I do really like the situation he has built with BJ Boston, but neither of them are getting a real shot in LA.

I think he'll have plenty of suitors. Would be fun to see him in Cleveland running that second unit. Rubio didn't come back from that injury very well, so hopefully they kick those tires a bit.

Preston’s contract become guaranteed on the 7th. Big week for him. Have to assume he’d be thrown in if a trade for harden takes place.

edit - in what appears to be a bad sign - the LA Times has reported the Clippers have moved his guarantee date to the 18th - indicates he is not part of their plans but may be part of a deal to another team - despite being a low salary, he would be a value as an expiring contract.

Westbrook officially staying in Clippers land.

JP needs to ball out in summer league and find a new home.

There's also speculation that Harden will end up with the Clippers.

Clips made a move to delay Jason’s contract decision until 7/18. He will need to score a bit more if he wants to stick around I would imagine. Go JP!

Go Bobcats!

Clippers signed Mason Plumlee and now have 16 players under contract, so not looking good for Jason when you can only have 15 I believe. Maybe the upcoming trades will benefit him.

JP is, not surprisingly, on the Clipper's summer league roster. Xavier Casteneda on the team, too.

and 15 of those contracts are guaranteed. Jason’s is the only one not guaranteed. His path is narrowing. Probably his only option is if the clippers trade for Dame or Harden. if they don’t make the trade there is no spot for him. if they do make the trade he loses another pg spot but may be thrown in to the deal.

Here is what the Clippers want from JP.
Andrew Greif: Here at Clippers summer league practice. PG Jason Preston said feedback he received after last season was to continue developing as a leader, as well as the shooting and ball handling. Called the summer a good chance to “showcase a lot more of me as a basketball player.” 7 hours ago – via Twitter AndrewGreif
Jason Preston, Los Angeles Clippers
Law Murray: Jason Preston said that he had procedures done for a deviated septum and LASIK So he can breathe and see now… 7 hours ago – via Twitter LawMurrayTheNU

JP looks really good tonight. 10 points and 6 assists at half. It might not be with the Clippers this season, but he’s an NBA player. JP is also getting stronger each off-season.

I don't follow the NBA nearly as closely as many folks here, but it seems to me that JP will likely be traded to another team that can use his skill-set better.

I’d like to see him on a different team. Clippers are too worried about having big names rather than a good team.

That's most NBA teams. Find a "big 3" with star power to sell tix and make $$$. The rest is gravy.

Saw some of the game last night and like others I thought he played with intensity and his numbers, 15 & 10 were good.
No forced shots a few mishandles.

He looked great, but inconsistent. NBA doesn't like inconsistency. I love this Kid. I want nothing but great things for him.

Agree.

It was only game one. These guys haven't even practiced together. Needs to improve the handles yes, but there is a place in this league for a Jason Preston.

Didn't the NBA just institute a rule change that would prevent teams from signing 3 super max players? I swear I heard or read that somewhere.

The play by play announcer confused about Preston. Saying he played so few minutes for the Clippers this year because he had foot surgery right before the season. And seemed oblivious to his G league play.

The new CBA changes the tax rules to discourage overspending in order to assemble or keep superteams. Early returns aren't positive.

I'm a little confused about his contract situation. Is he now on a guaranteed deal since it's past that earlier deadline for it to become guaranteed? Is this a good sign for Jay?

Also, I noticed that Castaneda from Akron only has played in last night's summer league game, and he didn't shoot it great (2/7). Any word on why he didn't play in games 1 or 2? Box has the dreaded DNP-CD. That leads me to believe it's not injury that kept him out.

Looks like the end of the road for JP in LA LA land. Taken out with 6 minutes left in the third with Clippers down 19 and LA storms back to win by 10 with Preston watching it all.

Hopefully JP is part of the rumor Harden trade.
