I'm wondering why Marshall hasn't gone to a full court press.

Great win ( out shot 38-11 at the line), nice to see a great effort from all ten Bobcats that played tonight!

my feed gave out for the last play.  How close in was the Kane jumper at the end?

Agreed. My incoherent ramblings are no longer public record.

Not all that close. It hit the right side of the iron. No chance of going in.

Didn't see the game but understand that Ohio was called for 10 more fouls than Terd.  Was this fair or were the Bobcats getting homered by the refs?

Little from column A, little from column B. They definitely were more physical and were quicker to the spots in the paint.

The disparity was a tad high for my liking.

It was only that close because they started fouling intentionally at the end. Somebody needs to take those refs back and show them how to call an over-the-back foul.  My wife was asking me why I was throwing things at the computer when we were up double digits.  I told it was because those non-calls were going to come back to haunt us.

The announcers on that web-cast really made me appreciate OUr announcers even more! Those guys were TERRIBLE!! Even though the foul disparity was so great, they would literally wine and complain about EVERY call that went against them! It did make me also appreciate the win even more too!

I loved the call at the end where the Marshall player stepped out and they immediately called it a questionable call.

Great win. This will be a good win on the resume later. No apologizing for a win, ever.

But can anyone pinpoint what's going on in the closing minutes of these games? Is this just natural as a team learns how to win with new parts added? Or is this a long-term issue with the ballhandlers not being able to break pressure?

The team seems well-equipped with the four guards it has to shred pressure in the fullcourt. They haven't done it, though.

one thing that stands out to me about this Marshall team is how mentally soft they are. This game looked like a replay of the CIT game- I can't put my finger on but Marshall seems to be more concerned about "bein the man" and lookin cool then hustlin and playing hard. At one point they had an ally-oop dunk while being down by 10+ and they stood around flexin and posin while the Bobcats took the ball down the floor for a quick score. Must be frustrating to root for that team.

I disagree. Louisville pressed the entire game and we did fine. In the closing couple of minutes we only had two turnovers. One was because DJ passed to Kellogg who broke the other way.  The other one could easily have been called a foul.  I think we've handled pressure pretty well.

I completely agree and thought the same thing.  Some of those shots in the first five minutes were godawful.  Every single on of their starters looks to score first and not just score but to score with a statement.

Wow. Shows how much a close game magnifies a couple of turnovers. Seemed like more than just two down the stretch. I guess my eyes fooled me.

Uh, I distinctly recall Reggie K. dribbling the ball off his foot...he wasn't even being closely guarded.

That wasn't bringing the ball up the court which was the issue I was addressing.  And as a matter of fact that wasn't against any pressure.

We definitely didn't handle it as well as we did against Louisville.  Stevie Taylor had a couple of anxious moments that didn't end up in turnovers but might have.  He's a little more aggressive than DJ against the press.

I've never seen a coach whine more to an official in a game his team got double the foul calls than Tom Herrion did tonight. Every single call, he was moaning. At some point, I'd think an officiating crew would start spitefully calling stuff against Marshall because of his incessant whining.

I listened to Marshall's post game on their network and man was their coach a jerk.  Good win for Ohio against a quality opponent.  I am looking forward to getting to see the team in person for the first time this Saturday.  The MAC East is going to be a bear this year!  Can't wait!
