Just read that Akron offered to switch to play on the road in order to get a better matchup but were turned down.

I heard about this which is the only reason I ventured over to the Akron board post-loss.  I can see why Akron would do this.  Smart move in my mind, stinks for them we may still get the better matchup despite them beating us.

A silly comment from one Akron fan suggesting they don't need to worry about bracketbuster because after Saturday it is clear they will win in Cleveland.  I lol'd.
Akron got a nice win Saturday.  They CLEARLY outplayed us and they deserve credit.  I still would pick us to win against them in the Convo...  Going on the road vs. winning at home is a big consideration.

A guaranteed Zips win in Cleveland? Lets remember the last two matchups in Cleveland.

I got the same nonsense from trolls on Twitter when I said it's one game, and in this conference it's not the one that matters most.

I'm surprised we haven't heard any rumors. I thought by this time last year we had several floating out there.
I'd tune into the show if I were you. ;)

Earlier today I read this article but skimmed over it pretty quickly. I just re-read it and am amazed that it says that Akron was turned down by the MAC not ESPN.  WTF!!!!!  I can't think of one legitimate reason they would do this, if true.

Is it possible the MAC offices were protecting us? Akron jumping would probably move Ohio down on the list and result in a worse match up. No?

For Akron to move to an away game someone would have to move to a home game. Maybe no one wanted to switch with Akron.

Who wouldn't want another home game?

Ohio wouldn't want another home game if the away game is going to on ESPN 2 and the home on ESPN the OCHO

If ESPN had said no then I could say that was a possibility but it is being reported as being the MAC offices.  I'd be willing to bet we would have switched with them.   Realistically the only team in the conference that has a shot at an at-large is Akron.  It is in the league's best interest to make that happen.  So unless the league knew that Akron was going to get a plum matchup already then I have a real problem with this.  Of course, this is the same office that thought we should be ecstatic with UNC-Asheville on ESPN3 last year.

Edit: I should add that Akron isn't even in the running for the only real beneficial team in the road pool, Creighton, because they already played them this year and I doubt they are doing rematches.

In my hatred for the MAC offices, I never considered that possibility.  I doubt it, but its certainly possible.

MAC staying quiet about why they turned Akron down. I'm annoyed.

I do not expect any explanation from them.  Incredibly frustrating.

Akron made out pretty well, drawing North Dakota State on Friday on ESPN2.  That's essentially as good as they were going to do.

I like it...last year of the bracketbuster working out in our favor, let's use it and make a statement.  GO BOBCATS.

The return trip is going to be interesting. One time Ohio commit Evan Bradds will be a Belmont Bruin when its time for the return.

Andy Katz just said we have the toughest matchup this year. Can't say I disagree with him. This is a great opportunity for us to pick up some serious momentum heading into the Akron game in the Convo and the last couple games of conference play.

Glad I planned on making a trip to Nashville with the lady friend that same weekend.

This is just a HUGE bonus.

[QUOTE=UpSan Bobcat] I would be happy if we played either of the MVC teams, and OK if we played Valpo.  .  I saw Andy Katz posted again he thinks it will be Creighton at St. Mary's, but I dont know why.  If that happens, who plays @ Belmont?  I think the best matchups  would be:

Creighton @ Belmont
South Dakota St. @ Wichita State
Eastern Kentucky @ Akron
Ohio @ Indiana State
Stephen F Austin @ St. Mary's
North Dakota St. @ Northern Iowa
Iona @ Western Michigan

If they do what I think they will do and ignore the RPI in favor of their own ranking system, the BPI, I think we could end up at Belmont if Creighton is playing at St. Mary's.  North Dakota State, Denver and Stephen F. Austin are the only teams that rank ahead of us of the remaining teams and they don't really have the name value we have.  Of course, with the clout that the MAC offices have we'll end with Niagara on ESPN3.

ESPN Guy A: Ohio at Belmont looks good.
ESPN Guy B: Yeah, I like that.
MAC Office: We'd prefer Ohio @ Niagara on ESPN3
ESPN Guy A: Deal
@JGuyMAC: Get excited for some great bracketbuster matchups this year, MAC fans!

That last line made me laugh.
