Hi! R.P. here.

We (O Zone Leaders) are looking to do the OU Oh Yeah chant shortly before the game against Akron to really take the piss out of them and fire up the Convo. We would like to do a Convo-wide chant of this, and to do that we need your help. We aren't quite sure at what point we will do it yet, but when we attempt to, we would like all of you who frequent this forum to stand up and chant along. Get the other people near you into it too. We're looking to have people on the lower and upper bowls with signs so we can stay close together on timing and really shake the place up. Full participation would create an atmosphere unlike most we've seen this year.

The other part of this is that we know saying OU is contentious among a lot of you on the forum, and we understand that. However, it is a simple and powerful chant that most people pick up very quickly, as evidenced by the Akron football game in October. So please, join us and rock the Convo.

Comments, thought, and ideas are all suggested and encouraged.

Thanks,
R.P. Kirtland

No offense to you personally but...

HOLY S&^* the O Zone lives!

This is a great idea and I'm glad someone over there taking a big step forward, instead of the step back that I feel the section as a whole has taken over the last few years.

I pledge my support from Section 1 (behind the Akron bench) and will get others involved.  I'm sure Athena will lend her voice as well.  I'll also pledge to start it the opposite way as well.

I'll also pledge that if both are successful, I'll donate $20 to the O Zone.

Honestly, I share your sentiments in a little bit. To be honest, this new management group of the O Zone has been really on fire. We're working out the kinks, and most of us are underclassmen. It's actually been a bit daunting to try and post on this forum because it turns into an O Zone bash after every game where it's early or the crowd falls out of it. But dammit, we're trying. We made a bus trip to Akron on Feb. 2nd, and also this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oXwPQ1cNks. So, we're on the up and up.

We also have signs that we made during football season, if you would like to use that.

Could you possibly recruit the cheerleaders for help? See if they are willing to spread out around the Convo at a designated time.

The thing about that is that we've tried earlier int he year. However, the higher-ups at Ohio don't like the OU Oh Yeah chant and refuse to let the cheerleaders be a part. :/

R.P., I think this is a great idea. I would also think that getting the band, cheerleaders, local citizens, the whole place involved would be an awesome thing to see. With the way Akron fans have acted like internet trolls these past few days on twitter, the O Zone most definitely needs to be on its "A" game for this matchup. Go Bobcats!!

What is wrong with using OU Oh Yeah? Guess I just don't get the lack of endorsement for using it...

I'll tell you what, though, I'm walking up to McDavis and asking him to hold one of the signs.

That would be so classic! I'll keep my eye out for that to make sure you follow through... lol

A buddy of mine was a cheerleader when we were in school (The Dark Days of Knorr). He has told us repeatedly that the cheerleaders are not allowed to cheer-out the letters "OU" under any circumstances.

And why is that? I really do not understand the reasoning behind that...Those are our school initials.. many other schools use their initials I'm pretty sure.

He said it goes to defending the OHIO brand, and more particularly defending our exclusive use of it. I don't claim to have a perfect understand of it, I'm just repeating what the cheerleading team's policy is.

Yeah, I guess that is true. Since we do go by OHIO.

Would love this to be done during live action ( not during a time out) so STO viewers can hear it. Similar to the Akron football game.

Love the chant. Any way we could time it to start at 18:04 of the first half?

Too risky in my opinion.  A big play, bad call, etc would kill it.  I like it starting right before tip.

I sit in section 101 and will gladly stand up for this.  Bring a sign over if you like, my daughter is in a cheer leading uniform, row A.

Start it right after the music stops before the game start tip.

Screw the anti OU stuff - it's like denying global warming is real. Besides, this is the USA, and we're Americans, in America....., or the United States,.....or the US,....or The States, .....or the Union,......or......

Live action probably would not be a good idea. Coming right out of a timeout would be ideal.

I've never known the spot to say this, but I don't know why the O Zone moved away from the jump around OOOOOOO thing straight out of the last O-H-I-O in the fight song (O-H-I-OOOOOOOO) right before the tip. Seems to make a lot of sense, and it's how it used to be done.
