Ball St is too good a team. They will make a run this half.

Also we won't shoot as well as we did the first half.

I won't be shocked when this thing is back to single digits.

Now the X factor is if we keep defending like we did in the first half. If we do that and keep this thing 20+ for the first 10 minutes then we're golden.
This aged well.

Nevermind. AJ Brown may never miss again.
Don't jinx us Graff. Cue up Liam Nisson: I will find you..." 😀

Well ladies and gentleman here we go.
Second week of March is when Bobcat legends are born.
Protect the ball.
Shorten the bench.
Make free throws.
Compete.
Survive and advance.
Pretty much worst case scenario first four minutes. Boals needs to shorten the bench in March and The Whiz comes in and predictably gets called for a moving screen.

Tough start.
Please give Gabe credit for that beautiful assist to AJB for a 3. He also has a rebound or two and block out so that a teammate could get a rebound in another case. He's improving.
+1

Now let’s eliminate the moving screen from his arsenal.
Let’s go Bobcats!
Well…The Whiz came back to earth. 5 fouls in 9 minutes and a missed one-footer. Who cares? We just played one of the greatest games in Ohio basketball history today.

We treat him like a toddler. "Aw there ya go buddy" when he does basic tasks successfully. He is a walking foul, terrible hands and awful nose for the basketball off the rim. I'm sorry...I've got enough history here to show I'm not some unreasonable guy that quickly blasts players...but he is not a D1 basketball player.

Anyway, sorry for the negativity during an absolutely awesome game. AJ Brown WOW. Great hustle for loose balls and lots of sneaky defense. Feels like Miles hasn't even played 8 minutes which is pretty crazy. The improvement from the guards as a whole is pretty incredible, we are stacked.

This staff tracks defensive deflections. Don't be surprised if Boals makes special mention of it in postgame, and it's our season high.

Agreed. I've harped on our lackluster defense all year.

We brought it today.

No idea if it's sustainable but THAT performance on the defensive and rebounding ends will win us a lot of games in Cleveland (not even mentioning our shooting onslaught today - that's just the cherry on the cake).

Summed up perfectly Ruck. I can’t say it any better. He should not see the floor against Toledo. We got away with it today.

In a game OU led by nearly 30 the entire time, and Ball State jacked up 20 3-pointers... Wiz MERCIFULLY exits.

5 fouls. 2 turnovers. 2 rebounds. 0 points.

YUCK.

Might be short lived; but the trio of Jaylin, AJB, and EJ4 is going to be special.

Would love to see DWIII get stretches of court time longer than 3-4 minutes.

Anderson Mirambeuax just played the first 6:42 of the second half of the first quarterfinal game. Just saying.
Yup....you have to go with DW3 as long as you can. Shorten the bench. I said it earlier in this thread. This is March not November.
This aged well. Considering Baker and Brown keyed the take off!

How about lengthening the bench and get to Toledo fresher than playing Dwight forever.

In Boals we trust.

Did I miss something with Miles? He only played nine minutes today and didn't seem his normal self.

What are you talking about? For once, I didn't specifically call out The Whiz in a post. Who else do you think I was talking about??? But since you brought it up...yes...shorten the bench. Which means...The Whiz shouldn't play another second in Cleveland. There ya go.

He was in warm-ups most of the second half and I don't think played the last 25+ minutes at all.

All the calls to shorten the bench didn't happen. He knows it is one and done but also the first of three games in three days and wants the best chance to win game 3. I wonder in Miles could have played but didn't because we had a lead and something minor was off.

Nothing better than a day/night doubleheader of Ohio basketball winning in March in Cleveland followed by Bruce Springsteen concert in Columbus. Unfortunately, concert postponed due to illness.

He caught an elbow at some point late in the first half and came right out. I saw them talking to him at the end of the bench. Maybe he was woozy...?

I have no doubt Todd Golden has probably left 78 impermissible text messages on AJB phone today. I think we are good next year with these guys. It's the Junior seasons I worry about.

I am hoping it was a very minor issue that wasn't worth pushing with the blowout and the other Brown Bro ripping up the net in his place. Any given game he can be our MVP so we need him 100% tomorrow and Saturday.

I saw him in the huddle towards the end of the game and he did look a little out of it. Thanks for the info.
