Adding a**hole to the end of the chant every time the other team fouls is stupid. The two guys in the front row that take turns yelling it should realize it adds nothing at all to the intimidation factor of the student section. I've said it several times, but screaming obscenties in public is just classless.

I knew what I was getting into with the black seats, but it still surprises me how many of the OZoners just don't get it. Yesterday I was asked to sit down in the first minute of the game so the two girls in the front row of the OZone behind me could see better. They didn't know about the stand for defense thing. Last week, I heard, "Number 3 is pretty good, who is that?" from a few guys in the first couple rows. Then, there was the lame court storming. The OZone needs some leadership.

Tacking crap onto the end of the foul chant goes back to the last couple years of O'Shea, I think. I was never a huge fan of it either, but since it was one person yelling it, no one could hear it anyway.

I know toward the end of my time, it was anorris yelling you suck after the chant, and Suga Fries tacking on a**hole after that.
it was something I did because I wanted to be more involved, it was done before me, and has been done after. But I realized towards the end of the year my efforts could be better directed.

Would I have stormed the court yesterday? Nah.

But if it gets everyone excited about Ohio Basketball and gains us some new fans, I think it's a good thing.

This^

It is what it is.  I liken it to touchdown dances in football.  There was a time when everyone was against them.  I think they go over the top but on the whole I think they aren't bad.   If you storm the court after ever game then, yeah, it's pretty lame.   But I hope we storm the court every year against Miami.  Assuming the crowd isn't out of hand I think it's a good thing.

It wasn't meant as an indictment, I just remembered it most prevalently with you guys.

I'm take it or lave it on the swearing.  Honestly, things like the "BS" chants aren't ideal, but I've always liked that it's at least something where everyone's on the same page/in unison, which is a start. It's getting the uniformity of the vulgar chants applied to everything that will be the absolute best.

That is nothing compared to the guys behind me.  They referenced "A.J." Cooper several times, and during the 2nd half one asked "Is this Miami Ohio or Miami Florida?"

Every school has their fans and their "fans".  But at least they went to the game. They could have called D.J. Cooper Phil Bates for all I care, so long as they have enough interest to go to a game, I'm more than happy.

I'll have to agree with Alan that the behavior of the Ozone has gotten more boorish.  And less creative.  What happened to the ideas to incorporate some of the Brazilian chants??  I guess that would take too much creativity and effort.

The opportunity was there for the Ozone. sold out crowd, Miami, Trent and a thrilling win. Imagine if Charlie Coles had one upped the O-zone and pulled a Roy Williams and pulled his boys off the floor with a few seconds left to play for fear of the students trampling what remains of his roster.  The refs would have laughed at Charlie saying "you think they are gonna rush the court beating your 5-12 team".  Charlie would have told them..."You don't now the Ozone like I do. My last game here, Trent, packed house.....They gonna rush the dog gone court. Bet the house they rush the court.  I wished all three of our fans rushed the court when we beat Buffalo last week in Oxford"

As soon as I saw people start running onto the court, I turned to my friend and said "The M!@#! fans are going to make fun of us and there will be a giant complaint thread on BobcatAttack about this."

Please leave here and go be a fan of some other team.

The court-storming was the stupidest of all the ones I've ever known, and I do keep a catalogue of these things.

I agree with Alan that there is a right way and a wrong way to do things. I'm glad to hear he speaks up when he sees something not right. Adults used to do that back in the day, when everyone wasn't afraid of offending everyone. Every time I see a young man wearing a hat in church or in a restaurant I tell them in a nice way that it's not the right thing to do. Many times I can see it's the very first time they were told that, and they take it off and get the message. Everyone is afraid to speak up today, so it's not surprising that everyone just does what they please. The game is not enough anymore, there must be all the sideshows, just like a circus. Storming the court in this situation is like doing a touchdown dance when you score with one minute in the game, but your team loses by 21. It's a game you should win. Save it for the MAC title.

Let me add one more thing to JSF's comment about it's "sportz". It's anything but sports when you go to a game today. The only time you get to see just a game and not all the circus sideshows is a sandlot game at your local park, which is what I actually prefer these days.

None of the extras detract from the game though.  Do you prefer dead quiet?  If so, I suggest you go watch a Miami or EMU game.  Sounds like you are just complaining to complain.

Personally, I like the circus atmosphere of the Convo.  The Band, cheerleaders, dance team, O-Zone, Rufus and all.  If you disagree, come to the December games when the students are not in session...far less magic.  Storming the court should be an emotional thing and pulling a win out of our backside against Miami sure can qualify.  That said it does get diluted if it happens for less that really big events.  As for the O-Zone, they are getting stale to say the least.  I see no leadership or creativity in the group.   There has been lots of oppurtunities to freshen the cheers (God bless the Brazilians!!) and You-Tube is full of ideas.  What we get is the same ole.  Incuding winning team long after Miami had departed.  The worst example of staleness is the commentary cheer "Bounce, bounce, pass"....ad nausem.  Crassness and tastelessness can be tolerated if it is creative and at least humoress.  The jingling keys for the Kent foul shooter for example.  But straight out vulgar epithets are boorish at best.  Love the convo atmosphere and the o-Zone but there is a load of room for improvement!

Nothing better than an idiot online telling people to stop being fans of a certain team. Still trying to figure out what you are even talking about. Of course, I am still having trouble figuring out half the nonsense you put on here. It's actually pretty hilarious how much smarter you try to act all the time. Too bad you weren't in the Convo to expel each and every student on the court.

Great shameless plug to your website by the way. Too bad this isn't the old chat room so you could start kicking people out who don't agree with you.

I got a kick out of Ohio students storming the court Saturday (although I'm not sure a win v. a 5-win team deserved it) and how university police tried to stop the first 2 or 3 students before realizing their attempt was in vain.

Later that night, I also enjoyed watching on TV my second favorite team, ND, defeat #1 Syracuse and a more deserving court storming. What I didn't care for from that game was the requesite chant "UNDER-RATED" from the ND fans.  I would think it would be more impressive for my team to beat the actual top team in the country rather than a team that wasn't worthy of the top ranking.

ND, btw, has now beaten something like 10 #1 teams, including UCLA twice - bookending the Bruins' 88-game winning streak.

Not what I meant. This is what I meant.

- I do believe Donuts is a former OU athlete, so...

- Yes, the "bounce, bounce, pass" cheer is old and needs to be at least used less... but... it's not like the O Zone is starting other cheers instead.

Yeah......notsomuch....the guys crawling on top of the tables and over the chairs, hard to say no harm no foul there as even if they don't hhurt anyone sitting there they still break  or tear up the tables , chairs and rotating sign boards they are literall y diving on, standing on or laundching themselves off of...in addition to the cameras and things they booted around the convo floor for a while.

Funniest guy was the brilliant one who tried to climbn back the other way to get his coat. COunldnt take the time to go around the end he insisted on climbing over the table to get his coat.
