Depending on where that coach is coaching, one in fifteen isn't a bad thing. He's solid. This is probably his worst year. If they recover yet this year, or next year, this is a non-topic. If not...who knows.
I was surprised to see a stat today that said Toledo has not been to the NCAA Tournament since 1980.

Anyway....

Are we confident there will be a game? Half the players and 2 coaches missed the EMU debacle last night.
Will anyone be upset about missing out on a trip to Mount Pleasant, Michigan if there isn't a game?
I guarantee the players want to play.

This is a game we have to not be over confident in preparation, BUT Central has been pretty garbage this year. I expect the over / under to be -15 or -20 for the Bobcats. I'm not sure if Miles will return for this game but will be interesting to see how the rotation goes. Schmock has been playing well for us and we could use him on the court. We have been fortunate to have great play from our bench guys.

Random fact: AJ Clayton is actually in my Public Speaking class this semester! Told him great game last night.
That's cool! Hope he seems like a humble guy.

If this game happens, look for how we do inside to be the key. In conference games, CMU is 11th in the MAC in field goal percentage (37.9) and 9th in opponents' field goal percentage (46.1). But they're first in 3pt percentage (36.8) and 2nd in 3pt percentage allowed (26.7). That means their inside game sucks, both offensively and defensively. On offense they've hit just 39 of 101 inside the arc (38.6%) while giving up 62 of 103 (60.2%). They're also a -3.7 in rebounding per game. They've been outscored in the paint 112-62 (EMU hit them for 50).

Ohio's stats: 44.7% FGs, 31.2% from 3, 54.1% inside the arc; 38.8% opponents' FGs, 32.6% opponents from 3, 42.6% opponents inside the arc; +1.8 rebounding margin; +22 pts in the paint (130-108).

And they haven't yet fired their Coach K.

Chris Kaman isn't walking through that door. Thunder Dan isn't walking through that door.

And on that note, Dan Majerle got a raw deal from Grand Canyon University. Four straight 20+ win seasons then they can him after going 13-17.

Wonder what happened with that lawsuit over his salary?

Back to the topic at hand, CMU, I'm pasting below the operative warning from Mr. McKinney:

"But with their talent level, they can beat anyone in this league on any night."

I am ready to multi-task my sports-viewing this Saturday while keeping track of both the Bobcats and the Bengals.

There are only two opponents I remember without looking up from my days in Athens and Dan is one. He whooped us good when OUr program was on the wane.

Went back and looked at the stats from that game. Hard to imagine a team shooting 17% from three and 32% overall and still only lose by three points, but Kent State managed it. Ohio has had some awful shooting games but hasn't quite reached those depths.

Games postponed per MAC Twitter. Doesn't say who had the outbreak.

Edit: CMU Twitter just sites health and safety protocols.

Our team twitter says the issue is with CMU.

Dang, we were probably just getting ready to board the bus. Unless another game in the conference is postponed, we have the weekend off.

Disappointing news with how well we've been playing!

Off-topic, but do we take the bus to CMU or fly? At some point I thought it was discussed that this was in the budget for some in-conference games but I could be wrong. After NIU, CMU seems like the most likely candidate for that.

I assume fly. We may also fly to Western and Buffalo. Bus gotta get to the airport though.

Women are still on at Central tomorrow.

From what I heard on radio show, they were flying.

Frustrating...but more time to prep for Miami which is going to be a difficult test.

Onward and forward.

If another game gets canceled, does that open the possibility of playing a different team on Saturday?

The short notice would make the travel logistics extremely hard.

This is true, and I do agree, but it feels like inconveniences are going to have to start taking place to get some games in.

Damn it, well at least I can just focus on our Athens boy Joey. Miami Dolphins 🐬 didn’t make it so go Bengals!
