I would not be upset if we lost tomorrow. Why? EMU holds the tiebreaker over Buffalo and they're currently tied. If Kent and Buffalo grab the 4 and 5 seeds, they're going to have a bloodbath in the quarters with the winner advancing to face Akron while we get, at worst, the winner of EMU and WMU.

JSF--I'm with ya.  I'll be cheering for Ohio, but not heartbroken if Buffalo lands in Akron's bracket either.  I think we also want Kent St. to win so they secure the #4 seed.

It's a little crazy, but if things finish the way they are at halftime today, BSU winning, EMU losing, Buffalo losing, all 3 would be tied for 5th. All would be tied with each other head to head and UB would win the tiebreaker by beating Akron.

Oops! I had this wrong. I've updated my original post. EMU wins the tiebreaker in a 3 way tie based on being 2-1 against Buffalo and Ball State. They would be the 5 seed.

1. 3 way tie EMU/Buffalo/Ball St won-lost record of games played among tied teams, EMU (2-1), Buffalo (1-1), Ball St (1-2): EMU is the 5 seed, Buffalo is the 6 seed, and Ball St is the 7 seed.
2. 2 way NIU beat Miami head to head: NIU is the 10 seed, Miami is the 11 seed.

Akron: Kent
Ohio: Mia
WMU: CMU

BGSU: UB
Buffalo: @BGSU
EMU:UT
BSU:NIU



So now it looks like we are pulling for Toledo on the road against EMU on Saturday. Obviously we'd love to have Kent win on the road at Akron. We are now locked into the 2 seed regardless. And we'd like Buffalo to win on the road at BG to lock up a 5 seed. I am so excited for senior night! This team deserves to be honored on Saturday.

Also WMU already locked up the 3 seed based on beating Kent head to head

They said on the radio that Kent has locked up No. 4 also, so the Golden Flashes and Zips will be on the same side of the bracket.

It looks like it's also possible for Buffalo to lose and end up on Akron's side of the bracket. If BG beats Buffalo, UT wins at EMU, and Ball State beats NIU, then Ball State would have the 5 seed, BG would be the 6 seed, EMU would be the 7 seed, and Buffalo would be the 8 seed.

I see it happening with Ball State win over NIU, BGSU home win over Buffalo, EMU home loss to Toledo.  Then you have Kent, Ball State and Buffalo in Akron's bracket.  Those three teams seem to be playing best basketball right now for any team not named Ohio or Akron.  Those teams also each have at least a 1st team MAC candidate that could get hot and push Akron.  Us having to deal with survivor of WMU, BG or EMU doesn't seem very threatening, as each team seems struggling and doesn't have a McRae or Evans type player.

Been following this scenario for a few weeks now and just recently added the goal of getting Buffalo out of our bracket.  Hope both takes place, but if it doesn't I'm under the mindset that if we can't beat a 12-18 Buffalo team (or whatever their record is) in tournament play, we really don't deserve to advance anyways.  But let's hope for the most advantageous route, hence I'm cheering for Toledo!

That would be ideal. Kent State, Ball State and Buffalo have been playing the best right now, so to get all of them on the other side of the bracket would be nice. Of course, George is right, Ohio should be able to beat any team that comes through to the semis handily on a neutral court.

Since WMU lost on Tuesday, Toledo will be playing for a share of the MAC West Division Championship. Last game of the season for Toledo, so I imagine they will play hard.

I'd consider Austin Calhoun to be like McRae or Evans.  He's just surrounded by lesser players than the other two guys.  Regardless, I agree with the couple thoughts that Ohio should be able to win against any of those teams on the neutral (or slightly in our favor) floor.

I'm not sure all of these are right. If BG and Buffalo are tied for 7th at 7-9, Both are tied head to head at 1-1, but wouldn't Buffalo win the next tiebreaker by beating #1 seed Akron?

Shawn, you're right there. In three-way scenario with EMU, Buffalo goes to eighth becasue of losing to EMU, whereas BG won. BG also beat Ball State so it would win a four-way tiebreaker.

Thanks for the update, UpSan! Looks like all of the options on our side for the 6 & 7 seeds involve EMU, BG, or Buffalo.

Yeah. I don't see BSU losing to NIU.  So BSU should lock up #5 seed.  Then all we need is just a little help from Toledo to beat EMU and push Buffalo over to Akron bracket too.   So far, so good.

Toledo beats EMU. Just need Ball State beat NIU to put Buffalo in Akron's half of the bracket
