It's worth noting Presbyterian's win was pretty fluky both in the way it happened and in the context of their season; they promptly went and got beat by 14 by Davidson.

It's nice to play a team like Vanderbilt that can get you a signature win with less risk than, say, North Carolina, but there are only a few of those teams and a lot more teams that want the same opportunity we do. Part of it is selling yourself. A bigger part is having connections you can use. Luck is also involved. I try not to criticize the schedule too much because I've heard from so many how hard it is.

L'Ville beats ASU 54-27. Ugly game.

Chane Behanon is a nice young player Louisville has, but I've seen former cat Marquis Horne completely dominate him in high school.

With the 3 games Louisville and Ohio have played in the GSI they are both 3 and 0. Louisville is avg. 68.3 points to 41 a game and shooting 40.3% to their opponents 25.7%!!!!! 25.7!!!!! CRAZY. OHIO is avg 76 to 65.6 points and shooting 41% and holding the opponents to 42.9. I don't see Louisville putting a lot of points on OHIO. But we need to be on fire to win the game. Does Louisville have the best defense in college basketball?

I don't think you can judge their defense YTD as best in NCAA at all. Sure, it's real good, however all of their opponents so far have not been high scoring avg teams (even Butler). Their opponents assts have also been low. I think we have an edge vs their prior oppts on both those - we have more weapons, spread it around better, and have more to rotate off the bench.

I'll say if we score 70, or hold them to 64 (in regulation) we win. We could really get them into foul trouble w/a lot of penetration, post moves around the basket (Baltic/Keely/Offutt), etc. A Lot has to work right to win this game - FT's %, stay outta foul trouble, TO's, stop play w/time outs when they hit a stride, rebounding margin, sharp/decisive (no lazy) passing, maintain composure and energy for 40 full minutes......of course all obvious. But with where L'Ville is right now (and I think Pitino knows better than the players do) - we have a shot! Take It!

Don't Flinch!

Some of them are nervous! From Planet Red Hoops forum:

"Probably won't have Siva and Ohio has been off and preparing for us since their last game on Sunday. We only have 1 day of prep for them. Last year we had one day of prep for Drexel. This is NOT good. Ohio has better guards and a better post game than ASU, probably the best post game we have seen so far. I am VERY nervous about this game"

In reading today's article in the Messenger it appears that the teams only focus is to play Ohio Basketball and not get caught up in the bright lights of a top 10 school.
When I hear this kind of talk it signals to me that we have a young team that can quickly loose their discipline.
With the line at 16.5,  on national TV, & playing on the road, I can't see us not loosing our composure and embarrass ourselves starting in the 1st half. Their pressure D will be too much for us. They are bigger, stronger, & faster than us.
Our only hope is that Louisville beats themselves.
I do plan to watch the game and root for our boys and hope that we play within ourselves and play hard for 40 minutes.

That makes no sense. Would you be more comforted if they talked about how nervous they are?

Can't see much on this ESPN3 feed, but we are already in foul trouble while Louisville has yet to be whistled for one.

Lots of fouls. Need to keep this in single digits before half. Not bad considering no contributions from Ivo or Kellogg yet and Cooper and Offut have been held in check.

Tied up, but we are getting cheapies called against key players.

We just have to rise up and overcome.

Wow what a sloppy game from both sides... If only we could take advantage of the second and third chances they are giving us!!
