We are awful in nationally televised games.*
*Apparently except when it's a tournament game.

I seriously think the loss of McDay is finally catching up to this team. He was the glue guy that did everything right and made the necessary plays when you needed it most. Was he the best shooter? No. Was he the best player overall know. But the kid knew how to win.

What happen to the effort on defense? Toledo, Toledo, Kent, Akron and ZIP from the boyz at the defensive end.

Another team that shows we do not have any 6-7 or 6-8 athletes to be at a high level. Towns is not doing it. Carter looks tired. BVP looks tired. We have no Freemans or Alis. Adding Hadaway helps us not.

How do you know anything about Hadaway? Adding a guy who is averaging 30+ doesn't help us?

1998 is correct. The top teams have 6 foot seven or 6 foot eight athletes much better than hours

This is on Boals. He knew, everybody knows, how to beat this team and he had zero answers ready.
Zero. This team has no toughness.

Clayton averaged 25 and 10. I know as much as you know. I hope he becomes an All-MAC guy. I doubt it.

I have said it before I won’t say it again, boals better step up his recruiting of athletic layers who can run jump and shoot

We are tired. The 6 man rotation has caught up to us. Clayton and Towns gave good minutes in the beginning of the season, why don't they get any run now?

Head coaches do not follow the analytics.
No way starters can stay on the floor and make up a 20 point deficit without help.
Towns, and Clayton and Izuma should have been put on the floor when the Bobcats cut it to 14. Gamble because 99 out of 100 games you'll lose when trailing that badly with under 15 remaining. Give the starters a break for a few minutes and hope the deficit doesn't increase then bring them back. Instead leave them out there and turnovers and easy layups allowed.

I don’t think any of those three guys would’ve helped against Freeman and Ally

So we're 0-3 on Friday nights on CBSSN.
Don't look now, but the semis in Cleveland are on Friday night on CBSSN.

He turned 18 last week and was pressed into a somewhat significant role, although not tonight. I look forward to your view on Clayton and Hadaway in a few years. Look, I don't totally disagree with you but you could have made your point without throwing a recruit under the bus for no reason.
Tonight sucked. There will be another day.

I would not be so quick with the criticism on Boals.
This league figured out how to defense us.
They realized if they hound Sears with double teams and collapse on him under the basket, he struggles to score and he has not been able to adjust to pass out to the open man. I do think this will be a point of emphasis for his development come next year.
And as someone else said earlier, we beat all the sub 500 teams this year which inflated our wins as well as our excitement for this team to go far.
While the year is not over we can still make it happen. Come tournament time anything can happen, and usually does.

These recruits make 100 plus grand for four years while I am still paying off my OU bills. They will survive my analysis.

We are a worn down team that peaked a while ago. Sure we can beat the MAC bottom feeders but it's going to be an extremely tall task to win this conference...it pains me to say it but it's the truth. Kent State is playing out of their mind. Buffalo is on a roll. We can't beat Toledo, and we just got smoked by Akron. Thoughts and prayers that we get it together.
Reasons why...
No McDay
No DW3
Lack of interior toughness
Teams figuring out Mark Sears (simply double team him)
Roderick's historically horrible season
I'll be completely honest, I'm surprised that we have the record that we do. It's truly remarkable.

It's insane to me that Mark Sears can't get out of a double team. It really makes me appreciate Jason Preston even more and how he was able to find the right pass when double teamed or in traffic.

This was really the only game that I can think of that ended with a whole bunch of fouls but we were really out of it and still doing it.
I think the fact that we keep getting blown out in our losses is going to keep us out of the NIT.
Buffalo could easily beat Toledo and leave a 4 way tie. That would be a split championship for all four teams.
It is hard to see us winning the tournament. We look tired from the compressed schedule. Our shooting is off. Teams know to get physical with us and double team the ball handler.
The good news is that it feels likely that Boals will be back and we can see what this upcoming recruiting class can do.

17 wins against Quad 4 teams.
There's your answer.
Not as remarkable when you really dive into the analytics.

Isn't it the coach's job to prepare his players for that?

It seems to me that the teams that win the tournament are the teams that are hot going in. That is not us by any measure.

There will be no 4 way tie. UB plays one less game than OU, UT and KSU. If those 3 tie, KSU is the #1 seed because they swept UT and split with us for a 3-1 record.

Those talking about how Ohio doesn't have the "athletes" to compete with Kent State and Akron: are you forgetting Ohio beat those two teams earlier in the season, and beat Buffalo 74-53 at Buffalo?
