Dear SBH,

Though his syntax is sometimes not exactly textbook, I've come to really appreciate his unique way of expressing himself.  He is, after all a CPA, and not a graduate of our esteemed J-school, as I am and I believe you are.  Therefore, I cut him a break on the syntax.  .....Why are we, as Doc said so well, circling our wagons and shooting inside instead of directing our fire outwards toward Oxford Tech, Temple and other unworthy scum?

Truly yours,

OCF

Having been a CPA much longer than Monroe, and having been tutored with tough love under some very skilled writers over many years in my career, I take ginormous offense at that.  Ginormous - that's acceptable for a CPA to use, right?

It's summer, guys. Everyone should relax a little, and hang on, Autumn will be here soon enough, and then you can root for the same team. Some people that post here tend to focus on the positive, and to be a cheerleader. Others tend to focus on the negative. There is always going to be conflict between those perspectives. There is no reason for it to descend to personal attacks. Me, I tend to be analytical, and don't tend to be on the positive or negative side, but between the two, I guess I think its good to have some posts on the board that serve no other purpose than to make me smile, and it can also be good to have some that provoke thought, so long as they aren't completely negative.

Now back to confessions - I have been a fan since 2005, and haven't managed to get to Athens yet. I hope this will be the year.

Yeah really, ease up on us CPAs.  I'll have you know...grammar is actually graded as part of the CPA exam, and contrary to popular belief, our jobs entail more than adding and subtracting dollar amounts all day.  I'd say CPAs are some of the more well-versed people I know.

Haha!! I was thinking of EXACTLY that when I wrote that post. Glad to see that I wasn't as obnoxious a kid as I remember.

Right guys; I'll bet the average CPA has just as good a command of the English language as the average engineering graduate!

Edit: This is friendly sarcasm intended to make you smile, not the be a great negative against any specific person, living or dead.

I don't understand the hatred toward Monroe. While his posts may not always contain the most thorough analysis of the finer points of the game they are always entertaining. Why does everybody have to take themselves (and others) so seriously?

I enjoy his posts and if you don't like them I suggest you scroll down to the next one. So much anger over a wasted two seconds of your day. Geeeesh. People must need something to complain about?

CONFESSION: SOMETIMES I USE A BRAND OF SARCASM THAT ONLY THE TRULY WEIRD CAN UNDERSTAND. FORTUNATELY, I'M NOT THE ONLY TOTALLY WEIRD ONE ON THIS BOARD.  AND, FURTHER, WHEN I DIRECT MY SARCASM AT OXFORD TECH, TEMPLE, AND OTHER SCUM, I'M TOTALLY MEAN-SPIRITED. REMEMBER, EXTREMISM IN THE DEFENSE OF OHIO IS NO VICE; MODERATION IN THE PURSUIT OF BEATING THE CRAP OUT OF EVIL VERMIN LIKE MIAMI AND TEMPLE IS NO VIRTUE.

It's all good.

Wait, is that still in the lexicon?  Don't want to appear to rely on tired cliches when my writing is being scrutinized.

BCB and A Ruck--you guys are CPA's?!   Very good call.  It's a great profession.  Wish I'd've gotten here a few decades earlier.  Youngsters should go for it since accounting = employment.  And you can be a big wig 10 years or less into your career.  Being able to write well is the 2nd most important skill in the field.  And in all others.

No worries.  Me and SBH basically have hugged it out and are, like all worthy others here, waiting to see what develops at qb, d-line and the front court.  I'm not sure SBH is down with 'BIGMANZ' but we're good.

It's hard to proofread when you're typing a post in the car while your wife is driving.  That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it.

Despite both of my parents obtaining their bachelors and masters degrees from Ohio University, in middle school I thought it was wise to go to Miami's hockey camp.   After we dropped off my stuff in the dorm, we went to the rink to check in and get my jersey for the week.  I was placed on team 4, whose color was Hunter Green.  My dad quickly responded well at least they got the color right.  So to this day the only article of clothing I have ever put on that had a redhawk on it, was a hockey jersey that was Ohio Bobcat colors.  (also having been to the camp and worked with Coach Blasi and his staff at the time, I have to utmost respect for that program.  But I can honestly say I've never once rooted for them to win a hockey game)

I confess that although I read BA regularly I don't make any effort to associate the comments with the person that posted them so I have no idea whose side to take in these silly little quibbles.

I've been in public accounting for the 8 years since I've graduated...I'm an Audit Manager at my firm and am very fond of the accounting profession.

On a somewhat related note...I'll throw in my entry to the Bobcat Confessional.  We actually hired a former Bobcat Footballer for a staff auditor position at my firm, starting in a couple weeks.  I'd like to say I was biased and blinded by my Bobcat fandom...and I've already been accused of that many times...But honestly, he's just a great candidate...As verified by another manager & partner (non Bobcats) also selecting him.

I've been doing this gig since 1977 so my ten years are up.  Where's my golden ticket?

Seriously, I gave up the public part years ago so I could focus on basketball between January and April 15.  Dont regret that for a minute,

I work private industry (venture capital/private equity) also, BCB.  I came late to the career and was never in public accounting--and had very little desire to go that way.  I like ops.

I missed the second half of the Kent State football game two years ago so my boys could be ring bearers in some meaningless family wedding later that afternoon.  It is the only action I have missed since my first game as a freshman in Peden in 1991.  The game was tied 3-3 at the half and lost a very meaningful game.  I still feel guilty, but at least they won the MAC East later that season.   I also feel a little bit bad (not that much) about the fist fight in Peden at the end of the UConn game.  I still don't know why those guys in WVU shirts started throwing haymakers at us.

I brain washed my daughter from the time she was about one telling her, "You can go to any college you want . . . but I'm going to Dad's Weekend at OU."

P.S. It worked!!! She got her bachelors and masters from our fair university and we have gone to 10 consecutive dad's weekends together . . . even though she was only a student for 5 of them.

Got to love our fine neighbors over in Morgantown. I went there for our game back in the Knorr era, and I will NEVER go back. Unbelievably rude fans, literally feared our safety.
