A fun game is trying to find the most recent basketball thread on the CMU board.

Dumb question here: If they find out a game is canceled mid-air, do they turn the thing around with permission from flight control or are they required to make the entire flight there?

Do we fly into Mount Pleasant or, like, Grand Rapids and bus in?

I have many Central Michigan-related travel questions, like three-year old, for some reason.

Perhaps Boals and his staff will use the weekend off to take in some of the high school showcases scheduled throughout the state, including ones at Pickerington, Ohio Dominican University and Flyin' to the Hoop in Kettering. Lot of big name recruits to see and be seen.

Just where they want to be - in a gym with 100s of unmasked fans. Not happening.

Really?

Flyin to the Hoop? Guess we will defer to your informed opinion.... if you say it is not happening you must know.... Online access is available to coaches but my past attendance at Flyin...says most coaches flock there if they have targets. Pretty amazing how much the Coaching community has been able to use Online evals. This weekend is the Annual Hall of Fame in Springfield MA which has seen some teams pulling out with COVID and travel concerns. Will be interesting to see how the local showcases are affected.

Help is on the way. As one can see in this chart (below) prepared by Nate Silver using data from the NBA Covid protocols, players testing positive are falling substantially, just like South Africa, where the Omicron Variant was first noticed. I remember a couple of days after the first case was reported in the US, NBA players started testing postiive and within a few days it was off the charts. Now it is decreasing just as fast. By MAC Tournament time, this will be behind us. I am guessing all of the mask requirements will be gone as well.

Anyway....

Are we confident there will be a game? Half the players and 2 coaches missed the EMU debacle last night.
Will anyone be upset about missing out on a trip to Mount Pleasant, Michigan if there isn't a game?
It’s around the 44th anniversary of the blizzard of 78 adventure!

I'll take that bet. I agree with everything else you said except the part where government officials restore freedoms in less than 60 days from now.

Fun bus trip? Fun fact: PBS used to broadcast MAC games back then.

As late as the 1990s the only way to get MAC games in the DC area was through a public TV station (I think they broadcast mostly religious programming) in northern Virginia. we'd get about three Ohio football games and five or six bball games each season. I don't think they even had must-carry rights on cable, so the only way to get them was through an antenna.

I assume this means they'll be out of town all the way from Monday to late Saturday. But they'll be in Athens for a 10 day stretch preceding.

Do they pay Coach extra for tutoring?

Isn't there an academic person that travels with them? I thought that was Lori Freel (sp) 15 or 20 years ago

Brutal road trip. I would imagine we take the bus to Toledo, then take it straight to CMU followed by EMU?

That EMU game will be rough. There will be 5 fans in the stands, they will play their zone and we will be tired.

This is not the Rob Murphy-coached EMU teams of the past.
