Minnesota has the #1 rated Pass defense in the country according to Phil Steele:
http://www.philsteele.com/fbsinfo/2015/15passeffD.html They are #7 in pass efficiency defense, per the NCAA
http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/40 (Ohio isn't bad, at #37)
Meanwhile Vick is #7 in the country in Pass efficiency
http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/individual/8 Some comparative stats:
Total Defense:
Minnesota 301.7, 4.15 yards/play, 16.7 points/game
Ohio 327.3, 4.77 yards/play, 17.3 points/game
Total Offense:
Minnesota 347.4, 4.51 yards/play, 16.7 points/game (59% passing, 41% rushing)
Ohio 443.7, 6.65 yards/play, 33.7 points/game (59% passing, 41% rushing)
The primary difference seems to be the "explosive" pass plays that Ohio has had. Those have boosted Ohio's pass efficiency and yards/pay, as well as points/game significantly. Can Ohio get any of those against Minnesota's vaunted pass defense?
