Thanks for the info.  He looked so sluggish earlier this week.  Makes sense now.

Arkley tweeted he was hovering over a trash can for several minutes early in the half hence the early run for Stevie in the 2nd half.

Early second half sub of Cooper was because he had to throw up.

I really don't understand the necessity of winding up with a halfcourt shot when you have over 3 seconds.

What a big shot not only for today but for the next 2 years.  Hopefully Stevie can build on this confidence and be the point guard we need after DJ graduates.  It was also great the genuine excitement the team had for the Stevie.  You can tell this team loves playing together.

I want no part of Kent in Cleveland. We have beat them by a combined 4 points. Its hard to beat a team 3 times in one year. Now hopefully BG can pull off a miracle at Akron today...

Better to win than lose...but up 15 a number of minutes in 2nd half at home against a kents team that is not that good...Shouldn't have had to go last seconds in OT to get this one.

But they'd only have to win once more. It's not three times, it's one. Winning the first two doesn't make the third game harder.

Well I am with you Monroe.  So, so glad to get the win.  But I think everyone on the team will agree with what you said.  When you have a foot on the throat you don't let up

What a great experience for Stevie though.  We have been treated to numerous last second buzzer beaters in our favor in the past few years.  When I was a student we were usually on the receiving end, with the most painful probably being the MACC Semis in 01 when Benedict Arnold drained a shot with under 10 seconds that ended up being the winner.

Not true. Games arent played in a vacuum. They have 85 mins worth of tape showing what we do against their schemes both on offense and defense. They would have plenty of footage and experience to make adjustments for a third matchup. They are also going to be pissed off and extra motivated if we faced them again as well. I want no part of Kent a third time.

A team that wins the first two games wins the third a high percentage of the time. The statistics don't back up this myth.

Really proud of Walter Offutt today. When too many guys were settling for bad jumpers in the first half, he attacked the rim. He also came up with a few huge hustling defensive plays - drawing charges and intercepting passes. And it was his good pass that set up Stevie's game-winner.

I'll refrain.

However, your data on the Mig is inaccurate. Kent has been playing very good ball the last two weeks, and they have a 1st team all- MAC player. They got hot, and hit some tough shots.  JC also had some odd substitutions when we were up big.  Give Kent credit where it is due. They played tough.

kents played tough.  After we went on our big run, they had  a stretch where they hit a lot of shots, even as we were scoring some (it wasn't as if they were scoring and we weren't).

I guess what disappoints is reality.  We are not a really good defensive team.  We don't have a group that can lock the other side up when needed.  And the way that we play D leaves us vulnerable on the boards.  Our offense is okay, best when we can run and play at a high pace and move the ball.  We are who we are and will just have to hope that we have a few more big moments in each close game than the other side--since it's unlikely we're going to have easy wins in our tough games.

Who said all?  Have we had any?  Have we had a few?

Seriously?  You really took my remark to think easy in 'all'?  You just look for wrong interps, don't you?

Road games in MAC play are tough games, especially when we have a huge bullseye on our back.  We've won more than a few that weren't close.

I will disagree somewhat and say it was our defense at the very end of the game that actually won it for us.

You are right in saying Ohio is what it is, but I would counter with, "so what?"  There are no teams in the MAC that dominate game after game, Akron included (see their recent string of narrow victories).  The last thing Ohio was last year in the MAC was dominant (I actually think Ohio has more convincing wins this year than last) yet Ohio became a team within an OT of reaching the Elite 8.  I'm a glass half full guy-I take it as a positive that we can come back with tremendous poise at crunch time, after having blown a 15 point lead, and get the win.  If anything, Ohio's last 2 wins against Kent State shows Ohio has more poise when it counts than Kent State and I think that bodes well for the MAC tournament.  We'll see.

Edit: And we overcame the overtime deficit with our best player on the bench.
