Let's just focus on supporting the players, coaches and staff tonight and kick Akron's a$$.

Interesting we have no line yet unitl Akron names the starting QB.

I wish I could make it down.

Should be a peaceful night for the fans in Section 106. I won't be there so the so-called Bobcat Fans can sit on their hands and continue to make it a morgue-like game experience.

After all these years, I thought I had seen it all in Athens until the HC Game when I was asked to lower my voice. Classic!

Let's go boys! Make it happen!

Wow reading this thread I would never know we are playing tonight for an opportunity to go to the MACC.
We could be like Kansas or Texas State.

All we have to do is take care of business against a struggling Akron Team.
I am very confident the team will get it done.

GO CATS!!!

He's the one comparing Tim Albin to Texas' OC saying Albin is better. But I'm the one that needs to get a grip.

Ok.

Got it.

Actually, no. It was Allen that started the comparison, saying that Ohio should hire the Texas OC. Bcat2 gave a legitimate observation that the Texas fans are not very happy with their OC, and that against a common opponent, Kansas, Ohio put more points on the board, and did it with presumably less talent. I can't argue with that.

Let's put the regular bickering aside for a few hours. Go Bobcats. Beat the ovetshoes.
I agree. The bickering is getting old when we rehash the same argument. But I'm going to defend myself here.

This is what bcat2 fired away with, unprovoked in a different thread.

The accomplishment yesterday was inspiring a 1 win Kansas roster which even lost to Monroe's & B44's "mediocre" Ohio to beat the state of Texas's lead program.
Bcat2 did try to compare the two, going to the degree of saying Texas would rather have Albin

Likely Texas fans would swap for Albin right now.
And then proceeded to back it up with, of all things the Texas State game where Ohio scored 6 points in the first half under Albin's leadership

B44. Hold your focus please. We are discussing the OCs here. Vs Texas State Albin's play calling scored 54, racked up 630 yards averaging 6.3 per play over 97 plays. Texas State was not on Albin
I've done my best to ignore his remarks most of the season, but when he calls me out, I'm going to respond.

Plenty of blame to go around, but I just want the facts to be clear.

In closing, yes... Go Cats! Beat the hell outta those damn kangaroos tomorrow night.

I want to drink at Ford Field next Friday
And who was it that brought up Texas State?

I did! I have no problem admitting that. Ohio's offensive showing vs TxSt, especially in the 1H was dreadful. 6 pts vs that team?

For you to say Texas would rather have Albin as an OC is absurd. Part of a long line of your blind support of this coaching staff no matter their shortcomings and deficiencies.

Let's hope they open things up tomorrow vs an Akron team they should have their way with.
Right. Scoring 54, 630 yards averaging 6.3 per play over 97 plays = "dreadful."

Again, you want to hang the Texas State loss on Albin, me, not buying the crap you are selling.

Again, go ahead find a Texas fan who prefers their OT 21 points to Ohio's 37 which, would have been a win. Again, me, not buying what you are selling. Lived there. In Texas, losing to Kansas, one of those things that wipes away all the atta-boys you have built up. Just focusing on the points you are making.
Talk about pot calling the kettle black.

So you say, for Texas fans, it's totally unacceptable to lose to Kansas. But for Ohio fans, we should give them a pass for losing to Texas State. OK. Makes sense.

And yes, Albin offense did pile up points and yards... In TRIPLE OVERTIME. Had that juggernaut scored more than 6...a DREADFUL 6, in the first half they could have put away a horrible, terrible Texas State team and overtime never would have been necessary. So yeah, he needs to assume some blame.

Again, you are the best. Again... And again... And again.

What's your excuse going to be if they don't handle Akron tonight?

Go back to Texas. I'm sure someone like Rice or TxSt or SMU could use your participation ribbon speeches on their message boards.

And just some "points I'm making" that you can focus on...

Albin's juggernaut offense.... National ranks in conference-only games...taking out your Texas St domination (where 13 plays & 70 yards of your stats came in the 3 OTs BTW) and KU & GW wins

Ohio
95th total offense
73rd yards per play
108th total plays
98th total yards
96th in pass yards
72nd in rush yards

Juggernaut.

Obviously Texas would rather have that.

Not much in today's ABJ about the Akron QB situation. Chapman would seem to be out given his neck injury last week. So the question is whether Woodson can go this week. Else, it's WR Tyrell Goodman at the helm. My rule for Ohio Football in November is first one to seven wins. Hope it's the Bobcats. See everyone there tonight. Stop by at Jackie O's before the game and say Hi.

From Pat Forde's column, under the heading non-rivalry games that will decide stuff:

Ohio-Akron and Ball State-Miami Ohio (35). These games will decide the MAC East title, and the right to lose convincingly to the West champion in the league title game. Miami has become one of the better in-season stories in the nation, rocketing from 0-6 to 5-6 since quarterback Gus Ragland returned in mid-October from a spring ACL tear – Ragland is undefeated and has yet to throw an interception. But the RedHawks still need Ohio to lose to win the division.

Dash picks: Both Ohio and Miami win, sending the Bobcats to the title game at 8-4.

Hope he's right, at least about tonight and not the MACCG.

Also, he had this, although I would call WMU-Toledo a rivalry:

Toledo-Western Michigan (31). The Broncos are 11-0 and still haven’t even clinched their division yet, because the 9-2 Rockets have remained in dogged pursuit. Winner takes the MAC West and advances to the league title game, and with a victory WMU would remain very much in the hunt for a New Year’s Six bowl bid – likely the Cotton Bowl. This also is a matchup of the No. 2 quarterback in the nation in efficiency (Toledo’s Logan Woodside) against the No. 3 QB (Western Michigan’s Zach Terrell).

Dash pick: Western Michigan 41, Toledo 35.

I'm happy to report that I was able to give away all of my tickets for this one to people who can attend. I'm sad to say I can't make this one because of travels for the holiday. This shapes up to be a lot like the Buffalo game. The teams are about even offensively but Ohio has a decided edge on defense. Akron's real weakness is its rushing D (worst in the MAC) but it has one of the better pass defenses in the league, on par with Buffalo's. Oddly enough, we picked Buffalo's pass defense apart pretty well. Akron's edge could be the extra time off. As we found with CMU, teams on a slide often use the extra time to get their heads in order. But Ohio has more on the line with this game, so I think we should score 30+ on Akron and come away with a win.
Further, given very poor weather conditions I expect these four/five year seniors to display the toughness they are known for. Poor weather conditions = Smith, Reid, Belack, Mangen & Morgan, Morgan, Brown D., Brown C., Irons all dial up their OL mindset and both teams score less and this comes down to blocking and tackling. Ohio's toughness wins out.

I note that only Houston scored more points against Texas State than Ohio did. I note that 6 of Texas State's foes held Texas State to 14 points or less, while Ohio gave up 56 to them. Yes, Monroe, I see your point. The data clearly establishes that the loss was the fault of Ohio's offensive coordinator.

For what it's worth, I haven't visited any Texas chat boards, but I tend to think that Bcat2 is probably right that Texas fans aren't happy with their OC after losing 3 of the last five by scores of 24-21, 24-20, and 24-21. Most teams these days average about 30 points a game, and if the defense can hold the other teams in the low 20s, you expect to win.

But enough of this - it's game day. Go Bobcats!

And your football cred is priceless. Ha!

46 plays
266 yards
6 points
First half vs mighty TxSt

Bury this dreadful team in the 1H and they go away. Instead, just like Kent, Miami, BG, EMU, CMU... sputter along and keep opposition in the game giving them chance to win.

Defense is very much culpable for TxSt loss... but lot of pressure could've been avoided if offense stepped up early.

Confidence is worst thing you can allow opponents. OUr offense has been doing that for years.

You can count on one hand amount of games where Ohio comes out and just smokes a team the last few years. Too much skill on that side of ball to sputter. OC seems like logical choice to place blame

...and yes, UT fans certainly aren't happy and people seem to understand and recognize that here. But when OUr fans show frustration and disappointment they are persecuted. Funny how that works, huh?
