I know it seems like a world away, but it will be here sooner than we can imagine.

The Bobcats will travel to West Lafayette, IN to take on Purdue on FRIDAY, September the 8th.

Last year, I traveled with 8 other current students/recent alumni to the Tennessee game and we really had a blast with the other Ohio fans that made the trip.

Due to it being a Friday night game where many "casual" Ohio fans may be more willing to commit to the trip, I think a lot of people will be willing to make the 3 hour drive from Columbus.

Not sure how to go about organizing a trip like this, but with $19.00 tickets - I think the potential for "Bobcat Takeover" where we aim to bring several thousand people over is possible. We will know soon if the 110 is making plans to go -that would help.

There'd probably be a lot more Ohio fans making the trip if it were a Saturday game rather than Friday.

I plan on tailgating there. I am getting my travel schedule ready for 2017 and that is on my trip list. Only 4 hours down the road for me.

I think the Friday nigh component helps travel - most casual Ohio fans are Buckeye fans when it comes down to it and wouldn't want to miss a big Tosu game - I think they play Oklahoma that day.

Last year wife's birthday card had Ohio vs Kansas tickets. This year Ohio vs Purdue tickets will be enclosed. She enjoyed living in Indiana. Oh, this casual Ohio fan, not an OSU fan.

I was there the last time Ohio went to West Laf. Wasn't much of a game because Purdue had a QB named Herrmann, although the final score wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (24-0). Had a fun time because one of my former Ohio roommates showed up for the weekend. There was an Ohio parent sitting in front of us who didn't believe some of the stories we told, even though they accurate (if not totally true). I doubt that I'll be there this year, tho. My son's HS team will likely be playing that night. Have fun.

Love this idea. I'm planning on making the trip. I was at Tennessee and Minnesota the year before. Thousands of Bobcat fans would be incredible.

Cheap tix, short drive, a beatable B1G opponent, and solid college town! BUY BUY BUY

I'm planning on coming. +2

I believe I mentioned in another thread about this game that it'll be a sentimental trip for me. Back in the day, I was there with a dear friend, now passed away from an illness related to his service in Vietnam, and my late father. The score was 17-0 in favor of the home team, with Bob Griese scoring all 17 points -- two TDs, two extra points, and an FG. It was, you might say, a one man show.

I still have the program for that game. I may scan the cover and ask Ryan to post it, as game day draws nearer.

Agreed. When this game was first announced, I reserved two rooms close to the stadium for Friday and Saturday night with the plan to drive over Friday afternoon/evening and a full day of fun of Saturday, just like Tennessee. A five hour drive from Athens or 3;45 from Columbus on Friday pretty much washes that idea down the drain. And who is that guy who said casual OU fans are Buckeye fans? Ugh!

That drive on a Friday evening can be more than that considering you have to manuver through Columbus and Indy on a Friday evening both 70 and 65 can be a parking lot at times.

Yep - TV just ruined a good road trip during high school Friday night football. :(

And how many tO$U fans or other MAC programs fans would post this concern? Hardly any....

If OHIO fan base priorities limit OUr fan/alum etc turnout for a potentially beatable P5/B1G opponent within driving distance of MANY - then we got more problems than I ever imagined....

Most people have to take time off work to make the trip, even if just half a day. Others may have to miss a loved one's high school game in order to go. Some people can't do those things.

I'm sure many Ohio State fans would have those same concerns for a Friday night game. It's just that there's so many of them that there still would be plenty left who'd be willing and able to do it.

O$U won't even HOST a Friday night game unless it's during fall break: http://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football/2016/11...

And when the O$U-Mich game was moved to Thanksgiving weekend, some people had to choose between family events and the game. In some cases, family won: http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2010/11/22/...

According to the article, alcohol sales could start as soon as the home opener on Friday, September 8th when Purdue hosts the Ohio Bobcats.

I know that Ohio is a dry university but this would be a welcome addition to my trip.
