I think we will be fine with rebounding over the next several seasons. These bigs may be stretch guys but that doesn't mean they can't mix it up inside. Plus, they have nice low post moves offensively.

Good quality depth with bigs is important for rebounding. Keep fresh legs in there and also you have people to share fouls. Looks like we will probably have that.

These guys are 6-9, 6-8, 6-7. If they were 6-5 tweener types I might share your concern.

Also, we are recruiting good size and athleticism on the wings and that will help with rebounding.

Only part of rebounding is height. We've had some tall guys that couldn't rebound and have seen plenty of mid-size guys that could really board (Jerome Tillman anyone?). and as Jeff said these guys aren't short and definitely have some girth. I have no idea if they are rebounders though.

Still hoping they can find a way to bring in Justyn Hamilton if he wants to come. [/QUOTE]The only way that happens is if someone leaves, or the magically clear room for him. There aren't available scholarships for 2017 as far as I can tell.

I agree. Taylor and Dozier are big guys supposedly around 6'9" that have had a full year in the program to get better and stronger. Carter has apparently impressed, and we'll have two freshman bigs at 6'7" and 6'9". I think they'll be fine.

Double/Double indicates hustle, some decent degree of skill, and determination - whatever the level of league. Like.

Welcome aboard Ben!

I'm excited to see him at SF... Looks like nice shooter, just hoping he can translate those drives to the Div. 1 level.

FYI, Ripon basketball seems to have had a little controversy with regards to stats:http://www.thenorthwestern.com/story/sports/high-school/b... /

I believe his father is the coach. He looks like he could be a quality back up in the next few years. His running will make you think of Still Perdue but 4-5 inches shorter. He will need to tone up and improve his athletic ability or he will just be a practice guy. Carter looks miles ahead of him as far as handle, post moves and athletic ability. The good thing is he is a coaches son, so he may come in very skilled. As it stands, he may be the most unathletic recruit that I have seen come to Ohio in a long time. We will see, AJ might be the best in the class. We have to get better at recruiting, coach may be nice, but we have to get better.

That first video in the thread is almost like a different player than the one that Taiwan BC posted (he sort of looks like his back hurts or something in the 1st one). It seems he made huge strides from the Summer between his Soph & Jr year to his Jr year regular season. If he continues to make progress athletically and with his body I don't think we have to worry about his ability to contribute. He's probably 17 years old and still growing. I'm sure he will be in much better shape by the time his freshman year rolls around and will be ready/able to contribute.

I hope so, I keep getting flashbacks of that Martin Episode where they put Air Gordon in. We have been spoiled with people like Leon, Jerome, Reggie, Brandon and Tone, I hope we continue to get dominant Big Men.

Confused by this as well. Can't really judge a recruiting class until we actually see that class in Bobcat uniforms and performing for a few years.

We've also had the mysteries of Ivo, the health issues of Wadley, the first slow couple years of KVK, Ken Ottrix, Johnny Jackson, etc.

Like last year, I'm anxious to see how the new Frosh and Soph's influence the season over the next couple years.

Not only that the only real evidence we've seen of Saul's recruiting has been positive. Hard to judge on the late class he brought in the first year but last year's freshman were pretty impressive and I see a lot of the same positives that Jordan Dartis and Gavin Block displayed in the guys being brought in this year and next.

I saw a lot of positives from Doug Taylor as well. Before he tore his ACL in high school he was a high D1 kid. We got a kid who will be Tone in 2 yrs.

Wow. Gotta be the quickest we've filled a class with 3 recruits. Excited about direction of this program...

On Vander Plas, I'm encouraged too by his other offers. Some good basketball schools. Hard to believe that this many Div I coaching staffs would have gotten fooled in their evaluation of this young man's ability and upside. These other staffs apparently were sold on Ben, just like Ohio.

I am not seeing the lack of athleticism, allen. Guess we will just have to agree to disagree.

It was interesting to read that Memphis was one of the schools that offered him, but he did not consider them one of his finalists.

The kid will come in with a high basketball IQ and skills. From the video, I can't see hem playing the three or guarding the four and at 6'7" and severe lack of jumping ability, it will be hard to get his shot off or rebound. I agree with a previous poster, his body tone can change. I don't know about the running. When recruiting, you don't go by offers and the offer from Memphis was a lie, you go by what a kid can do in your system and Congress and to me, he would be the most unathletic four in the conference and one of the shortest.

It is obviously apparent Ohio isn't going to have a true "3" under Saul and I think that is why so many posters around here are so excited.

It doesn't take a D-1 basketball coaching mind to understand what Saul is trying to do. If you look at what Saul is trying to do, then look at the players he has recruited, the overall "fit" of all these kids is absurd. We're going to play TEAM ball and when you've got a whole bunch of 6-7 kids who can shoot from 3 and they all have high bball IQ, the ball movement is going to create a lot of good looks for all these tall guys.

you said it best yourself...

Saul's ND teams were set on this exact premise. I am excited at the prospect of a starting lineup in a few years of 6-8 DT in the post, 6-4 Butler at point, 6-2 Dartis at the 2, 6-6 Block at the 3 and Gareri at the 4. Then you can mix and match Culver from the 2 to the 3 or Ben and Carter from the 3 to the 5. So many lineups you can have...it will be fun. Will be nice to have some big shooters akin to Kretzer and MacAdams. Tall guys who can shoot.

Man the Convo looks so nice with all the seats looking the same color. I never realized how much of a difference it makes until I saw it in person and see it in pictures.

Ripon with two D1 players. Luke Loewe commits to William and Mary. He was featured in one of the videos of Ben.
