Another fantastic effort out of Kent. Leading Houston and Gonzaga in final 3 minutes and they let it slip through their fingers. Carry shoots a combined 5-36 in both games which is hard to fathom.
They are looking more and more like a team primed to win the conference. Competed hard against two definite tourney teams in Houston and Gonzaga. Carry has not carried over well so far from his MAC POTY year last year. Will be a difficult team to beat.

FAU housed Eastern, scored in triple digits. Bates got his, again. Eastern loses, again. Maybe things will turn around in MAC play for them, but so far, they have been really disappointing after the near upset of Michigan.

It almost seems like they are worse off with Bates. Bad chemistry?

Sample size of 1 without him so it's impossible to say, really. 1-0 without, 1-7 with.

Apparently, Miami was the last team in the country to score a dunk this season. They turned into Phi Slamma Jamma and got two against NAIA Calumet College.

Interesting stat, Shabamon. I guess I can see why with Mirambeaux, Cleveland St. transfer, starting at center. I can't imagine he has much of a vertical lift.

I watched most of that game. WKU appeared to be the more athletic of the two teams, but UL was shooting the lights out, particularly from three. Last night I think they would have beaten Purdue.

Games of note today:

Tommy Freeman and Maine visit Akron. . . and no, you won't be able to watch this morning's titanic struggle between BG and Fairmont St. due to no TV coverage.

Surprised nobody here is talking about Marshall's demolition of Toledo last week. Marshall has crushed the MAC in non-con play this year.

Has really been a horrible non-conference year for the MAC. The best results are Kent's close losses to Houston and Gonzaga. Everything else league wide has been awful.

I don't think Marshall "demolished" Toledo. It was a one point game at the half but then Marshall gradually pulled away late.

Agree it's been a very disappointing non conference season for the MAC once again. Fully half the conference is 250 or below. Just a few seasons ago, there may have been one team between 220-240 with the bulk of the league between 90-190. Is this just a cyclical downturn that will correct itself, or has there been a systemic realignment and the MAC is going to be #18 from now on?

CUSA went through this a few years ago, but they've bounced back.

Eastern Illinois ( yes the same Eastern Illinois that lost by 11 in Athens) just won at Iowa 92-83. They were a 30 point dog. Man wish I could go back and bet the money line on that one.

That just may be the year's most shocking upset in D1.

Kent picked up a top 100 net win on a neutral court over New Mexico State.

Ball State beat a decent GA Southern team in Muncie.

YSU wins at CMU.
