for all those wanting to get the jump on the masses, I just got 8 $12 tickets for the game on the 21st.  You do have to be a OBC member to purchase and you have to call.

In +2.  Bought tickets online this morning, but they did not give me seat numbers.  Anyone know when I will know what seats I have?

That irks me, I tried to do that exact same thing on the 29th and they wouldn't let me.  Maybe I should have called the OBC office instead of the ticket office.

My guess is that they made a mistake selling these to bobcat club members in the first place.  This was not an advertised opportunity.  I can sell you a few $1 tickets if you'd like.

Thanks I'm good though, I called just before 8:30, got through and got 3 $12 tickets.  I was just hoping to secure good seats in in 202 or 203 or 204 before the sale.  Sounds like the sale is like reserving your tickets and the earlier you bought your tickets the better your seats will be.

Dad's weekend, and it's my understanding you're SOL.  I tried about 2-3 weeks ago and couldn't find a room.  Let me know if I'm wrong.

Same thing happened to me, sargentfan. I sit in Section 1 and there are a couple of unoccupied seats beside mine ... I called the ticket office before Christmas to try to buy them for this game (at full price, I knew they wouldn't be part of the special deal) but was told that no tickets would be sold before the 3rd. I wondered how some people on here were managing to buy them... I never thought of calling the OBC office.

I did end up getting the tickets though, thanks to the totally awesome Brenda White in the basketball office. I couldn't get through to the ticket office yesterday morning and the OU switchboard finally put me through to her, even though she doesn't really have anything to do with ticket sales. She took a message and even called me later in the afternoon to make sure I'd gotten a call back from the ticket office -- which I hadn't. A couple of minutes after I talked to her the second time, I got a call from the ticket office and was able to buy the tickets. Have I mentioned that Brenda is awesome?

Anyone in the platinum and gold sections was able to buy unoccupied tickets back in December.  ohio bobcat club premium ticket holders got an email the morning of December 15.  I called the ticket office, bought one in section 3 next to my current four, paid the $30 and picked it up the next day at the ticket office.  It was a very smooth and easy process.  Here is the text of the announcement:

Ohio Bobcat Club Premium Ticket Holders,

On January 21, Ohio University will be honoring Ohio Basketball legend Gary Trent during its game against Miami University.  At halftime, fans will have the opportunity to see Trent’s jersey hoisted into the rafters to take its place among other Ohio Legends.  With this game taking place on Dad’s Weekend, Ohio University is expecting high demand and a sellout crowd.  Single game tickets for this event will go on sale to the general public beginning January 3, and are expected to sell out very quickly.

With such a high expected demand, the Ohio Bobcat Club would like to provide a special benefit to all its Gold and Platinum seat holders by offering these single game tickets in a special presale before they are released to the general public.  From December 19 through January 2, all premium ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase empty seats in the Silver, Gold, and Platinum sections.

All tickets will be sold for $30 in the Gold and Platinum Sections and $20 in the Silver Section.  There will be a limit of 4 seats sold per order.  With the limited quantity of seats in each section, tickets will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.  Beginning at 8:30 am on December 19, we will fill orders as they are received.

Don’t wait!  Take advantage of this special offer through the Ohio Bobcat Club to secure your extra seats before everyone else.  To purchase tickets, please contact the Ohio Ticket Office at 740-593-1300.  Due to the special nature of this offer, all orders must be placed over the phone.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the Convo for what is sure to be a memorable night.

Go Bobcats!

Alan, Although I sit in a platinum section, I'm not a premium BOC member and didn't get an email about early ticket sales. And like I said, I called the ticket office before Christmas and was very plainly told I couldn't buy tickets until Jan. 3. And yes, the person at the ticket office knew I was a platinum season ticket holder when he told me that. I'm glad the process worked out smoothly for you though.

oldkatz, I called Brenda back and thanked her ... maybe I should send her a birthday card too!

If you sit in the platinum section, all you have to do is  donate $100 to the ohio bobcat club and buy the ticket.  Assuming that you did this, you should have gotten an email.  I'd call the obc and see why you aren't on their list.

I think the OBC folks are still learning as promotions like the upcoming Miami game are rolled out.

I also tried to get a vacant seat in the row I sit in prior to the January sale.  I was originally unable to do so.  While I do not sit in a platinum section, I was disappointed that as a Bobcat Club member and season ticket holder I was told to wait.  I sent an e-mail to the OBC and suggested that OBC season ticket holders should be able to buy advance tickets prior to general sales.  I was contacted and was able to get the ticket I was looking for.  It sounds like others had similar experiences.  Hopefully, when there are future promotions, season ticket holders who are in the OBC will not be forgotten.  Not trying to be a snob here, but membership should have some perks attached and IMHO buying a ticket certainly should be one of those.  I would probably roll lower bowl season ticket holders who pay the seat convenience fee into a similar attachment as well.

On another note, I am hoping that plans for the “Will Call” and game day ticket sales areas have already been made so that long lines and waits will not happen.  Same thing needs to be thought of with concessions.  Long lines and waits do not enhance game day experiences.

Just as there are benefit levels in the ohio bobcat club, there were benefit opportunities extended to those season ticket holders in the platinum and gold sections.  To make something an exclusive benefit you have to cut off access somewhere.

Good call 74 Cat - Reminded me I need to sneak Gatorade into the game. I don't mind paying for drinks at most games - but I don't want to miss any of a big one standing in a line!

It can even be frustrating at 3,500 attendance games - ever notice there always seems to be at least a 1 to 1 ratio of a volunteer who is actually doing something behind those counters for one who is just standing there looking around? The VIP line (or whatever it's called) has to be a net $ loser, no one ever in that line anyway.....spread out to another regular line and get all of them constantly serving (read "selling").

I always remember the Miami game in I think '94 - ran out of popcorn and hot dogs BEFORE the game started. All things were equal in Oxford/Millet that year though - they ALSO ran out of popcorn and hot dogs before the game started!

Maybe they will be smart and set up multiple tables by alpha name groups with will call tickets - seems I have seen that happen before.

I hope they have a special production game program - w/a Trent monster dunk fold out photo - and lot's of 'em for sale.

Best idea I've seen in quite some time.  Get it together this week and we'll print it on high quality stock and have it here by the 21st.  Even a poster like they did for the Convo anniversary would work.
