For your edification, here's a little background on this issue:
Out of Court Settlement
Key Quote: "The agreement gives Ohio University exclusive rights to "OHIO" for athletic uniforms, apparel and merchandise, but allows Ohio State to use the word in certain traditional instances, such as "Script Ohio," Ohio Stadium and for commemorative merchandise."
Earlier article on law suit
O$U has been very good about adhering to the letter of the agreement, if not its spirit. They've retired the cheerleader uniforms that just said "Ohio" and in all of their news releases about athletic contests between the two schools have always referred to us as "OHIO" since the agreement. The two times we've played them in football since the agreement the scoreboard had us as "OHIO" and them as "Ohio State." The funny thing about this is that they sued us, and then when their attorneys told them they were going to lose in court they asked for the out-of-court settlement, which we -- in retrospect -- shouldn't have agreed to, because we grandfathered in too many things.
If you guys really wanted to insult them, call them "Ohio A&M," which was Cowtown U's original name, for about the first eight years of their existence. They really hate that. But, Dumber than a Tree Stump Hoke hasn't studied his history enough to know that. Maybe somebody should 'splain it to him.
