In my experiences, borna is right about that. It's not usually schools trying to poach good players from other schools. It's usually the player, or actually often their parents, who decide they want to go somewhere else. Of course, there are OHSAA rules that require a player to sit out half of a season if he transfers for athletic reasons, but that can be hard to prove, especially if a family actually goes so far as to relocate. In regard to open enrollment, it's something that was not put in place for athletics. It's designed primarily to give kids academic options, which is a good thing.

I grew up in Reynoldsburg and it was common there to get a kid whose family moved from a Columbus schools area to one of the Columbus apartment complexes that is Reynoldsburg schools to play basketball.

first, I shouldn't have said that there was recruiting going on in this particular situation, just that it is the kind of situation that is ripe for it. Second, I know that open enrollment was put in for academic reasons, but that doesn't mean it's not abused on the athletic side. Third, I wouldn't take what parents told me at face value without a lot of collaborating evidence.

Nice looking recruit. I watched his team play in INdy vs maybe an Iowa team. Smooth and fun to watch in the open court. disclaimer.....I am not a professional so take these comment with due reservation.

He better commit soon or we'll have the 2016 class locked up the way Saul's going.

At this point he's enjoying the ride and aiming higher.

He is going to that team up North's game against Ohio State this upcoming week. Iowa, West Virginia, and Xavier are also on the map of interest. He injured his thumb last week.

I know I'm not alone in wishing he had stayed in Athens. The Bulldogs have a very thin bench but gave Akron SVSM a real run for their money this year and led late in the game. With Ibi at the 2 it would have been interesting IMHO. Also could have used Saltzman on the roster. Looking forward to seeing the Bulldogs make a run in the post season but depth will be an issue.

Pickerington Central advanced last night with a win over Columbus St. Charles. They await the winner of Dublin Scioto and Dublin Jerome on Friday. Ibi had 5 points.

Pick Central lost to Dublin Jerome 76-68 in OT. Ibi had 18 points in the loss to lead P.C.

Two other players Ohio has looked at with no offers had good games as well. Jalen Tate scored 15 and Rodney Culver had 14.

Anyone hear where Ibi will play his senior year next year? I've been hearing some rumblings, but nothing more. Pick Central had a mediocre year this season, at least by their recent standards.

Couple of thoughts...
Has been playing great as of late in AAU ball and generating interest from Minnesota and Indiana. As good as he has been, with Treg moving on that year, I would have to think we are gonna need a big anyway. Just seems to be a shame to miss out on a (Athens) local athlete...

Maybe it just wasn't meant to be. To use a Lebowski quote, “How ya gonna keep ‘em down on the farm once they seen Karl Hungus?” Or, more accurately, How ya gonna keep ‘em down on the farm once they seen Columbus?

Ibi was listed in high school program this winter at 6-6, but I suspect with a haircut he's more like 6-4.

Easily taller than 6'4". Saw him over break and he's easily taller than Burrow and the Twins.

Can't wait for the backlash on this one since he was originally a hometown kid.

Every kid who grows up in Athens should go to Ohio. No matter what. They are not allowed outside the confines of the city, ever. Fence them in!

Well, I'm sure you're referring to me here... but the truth is he didn't go to ohio state or another MAC School, so frankly I couldn't give two sh***.

On the other hand, since he's no longer an OHIO recruit, he's no longer relevant on this board, so... nothing to see here. move along.
