson, Taylor, Parodie, Walker, and Pearson.

The coaches have done an amazing job of assessing their needs, going out and finding players who can fill those needs, and then uniting all those players to focus on a common goal. This has been an amazing season to watch. This team was not very good against Syracuse or Kentucky or Miami, but as the season has progressed, week by week, they have improved.
