Funny, I thought Wright State was the return BB game.

And the MAC as a whole went 5-2 with the only losses being Bowling Green against Michigan State and winless Northern Illinois against Southern Illinois.

Western Michigan got a nice win against Duquesne, Akron thumped Florida A&M, Miami upset a good Belmont team and Toledo is now 7-3 after beating Youngstown STate.

Looks like the mediocre Raiders won't hurt our RPI today. We're #16. 26 in Basketball State.

All I can say is that it's too bad for us that Joe Lunardi is not on the selection committee. It's way too early to be projecting RPI and at-large bids. I still maintain that when the power conferences get into league play the mids drop off the map. We would have to go 25-2 and lose only the MAC championship game to MAYBE bump the 6th ACC, Big East or Big Ten team from an at-large. We don't play the schedule, so we must run the table. I guess we can and maybe we can.

You have given no evidence to support your claim. I have given a lot of evidence to support mine. So back up what you're saying or stop it.

Well, just having a top 40 RPI doesn't get you in the tournament as an at-large. That is my point. Just ask all the teams you've mentioned (Harvard, Missouri St and Cleveland St) who, as you've pointed out, had higher RPIs than UCLA. You win the RPI argument, but those teams all watched UCLA from the comfort of their living rooms play in the tourney. Strength of schedule means quite a lot and we don't have a strong schedule this year. It may be stronger than anybody thought as it all unfolds, but will it be enough to get an at-large? I don't think so. And by the way, when you told me to "stop it", it gave me a good laugh! Thanks for that.

You might be the only one that thinks that. Our lone loss is to a top 10 team in a very competitive game. We have a win over a top 50 team (Lamar) and two more against top 100 competition (Marshall, Oakland). That will, of course, shift a bit as the season goes on. My point is that the schedule is better than you're willing to admit. Plus, our continues success will ensure a quality bracketbuster opponent.

I don't know how anyone can look at this and say we aren't well positioned.

Pomeroy still doesn't like us.

Just looking at Pomeroy and his predictor (there are two) has us losing tomorrow night 66-60 to UNI but then ripping off 15 in a row before finishing the year at 14-2 and 26-4 (not counting Bracket Buster and MAC tourney). If that were to happen, big if, we would be in no matter how we did in the tourney, especially with the new format.

Good debate here, but I have to lean with JSF. This schedule is turning out to be much better than anyone thought. And don't forget about Robert Morris...they have a great shot at winning its league and that won't be an easy game at home. Beat Northern Iowa and win out heading into conference play and OHIO is at least in position for the experts to start discussing at-large. Lose at Northern Iowa and the talk will simmer unless we go on a ridiculous run.

I don't think a loss to Northern Iowa even hurts us that badly.  It would be a great help but the main thing we need to do to put ourselves in position is win the conference regular season with a record of 12-4 or better.

I feel like we'd need to aim for 13-3 if we lost tomorrow.

That depends on if we win our BB or not.  I think we have a home game this year and if everything plays out right we should get a very good opponent on TV.  Would love to see a team like Butler come into town.

We do have a home game. Butler, though, is 179th in the RPI, so I don't think you'll see them coming to Athens unless something has gone terribly wrong.

Didn't realize they were that low. I knew they weren't having their normal great year but didn't know it was that low.

Kind of interesting that despite a solid weekend in the MAC, it still dropped one spot to #15 in the UDPride RPI.

Just watching a little of the Belmont-Marshall game and the announcer said that Belmont's coach isn't allowed on the bench because the Atlantic Sun has a rule that if a coach gets ejected he automatically must miss the following game as well.  That seems a little harsh.

The schedule may indeed turn out better as the year plays out. I said as much in my post. But getting an at-large bid is still a longshot that I wouldn't bet on. I guess if Kim Jong II can get eleven holes in one the very first time he played golf, we may have a shot.

Did you see the Suckeyes strength of schedule (#258)! Cupcake city baby. Don't they play the School For the Blind next?

No, they have to play Lamar before they play the School for the Blind on Thursday.

i don't necessarily think the strength of schedule is reflective of who the buckeyes have played.  they played and beat two schools, duke and florida, who were ranked in the top 10 when they met, and lost to a top 20 school in kansas with their best player out with an injury.   a far better indicator is their rpi, which this morning stands at 26...
