When I was a part owner of Athens Cab, I discovered all sorts of unpaved nooks and crannies in Athens County. When you get into Vinton and Meigs, lookout. The bonus it is some of the most beautiful scenery in America.

Ricky Stokes was a great player for the Hoos in the early 80's with Ralph. He's now the Associate Commissioner of Basketball for the MAC. Nice interview with long-time Virginia sports writer Jerry Ratcliffe.

One of my favorite sports memories involves his brother Bobby. I was at the 1976 ACC Tournament at the Cap Centre in Landover, remembered mostly for Wally Walker's heroics. Stokes' part of it isn't that fond of a memory because I grew up a Maryland fan and he had a really good game to knock out my Terps. My Mom was a Dukie and really involved with the DC Alumni chapter so we sat in the Duke section. Almost the entire arena was rooting hard for UVa against both the Terps and especially in the Championship game against UNC.

Last night's Bloomington crew was Brad Nessler (play-by-play), Steve Lavin (analyst), Avery Johnson (analyst), Evan Washburn (reporter). That's why PBP was so good; Nessler's one of the best. For our game we're supposed to have Washburn along with Carter Blackburn and Bobcat grad Debbie Antonelli.

I would say that's more than likely. Next year we may get that wish.

Close by tournament sites for 2022: Indianapolis, Buffalo, Pittsburgh.

I agree. But if this were a normal year, the first/second round sites would've been the original eight -- Raleigh, Providence, Detroit, Lexington, Wichita, Dallas, San Jose and Boise. Against UVA we probably would've played in Raleigh, maybe Providence, Detroit or Lexington. We would've had better crowds in Detroit or Lexington but still good crowds in the other two.

Okay, best info is that Morsell travelled for UVA, he is a PG good defensive player taller than Clark! This would suggest that the Covid positive player is MCCoy a 4 who is decent defensively and an option when Huff gets in foul trouble! Syracuse coach and Boals said the Covid player came off the bench. This would fit Morsell and McCoy! For Ohio, if Preston is liability for UVA , we would have preferred Morsell not to be available. But just one B player . No big deal!

I think that is one of the best articles I ahve ever seen out of EA.

My wife (Glouster native and postal employee) assure me that there are lots of unpaved roads in the surrounding areas...jives with my friends that ride ADV motorcycles over there and the areas near Macarthur, Albany, Corning and such that we have fished, rode and hunted.

Pretty good article. Only thing I see that raised an eyebrown was regarding UVA. True that they only average 68 PPG compared to Ohio at 80 but that is a bit misleading as they only allow 60 PPG, most of the teams they have beaten also average 80

EA did a decent job IMHO on this one. A far cry from his normal treatment of all things OHIO

There are miles & miles of unpaved roads in Athens county - you just gotta get out there. One of the reasons I moved back to Athens County.

And BTW - Uptown Athens city streets are not "paved" :)

As well - OUr run to win the MAC Tourney and qualify for the big dance was not well paved - We took a challenging and rocky road, and then and arrived at the desired destination.

Jason Preston paved his own road to get to OHIO/Athens....

I agree the article was one of the better ones associated with the Bobcats for Alexander but his reference to his recollection that the only paving in the area was at parks and around Shade (33?) was high embellishment, even if it was 40 years ago or so since he was in the area. Today that statement is even more egregious. He needs to get out of Cleveland, Akron or wherever he is most of the time a little more often.

I was mucking around on Google Maps, as I am wont to do, and I saw there's a trail for the Moonville tunnel that goes all the way from Zaleski to Mineral and goes through two tunnels. I want to hike it.

I should add that as part of my translation I must have been thinking, per Pataskala’s comments, that he used “paved” instead of “unpaved” and I had omitted the word “left” too. Yep, botched that one all the way around. OK, I’m finished with my drivel on this now.
