That 'Frank - style' statement was more toward the big league BACK to a smaller league at a point in their life ( I know Jim is younger) that they may retire at this level. No thought given to their records, or why they went back.

@ OCF...Frank was fired. He did not "come back in level" on his own.

Question: If someone asked you, going into this search, "Would you hire the winningest coach (%) in MAC history if you could?", what would be your answer if you didn't actually research the answer?

It comes with a lot of questions and needles and pins, but it's starting to grow on me.

Sounds like Bradds was going to do this no matter who was hired if their name wasn't Ford. I'm sure JG will have to re-recruit the 2013 UI guys too if their contact isn't retained. In fact, all new coaches have to re-recruit their entire squad at the beginning.

Buckle up boys---this is going to be an eventful off season. Hot Stove League OHIO style with day-to-day drama.

Could still sign here, but me thinks major programs will get involved with this kid. He is a really good player and I don't even think JG being here would have gotten his signature on a LOI in the end.

I will say, Christian's Kent teams profile pretty closely to Groce's Ohio teams. Good defense, forces turnovers. Played slower than Groce's teams, though.

This has me a bit concerned. In his three years at TCU, wins went from 14 to 13 to 11. While losses increased from 17 to 19 to 22. Not exactly successful trending.

It's getting close to midnight. The day's almost over. If this is an April Fools prank, please tell us now.

Yes, I thought the same thing regarding Huggins. And if I remember correctly, he had a similar sideline demeanor. Less raw-raw and more of a hard nosed style.

Maybe someone should tell the writer that TCU will be replacing Missouri in the Big 12 next year, not facing them.

This shows how little media speculation means on a coach search. In many ways, it's not any more plugged in than what we're thinking. I seem to remember that many people on here were upset about the Groce hiring. And no, I'm not saying Christian will match what Groce did this season. Of course, there's a good chance no coach in porgram history will match what Groce did this season.

Yeah, I don't hate it.....just struck me as odd because it was someone who I don't think was on anyone's radar.

It might be that my initial reaction was to the hiring circumstances more than anything. Kind of threw me for a loop.

I'm trying to think of a situation where a coach left to take a step up, then bailed out of that job (on his own accord), only to return to the previous conference he coached in? With a different school?

His MAC conference credentials are hard to argue with. I don't put a ton of stock in to the TCU angle some are trying to play i.e. look at _____ (fill in the blank) stat, record, etc. from his tenure there. That seems like a pretty terrible situation, from a program building perspective. I think he was really fighting an uphill battle (one that was only going to get worse as they transitioned in to playing basketball in the Big12).

Mike, where did you get those stats? Ohio scored 70.2 and allowed 62.5 per game for a margin of +7.7.

Kind of some interesting circumstances surrounding his 3rd season at TCU (2011).

Sounds like Christian had that team turning the corner only to have it unravel due to some disciplinary issues with key players.
