OldKatz--you'll have to introduce yourself to me, but it appears we know one another? Mr. Dirk handling coaching duties.

Big trip planned with my son:
Thursday night: Twins vs Indians (originally scheduled so we could meet Nick Swisher pregame, then of course he gets traded after I had made flight plans)
Saturday AM: Father/Son Relay Road Race
Saturday Afternoon: Bobcat Bash & OHIO vs. Minnesota
Sunday: Vikings vs. Chargers
Monday Night: Chiefs vs. Green Bay on MNF!

Here We Go!

I know this may not appeal to everyone but I really enjoy this commercial The U has out for their student ticket packages:

It's weird and random and awesome!

I just finished reading an article from the MN paper.
This entire article was all about the team and their troubles, injuries and perhaps more important their loss of confidence. The fans are also upset. Kill talks about being fired yet he says there is no AD to do the firing. It's been quite some time since I read an article like this. I don't know if Kill is over exaggerating the situation or not, but this is a real problem for him and the team.
I remember the Penn State game, where the team and the fans were so emotionally worked up that football was back, and it's time to put the scandal behind them, that they expelled all their energy in the 1st half and had nothing left in the tank for the 2nd, and we all know what the final outcome of that game was.

The Gophers are vulnerable, and we need to take advantage of their mental state.

The fans and media's reaction after last weeks win shows how far the program has come when it comes to expectations. People are very down because we were a contender to win our division coming into the season but we just haven't played like it yet. Like you said you guys need to take advantage of our mental state and you do that by getting off to a good start defensively so our offense starts to think "here we go again" with our struggles. This scenario is quite possible. But when it comes to the schedule it's not about who you play as much as it's about when you play them and all the frustration in the program right now could have the opposite effect of the scenario above where the team says enough of this crap and plays lights out. I'm not sure if you guys are playing us at the best time or honestly if you're playing us at the worst time. That's why this game is so intriguing, I just don't know what to expect.

Wow. Way fun.

Any highlights or our victory over Minnesota back in 2000 available anywhere?

So, no webcast this week, except for people that have the Big Ten Network, and who therefore don't need a webcast because they can watch it on cable?
There's Watch BTN: http://www.btn2go.com/schedule
According to the information on btn2go.com, you must have a TV provider that carries the BTN network in order to watch the game online.

You can sign up online for an online BTN Plus monthly subscription, BUT you can not watch football games online. The only way that you can stream football games is if you have a TV provider.

This is their message -
"Please be advised that there will not be any football coverage offered with a BTN Plus subscription as you will be required to log in through a TV provider for access to those games."

Here's a long forgotten fact. Solich's name has been mentioned as a possible Minnesota head coach twice. The first time was back in 1997, a year before he became head coach at Nebraska, when Solich was a finalist for the head coaching job at Minnesota. In the end Minnesota went with Glen Mason. Mason was a good coach for Minnesota, and his 64-57 .535 winning percentage at Minnesota is the best at Minnesota since 1944. Kill, at 25-26 .490 is not far behind, and could pass him in another year or two.

The second time Solich's name was mentioned in connection to Minnesota was in 2006, after Mason retired. It was rumored that Minnesota was again interested in Solich, but it never moved beyond the rumor stage, and Solich remained at Ohio, and Minnesota hired Tim Brewster, who went 15-30.

How our defense plays may well decide the game. There probably won't be a lot of big plays, so field position will likely be the key. We might even need a defensive score or two.

In a field position battle punting is important, too. Minnesota has an excellent punter. Bonnstetter was very good last year, but has struggled this year. He needs to have a good day - 34 yards a punt isn't going to be helpful in a game like this.

I always thought if Solich would've jumped back into a Power 5 conference program, Minnesota would've been his landing spot. I don't think he would've done too badly there, either.

Arkley twitter indicates he is still sporting a sling, and most likely will be out for several more weeks, though he still doesn't know the specific injury:

I noticed Wood is still listed as the starter at RG in the game notes. I hope that's accurate (although unnecessarily burning Pruehs's redshirt in garbage time against SLU would be a bummer).

It looks like the depth chart actually is updated for the first time since the first game.
