In regards to the ESPNU vs. STO debate...

STO shows every MAC game in HD. The last two OU games on ESPNU have been broadcast in some bizarre non-HD format that someone more knowledgeable in TV tech (Tim Burke, are you out there?) could explain.

As for ESPN3, if you have the right cable provider and an XBox, you can watch games on your TV. I did it for the Louisville game this year.

Before HDMI outs on my laptop and Google TV providers and similar adapters  (now down to 80 bucks) I had bought this for my big screen to play the internet feeds over the regular TV. Just hooked right up and ran the cabling into the back .

Interesting that you can do the Xbox that way.

Back on topic....

MVC thoughts

Drake board and quotes

They could be matched with Davidson (69) thru Loyola Marymount (106) Besides Loyola Marymount (83) and New Mexico St (118), nobody has a strength of schedule like Drake.

I wouldn't mind a game against Ohio, VCU, or even GMU that much. All three are talented teams. But getting a higher RPI team like Davidson would be great! If we can pull off a solid bracketbuster win then something like the NIT becomes even more likely. I still think we'd have to win the Valley Tournament to get to the NCAA.

I never even thought of that.  We've got XBox hooked up to our big TV.  I'll have to have my kids show me how to do it.

ESPN is now zooming in non-HD productions at Bristol. They previously pillarboxed SD video.

They could, of course, hire HD trucks to do the productions, but they are apparently cheaper than Comcast Sports South or Sports Time Ohio (despite making billions of dollars. Hey, I guess that's how they make billions of dollars!)

Jeremy Guy from the MAC office tweeted that he just got off the BracketBuster conference call and that the MAC would be well-represented. Sounds good for Ohio.

Sorta like the "BIG announcement" involving a road game against Akron being televised on espnu.

In this case, I agree.  The decision makers clearly are sellouts for the MVC and the "name" teams.  That's fine though.  We prove them wrong and beat the hell out of UNC Ashville.

Like most of the MAC staff, he's just stealing money. Terrible.

The home teams had better RPIs but we should have gotten a real TV game.  What a joke.

UNC-Asheville RPI of 127. So it's better than playing a MAC West team I guess.

Wow, you guys got jobbed. Many are saying we made out, although many were predicting it too. Your jobbing reminds me of a few years ago we were dropped 40 some spots in the rpi to go play loyola (md) in a non tv game when we were like the 4th highest rpi on the road that year. It sucked and did nothing for us. Goodluck going forward and just beat the snot of them at home and shrug it off, thats all you can do. If our teams ever play I will be back and we can discuss basketball between teams.

Someone explain to me the "good" of this game (meaning playing UNC-A -----  we win....is it that impressive?  Does it help us?  We lose....and it arguably kills any at-large chance we may have left.

The good of it is the kid from Waterford gets the Bobcats in his dome his JR or SR season when we do the return game.  Oh, you meant for us?

It's a chance to beat an 11-1 conference team.  And a team who won a game in the NCAA tournament last year (you know, kinda/sorta, but still).  Yeah, I'm putting myself to sleep a little, too, but that's the spin.

I like your spin Mike, if only because being ticked off all night doesn't do anything for me.  My positivity in this is two fold:

1)  I really love that John openly said how crappy it was that his kids didn't get national TV.  No mincing words, just said it.  Like him for that.

2)  I hope this motivates the team to roll into Cleveland as the #1 seed and prove ESPN, the NCAA, and all the other powers that had influence on this selection wrong.
