Under Groce:
Maurice Pearson
Mike Harris
Zach Nagtzaam (although his leaving the roster was injury-related and he was still able to help the team)
Stacey Waters
Frankie Dobbs
Steven Coleman
Marquis Horne
Jay Kinney
Armon Bassett
Alex Kellogg
Joe Mitchell???

Am I missing anyone?

O'Shea had his share of early exits
Ken Ottrix
Johnnie Jackson
Jeremy Fears
Antonio Chatman
Zack Kiekow

Four of those were midseason and Fears and Chatman left during conference play as the starting pg. You don't get more disruptive to a team than that.

As much as I hate to admit it, there seems to be something about Groce that just can't keep them down on the farm so to speak.

I agree, but my guess is it is more of the players not being able to handle Groce than it is Groce not being able to handle the players.  In other words, Groce does not accept limited effort and committment.

I think that excuse works in moderation and it happens to lots of intense coaches like Groce.  However, at some point, it also falls back on him for bringing in players who aren't prepared to handle his style of coaching.  Too many guys have left early under Groce for my taste.  You're never going to have 100% retention but I'd like to see it improve.

I obviously hope that this is just a rumor as I think that Mitchell will be a factor for us over the next 2 years.  At the same time though, if there was a year for us to lose a player in the backcourt, this is the one.  We have Cooper, Taylor, Kellogg, Offut, Johnson, and Hall between the guard/wing spots.  While I think that losing a possible key contributor is never a good thing, depth should not be an issue this year.  I would be much more concerned if it was rumored that we lost one of the big guys.

I just confirmed that Mitchell is still on the team.  I guess all of the speculation has been for not!

I agree.  Sounds like this one isn't going to come to fruition, at least at this point.

I'd say Stevie Taylor asking him where he goes to school now on Twitter confirms this.

Someone questioned my usage of the word "short benching". It's when Groce looks down his bench and finds a "shortage" of available participants in which to choose from. It's becoming quite a yearly ritual in Athens for the Men's Basketball Program whatever the reason. I again state my case to follow those SEC big-dogs formula that is so successful for them in football and never seems to be a problem for that great overseer of making all things on the up and up NCAA and "overcommit" scholies as we ALWAYS have someone or someones leaving the program.

Just another reason I pay virtually little to no attention to the hysteria of the recruiting boards by some. Not only does no one know whether Johnnie Jones will become the superstar Bobcat that so many enthusiastically rant as a "great get", no one even knows if the superstar to be Johnnie Jones' will ever actually stay long enough to even don a Bobcat uniform. In fact I'm more inclined to believe our "great gets" are the one's that actually stay long enough to have their names show up in a box score, Horne not withstanding.

Bummer.  Word on the street was this kid was gonna be an impact player.  Too bad he didn't have a good experience in his short time at OU.

Of course this is bad news, but it's probably not a killer. We're deep at his position. And if you want to look at the positive side, the Bobcats can add another recruit aside from Bradds into this year's class.

My understanding is that Bradds will be in next years recruiting class....not this one.

I'll probably get into trouble for this, but after reading Mr. Mitchell's tweets I had a hard time believing he could stay academically eligible.

I thought a lot of people who tweet do not care about grammar, spelling, etc.  Doesn't always reflect on their verbal abilities.
