My question is can we sign him during the early signing period.  I have seen way to much buzz about him online with Providence having hosted him recently and St. Johns being all over him etc.

Can he sign during the early period as a JC?

I wonder if there's any chance he takes a redshirt year this year to preserve a 3rd year of eligibility.  I remember talk of Anthony Allen doing that.

It's probably unlikley but it would be nice to get 3 years from him and further balance the classes.

There's no freakin way this kid "redshirts" this year...his game is far too advanced.  And Monroe CC wants his services as well, since they are one of the top juco teams.

Agree completly, though it's still nice to see so many verbals!

I guess we'll only get to NDour two seasons of Maurice then.

Last season at Monroe, he averaged 9.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.4 blocks and 20.8 minutes per game. He shot 56% from the field and 71% from the line. Monroe finished the season 33-4.

To add to that, despite being 5th on the team in minutes played, he was 1st in blocked shots,  2nd in rebounding, as well as 1st in field goal percentage.

With the other recruits, I guess Coach Christian decided to load up before winter.

That's awesome. This kid looks special that's for sure!

I agree with this.  Getting all of them officially signed will be a big recruiting day for JC and staff.

Isn't the early signing period beginning soon? Next Wednesday, perhaps?

Gotta get this young man's signature on an OHIO LOI.

Blown away by some of the quotes. Mature beyond his years. Can't wait to get him signed and in a Bobcat uniform.

Talked to Maurice tonight, he said the team is 2-2 so far, but that the freshman are learning quickly. Sounds like he's off to a great start individually though. But love his team first mentality.

After shooting 1-10 in their 90-49 loss Maurice came back to shoot 10-15 for 26 points and 9 boards in their 10 point loss to Snow College.  Snow College is where our new guy this year (Wilkins) went.

Now through 9 games, here's how Maurice is doing:

24 blocks
16.0 PPG
8.2 RPG
80% FT
51.9% FG

All this in just 23 minutes a game.  He fills up a stat sheet.

Wow.....the Suckeyes have a center that shoots 15% at the free throw line......this kid  might be OUr best 6'9" player since John Rhodes or Deveraux.....just to have someone who can envoke those names is awesome.....a guy who speaks 5 languages and is just learning how to play basketball......Christian seems to be a coach who can recruit big men.....at least it looks that way so far.

In a brief exchange with Coach Christian a while back, talking about Kadeem, he said, "You can never have enough big men". He's sticking to that with next year's class.

Tony Jiminez of Basketball Times, considered one of the nation's top authorities on JUCO basketball, rates Maurice as the #7 JUCO player nationally.  That's impressive.
