Why would anyone but us care about the Miami game? They don't care about Gary Trent being honored. Miami is not even that good this year. Regarding the scoreboard and Purdue, maybe it has something to do with MONEY. I like the fact that we don't have it. Maybe people have to actually watch the game and not the scoreboard.
You're right about Trent, but ESPN wants to convey excitement in its broadcasts. A sold-out 13,000 seat arena watching a team that may well have a bit of national buzz by then makes for a ton of atmosphere.
As to the scoreboard, everyone on here understands the money side. I think very few would agree with liking it the way it is. Most people enjoy replays, highlights, and, most importantly, unobstructed views of minor details like the score of the game.
