Ted - Are you going to the tourney Sunday?  My client is the guy who runs it and he graciously gave me a pair of tickets and I may need partner in crime if you're interested.

Yes. I was planning on trying to hit the games from 4:45 on. At 4:45, Wingfield plays. At 6:30, Sonny Johnson is coaching Garfield Heights. At 8:15, Illinois big man commit (and former Ohio target) Maverick Morgan plays.

Been wondering, was there a step up in competition when DJ switched schools? If so, is that the reason for the transfer?

Yes. DJ switched from a D-3 school in a conference with a bunch of other D-3 and D-4 schools, to a big D-1 school. There was also a coaching change at Lockland which contributed to the switch.

I went to the game and was impressed with Wingfield. He led all scorers for most of the game. Went to the bench with foul trouble at the beginning of the 4th quarter and Isaiah Johnson took over. Wingfield finished with 20 and Johnson had 23. Walnut Hills ended up beating Roselle (NG) Catholic (ranked 35th in the country) 70-61.  Roselle had Syracuse commit Tyler Roberson who finished with 9 points.

It's quite a tourney. When I got there, I saw Matta and Boals watching Justin Jackson (HCYA from Texas) and VJ King (Akron St. Vincent - St. Mary). Jackson is amazing BTW. Dayton's Archie Miller was there for all the games. Aaron Fuss was there representing Ohio and Jamall Walker from Illinois (to watch Illinois commit Maverick Morgan in the last game). Just tons of assistants from all over. But the biggest buzz of the night happened when Calipari entered the house to watch Springboro and Prime Prep (#4 team in nation from Texas). Cal was there to see Prime Prep PG Emmanuel Mudiay who is ranked the #3 player in the 2014 class. During timeouts, Cal would summon people forth from a long line that had formed to kiss his ring.

Sonny Johnson's (Juby is his assistant) Garfield Heights team beat Dayton Dunbar in a great back and forth game. I think Sonny got a bro-hug from Coach Cal afterwards.

CatsIllustrated.com's evaluation of Wingfield's performance:

A 6-foot-5 wing with a college ready body and an all-around skill set, Wingfield is is seeing his reputation skyrocket this season. The Ohio University signee has the rare ability to make his teammates better as a distributor, has the body to score around the basket and can create mid-range shots around the basket. In playing his final HS season with a whole new level of passion, Wingfield has solidified himself not just as a MAC player, but a potential star at the mid-major level for the Bobcats.

I was there with Ted, and while I would trust his report more than mine because I was distracted by my 2 kids...I would lay the praise on DJ even more than Ted...He is pretty awesome.

He had a big time game the other night with 26 Points and 14 Rebounds!  Walnut Hills now ranked nationally I wish we had his teammate Isaiah Johnson (Akron) coming to Ohio as well.

I am excited about him!

Probably our most heralded recruit since Cooper.  I really think we are going to need his scoring next year.  This could be a huge signing for Christian's first class and is the type of guy that some bigger schools are going to wish they had recruited harder.  Their loss is our gain.

Saw DJ play in the sectional finals last night. Walnut Hills coasted to an easy win.

Walnut Hills basically tries to fast-break every time they get the ball. They push the ball up with four guards and look for a quick shot, if they can't get it they wait for Isiah Johnson (Akron commit) to lumber down the floor and they throw him the ball on the block where he is unguardable at the high school level.

DJ handles the ball well, showed a good mid-range game and rebounds well for a guard. He didn't look to shoot from the outside very much I don't think that's really a big part of his game. If I had to compare his game to a former Bobcat right now I'd lean towards Whitney Davis.

On the other hand, Isiah Johnson is a dominant force at the high school level. I'm not sure how that will translate to the MAC though. He doesn't run the floor very well, and his defense consists of him standing with his arms up near the block.  On the offensive end though, he has a great touch around the rim, clears out space very well, and can even step out a hit a mid-range J. Reminds me of Jeremiah Wood a little bit, but taller. If he gets in shape he will contribute for Akron.

Walnut Hills beats Springboro 52-46. They'll play LaSalle Friday night for the right to go to state. Was following on Twitter so don't have stats but sounded like Wingfield was in foul trouble throughout.
