My 11 year old son and his friend loved it.  I think yesterdays storm was ok based on it being Gary Trent day and the students being excited and the way we won.  Otherwise it needs to be a very big win.

They did knock over a camera (that looked quite expensive) near Ben's seats as they stormed the court.  I don't think it was necessary, but I have never been a court-storming advocate.  It's rarely justified in hindsight.

ALl right I will jump in feet  first.

I heard guys talking behind me about it and thought.....they are not going on the court are they....cmon....that is low class..

then it happened...

I love the Ozone ....always have but those idiots who stood up and jumped/crawled/rolled over the table...especially the one who left the huge sticky yellow footprint on the leather bumpers to protect the players showed a complete disregard for politeness, respect, manners and anything else I ofrgot to put down here. CLIMBING ON TOP OF THE TABLE AND OVER THE FOLKS SITTING THERE IS WRONG> there is no defence.

Spilling out around the sides ...yes....

I get the exuberence and love the kids but that was just .................hmmmmm... i can think of a thousand words ....or maybe none that can describe that moment.  Badly played game, good outcome against a lousy and decimated Miami team. Hardly a reason for storming the court. Even worse reason to destroy property and risk injuring people to get there. I saw a camera laying on the floor for the longest time....It was one of the digital long lensed jobs they were shooting with yesterday but for some reason it lay at free throw line extended for a long time before security came over and picked it up.

My opinion but being on the front sidelines yesterday and seeing the whole thing play out did not make me beam with the usual pride I have when talking all things Ozone.

I have to admit I'm surprised at the number against it... I'm almost always anti-court/field storming, and usually get ripped on here when these get brought up.

I think borna covered it well.  Especially the "it was a close game/look at how we won it" argument.  We played like garbage for a good 30 minutes or so, and woke up in just enough time to eek one out over a 5-12 team.

I walked out to do winning team/losing team after people were out there, but I really didn't feel it yesterday compared to Freeman's buzzer beater.  On the buzzer beater my legs were moving, no thought in it...  Yesterday I was extremely happy we beat Miami, but it wasn't a wild finish.

But honestly, who cares??  We really hate Miami, and that game was awesome.

I was in the OZone yesterday and I thought about rushing the court but then I thought about it and I know it was Miami and it was an exciting game, but their record didn't deserve us to rush the court against them. I understand it was an emotional game but court rushing should be saved for huge accomplishments on the court. Not beating a 5-12 team

We criticize the students when they don't show up, then we criticize them when they do and get excited and rush the court.  If you don't like it, don't do it. But don't come down on the students that chose to do it.  These opportunities don't come along to often. It's not like we're scheduling the likes of UNC, Duke, and Kentucky at home.

Teams/schools that have had success don't storm the court in that situation.

If they did it every game, I could see where it gets to be meaningless.  And if it was a 40-point win, I'd say why bother.  But there were a lot of factors at play yesterday.  It was Gary Trent Day; it was Fiami; the athletics dept made a HUGE deal about the game with discounted tix to get a big crowd; plus it was Dad's Weekend, so you want to have a little extra excitement; and most importantly, the team showed real grit yesterday by hanging in there and making a good comeback when they could've folded their tent.  I think it was a good way to show fan appreciation, so why not.  Just don't do it Wednesday; WMU ain't worth it.  The next team that might be worth it on the home schedule would be Akron or maybe the bracketbuster.

Would I have stormed the court yesterday? Nah.

But if it gets everyone excited about Ohio Basketball and gains us some new fans, I think it's a good thing.

How about the black ones on the baseline?  If that's where you were sitting yesterday, it likes like there is a picture of you on page 2 of the sports section of today's dispatch.

In the context of all of the hype around yesterday's game, it was to be expected.  The come from behind win regardless of how well we played or didn't play or what Miami's record was just added to that expectation and the resulting court storming.

My bigger concern is the increasingly boorish behavior of the Ozone.  I've already stated my feelings on the "you suck" chant.  What disturbs me more is what appears to be an attempt to add the word assh&^% a few seconds after the original cheer.  I first heard it at the Kent game and then again yesterday.  In the opinion of a very good friend of mine who actually brought this up over dinner last night, John Groce could end this very quickly by talking with the Ozone.  Sorry to hijack the thread but I didn't really feel like starting a new one.

And those two clowns on the radio cast are just that - particularly the one with the high pitched voice.  If they think they were being funny, they need to have a backup plan for their career.

Easy, grandpa.

The asshole chant has been around for years. I don't agree with it, but I'm not offended, either. The bullshit chants could stand to go, but again, not enough people have been offended by it to warrant any prohibitory action. I'm surprised "bullpoop" didn't take off after the Akron game in '06.

After the game, JSF told me it looked like a weak court storm from higher seats. I don't think the majority of the students in the lower sections wanted to rush the court, but about 10 went out first and the rest thought "what the hey". Without that small group doing starting it, it probably would not have happened.

Yeah, at that point it's get trampled by morons or just go with it and not get your legs broken.  I was in front at the Geo. Mason game when we were favored but decided to rush the court anyway because there were ESPN cameras there to see it, and it's definitely not easy to hold off that rush if you don't want to do it.

Come on now, I resemble that remark.  As for the comment that not enough people have been offended by it, what I've found is that many people don't have the nerve/strength/resolve - whatever you want to call it, to speak up and those that do are often labeled with all sorts of not so nice things.  Heck, I've asked folks to pick up a cigarette butt that they've just thrown on the ground (littering), to take their shopping cart to the cart barn rather than jam it between parked cars, and to get back in line when they tried to cut in front of other patrons at the post office.  That's just how I was brought up - doesn't make me any better than anyone else - but I believe in speaking up.  It wouldn't take too many people to do it with the chants and the chants would go away and be replaced by something more appropriate.

And yes, I am a grand father of two and i really don't think they need to hear that crap at a basketball game.  They'll hear that and much worse on the playground.

Adding a**hole to the end of the chant every time the other team fouls is stupid.  The two guys in the front row that take turns yelling it should realize it adds nothing at all to the intimidation factor of the student section.  I've said it several times, but screaming obscenties in public is just classless.

I knew what I was getting into with the black seats, but it still surprises me how many of the OZoners just don't get it.  Yesterday I was asked to sit down in the first minute of the game so the two girls in the front row of the OZone behind me could see better.  They didn't know about the stand for defense thing.  Last week, I heard, "Number 3 is pretty good, who is that?" from a few guys in the first couple rows.  Then, there was the lame court storming.  The OZone needs some leadership.

Tacking crap onto the end of the foul chant goes back to the last couple years of O'Shea, I think. I was never a huge fan of it either, but since it was one person yelling it, no one could hear it anyway.

I know toward the end of my time, it was anorris yelling you suck after the chant, and Suga Fries tacking on a**hole after that.
