Will be there with my best friend who happens to be a Purdue grad. Got to win this one.

For folks who work, Friday night games stink IMHO. And mid week nights are worse.

According to the article, alcohol sales could start as soon as the home opener on Friday, September 8th when Purdue hosts the Ohio Bobcats.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.hammerandrails.com/platf...

I know that Ohio is a dry university but this would be a welcome addition to my trip.
OU is hardly a dry university and having to have a beer to go to a game is pretty sad. Is it a nice thing to have - yes - but a necessity. I don't think so.

Your impeccable sense of sarcasm is truly amazing.

Who said it was necessary? I'm going either way.

I was going to go to the game but then I found out it didn't start at exactly 2:00PM EST on a Saturday with a 72F temp, clear skys, and a slight breeze from the SW. And no, before you ask, a slight breeze from the NW is NOT an acceptable substitution.

Its like, I want to be a fan, but if everything isn't perfect for me then I don't see how I can be, y'know?

I strongly appreciate the sarcasm here. There is a statistically relevant % of this message board that seems to enjoy complaining about how inconvenient supporting Ohio is for them personally more than actually finding pleasure supporting Ohio.

Google Maps Drive Times:
Cincy to West Lafayette
2 Hr 47 mins
Cbus to West Lafayette
3 Hr 39 mins
Athens to West Lafayette
4 Hr 50 mins
Cleveland to West Lafayette
5 Hr 13 mins

With those drive times and an 8 PM start, you don't even need to take a full-day off work Friday to make the game. You could easily take a 1/2 day and still make the game. While not everyone is in a situation to take a 1/2 day, I know more Ohio alumni my age who are willing to take a 1/2 day, stay 1 night and return without "losing their weekend" than people who would otherwise drive out Friday, stay Friday, game Saturday, stay Saturday night, drive home Sunday.

It's all what you make of it. In plus a quickly growing handful.

This made me spit out my coffee. So dang true.

I never thought I would get some of the responses that I got here - I will prepare myself for when the Bobcats are playing for the MAC Championship on a Friday night and the peanut gallery complains about how cumbersome a weekday drive to Detroit is.

I get what you're saying, but you complaining about their complaining is just as bad as any of the complaining. People have preferences and lives that I can't understand, so to each his own. You can make it, some can't.

You and your Google fails to account for construction and friday rush hour traffic. If you are coming from Athens you have to maneuver the Columbus rush hour, the gauntlet of construction all across 70 and then the Indy rush hour....good luck in 4:50 in an Athens to West Lafayette on a Friday evening.

For traveling from Athens, I'd recommend going 33 over to Fort Wayne and then jetting across Indiana if you're worried about construction. 33 is as turn it loose as it gets when it comes to flooring it. Problem is from Fort Wayne to West Lafayette is a bit of a mess. Fortunately I'm coming from Toledo for it so not as bad. Regardless, I'm actually pumped to get on the road for this one and will try to get some tailgating information for spots near stadium from my rep there.

Yeah, a Friday game kills any chance of getting to that one for me. It's a shame. I was looking forward to it.

You got to be kidding me. The only option is pick up at Purdue Will Call window? If that's the case, I'll order directly from Purdue web site where the tickets can be mailed to me.

Just ordered two tickets online via the Purdue website. I will be receiving e-tickets a week before the game. No hassle standing in line at a Will Call window. I ordered in Section 104 along the OHIO sidelines, if anyone else wants to join me. Go OHIO!
