Its just a shame that Vick didn't play, and that it was not his choice. Thats a very weird thing to do to a player that has given 5 years to the program and earned the starting QB position two years in a row...
That's a very good point. Although it was a close game, why not give a senior QB a series in his final game with Ohio? Especially given how foul the offensive series were (see my post in "Fitting Ending")

You 're joking, right?
If that were true, they'd be starting Irons. You really think they're listening to the few loud fans that keep repeating the same old things. You probably don't know Frank very well.
Nobody does, if we look at Vick's tweet. Only three fans call for Irons, are we watching the same site?

He beat NIU? No way. The bum you folks have been making him out to be could not have won a big game, Beating NIU would mean he is a MACC type QB. If he just beat NIU, damned straight he was OK as a pick to go in the bowl. Or you could go from stats, like you all are blowing up Mr. Irons with, pretty sure Sprague was the QB efficiency leader. Oh, and there really are only a few who show up every damned day on a crusade about how unworthy the coaches and players are. Every damned day, second verse same as the first.

JD Sprague threw as many TD passes against NIU as Greg Windham did, what's your point? The defense was the reason Ohio was able beat NIU, not the QBs. They limited their mistakes, that's it.

Right you are. Sprague/Windham are a tandem capable of beating the MAC's best given a championship defense. Defense Wins Championships. Ohio is just about there. Give us Poling and Lowery all healed up next fall and watch out.

Sprague has the arm strength of a junior high school quarterback and Windham is not accurate. We beat NIU because they were down to their third string QB and our defense played great. Spragu has overachieved, nobody thought in a million years he would start a D! game and I see why. He has a feeble arm. I am proud of him, but Ohio needs a better QB period. Sorry coach ?

2014 vs BG Sprague 27-56 325, 92 yards rushing. Next year's OL will be much better than the 2014 group. I think they can get it done. Merry Christmas.

It does seem odd to me that we have not been able to recruit a top tier (MAC level speaking) QB in Frank's time here-even by accident. I would acknowledge TT in his first year as a starter as one of that level and even in his first few games in his junior year. While I want all of our players to be successful in life and wish them the best after graduation, there really has not been anyone that has been painful to lose to graduation. Maybe that's the system the coaches prefer but QB play is just as important as ever, if not more than ever before in present day.

I feel like just about every program less say EMU has had at least one QB in the past ten years who was at an NFL level in talent (even if that is more athleticism than say QB ability).

Some that come to mind:

-Keith Wenning, BSU
-Dan Lefevour, CMU
-Charlie Frye, Akron
-Julian Edelman, Kent
-Matt Johnson, BG

Is it our offense that keeps us from getting high end qbs? I just want someone who, when the game is on the line, wants to put the team on his back and will us to victory. I'm sure everyone on our roster now desires that, but do they really have what it takes both from a physical talent and mental fortitude standpoint?

If one of them start, we will not be bowl eligible. They will not meet our mediocre standards. We need a top tier QB if we want to win the MAC and they are not it.

Ohio will be bowl eligible next year because 1) our schedule and 2)it doesn't take much to be bowl eligible. Our QB situation, however, will keep Ohio from being a top-tier MAC team and reaching the MACC.

If you listen to bcat2, Ohio is always the next-game-away from being THE best team in the MAC with the best player at each position in the MAC. Next. . . . . game. . . . away.

Depends what you mean by "somewhat." He's an ardent fan, does that make him somewhat affiliated with the program? In that case you and I are also somewhat affiliated with the program. Why do you and Monroe keep insisting that he's Frank's nephew, grandson, etc., or on the payroll of OHIO? He's neither.

I like how you pick the 2014 game instead of the most recent example against BG in 2015 where he went 10/24 for 162 yds, 1 INT and 50 yards rushing in a 62-24 blowout. I thought the line was supposed to be better in 2015 than 2014 too?

I would have preferred Vick get the start, but OK, Sprague played well enough late in the year. There's not a lot that separates the two.
But when Sprague got hurt late in the game, to go to Windham instead of Vick is indefensible, even if he truly was 85% healthy.

Your really going to stick with the line about how great N.Ill is? A true freshman QB that hadn't played who the announcers and national write up said was actually the 5th string QB. Clearly they were not very good at the end of the year due to injuries, not nearly the same team as past years.

No no no... you can't have it both ways Monroe. If injuries aren't an excuse for Ohio, then they can't be an excuse for NIU either.

Not only that, but we were playing our own 3rd string QB as well. NIU's starting QB went down during the game, and that somehow diminishes Ohio's win? Why?

I like Vick. He was loyal and represented our program well.

But

I always thought of him as a basketball player who was playing football. Not very physical and not a great throwing arm. Underthrew a lot of receivers in his career and lack accuracy.
