Gone are the days when this cheer used to be O! U! *clap* *clap* (where you would spell it out with your arms), but I think it's for the better. I think the "Oh Yeah" came into use around '05-'06.
They way it seems to have caught on (cheers at games, t-shirts, friendly greetings between Bobcats in airports, etc) you'd think the Athletic Department would want to capitalize and jump on the bandwagon.
They should focus their efforts on name branding to folks in the media, and less on the game day experience.
I know in the game notes and media guides they use "- when referring to the Bobcats, please use Ohio or Ohio university, not Ohio U or OU. Thank you!"
[ramble] Steve Mix was terrible at this. "Ohio U" all the time. Is he still broadcasting poorly somewhere?
To be honest, I hate when I see "Ohio University" in print/web media. That doesn't help your branding efforts at all. [/ramble]
Honestly, I share your sentiments in a little bit. To be honest, this new management group of the O Zone has been really on fire. We're working out the kinks, and most of us are underclassmen. It's actually been a bit daunting to try and post on this forum because it turns into an O Zone bash after every game where it's early or the crowd falls out of it. But dammit, we're trying. We made a bus trip to Akron on Feb. 2nd, and also this:

Glad to hear it, and I understand but please post away! You're going to get everyone's opinion (and some will be harsh), but you're going to get them from some of the most intense Bobcats around. It means we care, and we want the best, and many of us are rabid and will accept nothing less.
