There are questions that certainly need answered. Julie and the Pres seem close. I saw them hanging at the game. I’m still sick that this is the situation Ohio finds itself in. Lost a great coach kept that AD.
Yes Valley Cat it should be the other way around. Keep the great coach!

Anyone that has questioned why albin did not ride the bus home, go look at the Facebook page Ohio Bobcat PrOUd. His wife posted evidence of the vet receipt & said “it was too emotional to handle alone.” That’s one question answered. Anyone that said horrible things about him not riding the bus home should be ashamed. A lot of you don’t know all the facts. It all should be investigated.
The whole family was drinking in the suite. 😂 Tori was posting. Whole family was in Charlotte 12 hours later. What are you even yappin about? No one cares about the dog.

What should be investigated? Mean messages about the guy who interviewed and accepted a job BEFORE THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME? lol

Miss Albin with all due respect. Log off.
Was coach albins family not supposed to celebrate Tim accomplishing everything he set out to do??? Also, super weird you follow Tori & are hating on her family. Also not Miss Albin… close friend :) but nice try lol. Get a life and stop being so obsessed with their family. Weirdo.

There are a bunch of posts on Ba about the strained relationship between
JC and Albin.

As I posted, if Albin loved O.U. like people have posted, what happened
to make him pull up his stakes and leave ?
The relationship became strained because she showed no respect to the man. How do you allow the 2 time MAC Coach of the Year, one of five coaches to win 10 consecutive games three consecutive seasons and no MAC coach has won more conference games than Coach Albin the last four years to walk out the door?

It is you, and a few others, stating with no actual facts, that the relationship was "strained". If that is FACT, they WHY did Albin, virtually every time he was on the air, thank Cromer and Gonsalez?

Your posts seem to be merely conjecture.
Virtually every time on the air he complimented Cromer and Gonzalez because that is the quality person and coach he is. If you listened carefully he also praised his staff. As I mentioned before he was the sixth highest paid coach in the league as per USA Today Oct. 2024 story. I will give you Candle at Toledo and Martin at Miami as being longer tenured and top paid at over a million. But do you actually think Coach Albin should have been behind McElwaine at CMU, the WMU coach and the new Buffalo coach? What are you smoking? Why wasn't this deal done last season in the spring or summer after coming off back to back 10 win seasons? Something never accomplished in Bobcat history. The AD probably figured after seeing Ohio lose over a dozen players to power four schools in the portal that the Bobcats would only win 5-6 games. The AD continued to drag out contract talks until after the season began. After Coach Albin won all those games this season, it was only then that she started to ramp up negotiations. It came back to burn her.

Perhaps you have forgotten, but Ohio started the year with over 50 new players that had to be molded into a team. Game by game they improved. Yes, there were rough spots early on, but by the end of the season, this was a very, very good team. Hate on Albin for leaving, if you want. Hate on Cromer, too. But, don't deny that this was a team that improved a lot, one that significantly outperformed expectations, and one that put in a lot of special performances in must-win scenarios. If you don't want to credit Albin, you should still credit the players who accomplished that improvement, and who won a MAC Championship. They deserve better.

Feel free to believe that Ohio is a P4 team, and that they should win every MAC game, and a world where a 30 point win is not good enough to be a "good win". Some of us enjoy every win, and understand that while Ohio can be better than an average MAC team, they can also be worse than average.
LC- pay no attention to B-Love. Coach Albin is in very rare company with only four other coaches winning 10 or more games in three consecutive seasons. No MAC coach in Coach Albins four years at Ohio has won more league regular season games. B-Love doesn't recognize greatness.

Oh, so the problem is she only offered him his second raise is 12 months in exchange for doing his job well? What a terrible boss.

You all are straight up grasping for straws. Sucks he's gone, but every attempt to blame Cromer sounds dumber than the last. Give it up.

I hold no ill-will toward coach for leaving. He is free to do want he wants and I'll be rooting for him at Charlotte. I also do not question, nor have ever seriously questioned, the fact that the family dog was sick. But I don't buy that's the main reason he got off the bus. I also don't think that coach Albin intended for it to go down the way it did. I suspect that he intended to address the team in the morning but was notified by Charlotte of the leak. It had been leaked. One poster was already posting what he knew about it then on their own board. He didn't know how to handle it at that point and chose maybe one of the lesser of only bad options available to him.

I hope you have a nice day. I hope your friendship with coach and his family continues. But nobody is going to buy the dog story. They just aren't. Sorry. Even if you were inclined to accept it the location of the exit and where he was seen afterwards pretty much rule the dog story out. I think that if coach wants to keep the respect of Ohio's fans and his former players the best thing you can do is put the dog story to rest. Seriously, it is a insult to their intelligence at this point. That's my advice anyway.

So, what is your approach to retaining coaches? Negotiate a new contract with any coach after they have a decent season? You wanted a new contract negotiated after last year apparently. Well, we started this year 4-3. Had we finished 6-6 or even 7-5 would you still feel he deserved a new contract? 9-3 is a great year but he had already agreed to accept the offer at UNCC before the Miami game. I disagree this came back to burn Cromer. She can't be renegotiating a coach's contract every year. If that's what you think is preferable, then a coach could just as easily lose his or her job as expect a nice pay raise if they are successful.

That rich, successful people often times lose sight of context and try to play victim over what were almost certainly minor differences in contract terms.

They didn't like the terms of one contract as much as they liked the terms of another. That's fine. But at least own it and stop with the victim nonsense. Honestly, between this and the dog nonsense the Albins need to do like 6 minutes of reading up on PR best practices.

"We loved Athens and Ohio University. Thank you so much for the last 20 years. It's been home, and we're glad we got to play a role in bringing the MAC Championship back to Athens. We talked as a family, and have decided we wanted a new challenge, and the opportunity at Charlotte was just too intriguing to pass up. Thank you, we love you, etc. etc"

Instead, it's all weird excuse making about sick dogs and being forced. Dude was offered the chance to be the University's highest paid employee, overseeing a program that loses money, and goes to bumf*ck North Carolina to play a boring bowl game which will just lose more money in exchange for the best season in decades. A little perspective would help.

The University treated Albin perfectly fine. Stop with this nonsense.

My god this lady is insufferable. Go away. We get it, you got a new gig in a new place. Go to Charlotte already. Such victim mentality for a family making a really nice living coaching football. Did she watch @Syracuse, @Kentucky, or @Miami? The entire defense quit in Lexington. My god, her husband was lucky to have a job after October, much less be offered an extension. It’s great, he won us a MAC Championship with a depleted roster in a depleted conference, but let’s not pretend we are nationally relevant or any further along than we were during the Solich years. Nobody forced him out, he just didn’t get an extension offer when he thought he deserved it - so he made his choice. What she won’t admit is that her family just left millions on the table with a bad business decision because they jumped on a lousy Charlotte job instead of waiting for a bigger P4 fish to catch. Congrats on Charlotte, go down, be successful, and let’s all move on. In this topic - I support Cromer 100% for not backing up the brinks truck for this guy. The MAC is so bad, we will be totally fine no matter which direction we go.

The truth as I have been telling you all along. The administration disrespected Coach Albin one too many times. See above. The agent wasn't permitted in the room. If you were not valued at your job and disrespected over and over, would you want to stay around in that environment. The administration will have a very tough time getting another person to win as many games as Coach Albin. Check back in four seasons and see if the Bobcats will have a MAC coach of the year twice, a coach who has won 10 games in three consecutive seasons and a head coach who was second to no one in wins in the conference the last four years. Besides all that the man is a great person. Name another head coach that volunteers to be timer for the MAC Swim Meet, attends soccer matches, shows up for volleyball and baseball games. He also encouraged his players to attend these events. The man was a great ambassador for Ohio University. If a coach accomplished all that Coach Albin accomplished, you would think that the administration would be elated and he would be rewarded. The man wasn't all about money either as evidenced by his sixth highest rated pay in the conference. Look at other universities in the league. Toledo rewarded Candle and Miami rewarded Martin. Ohio failed to reward Coach Albin. It is amazing that his salary rate was below the first year coach in Western Michigan who had a five year deal. He was paid less than the new coach at Buffalo. The truth is that the administration just allowed an outstanding individual and great coach to walk out the door.

Could probably find a lot more like this if you had the time.

Who knows, maybe Albin hasn't been happy since not getting a sweet contract after year 1.... And now that he's in the drivers seat he drove off.... Maybe long gone presidents and board members didn't want to spend the money. Maybe Julie Cromer didn't like Albin's dog.

None of us know. But, there's probably a lot that went into where we are now. Not just the current AD disrespected Albin or she alone refused to hand over the right amount of cash.....
If you actually read the post I was agreeing with, you would learn it was about eliminating the bush league cowboy hats and boots and other ridiculous sideline antics of our strength and conditioning folks early that season. And, yes, that stuff disappeared real quick. No doubt our AD made that call. Did she disrespect Tim by telling him his sideline looked like a Buffalo Bill Cowboy Show?

Glad you brought up the Cowboy hats. This was after the Syracuse game in '21, which was Albin's first game. I immediately said they were ridiculous and half the board said they were the greatest thing since sliced bread until we got trounced at Louisiana after FCS Duquesne beat us at home. I think the Cowboy Stampede went away before the Northwestern game, but not before all of Bobcatattack was crying about how much energy and enthusiasm the Cowyboy Rodeo was providing. Saying the sideline was like a Buffalo Bill Cowboy Show was generous, it was a total circus.
