No, I'm serious. This isn't football. Your timeouts aren't split between halves. There's one you can't take with you to the second half, which was called with 8 minutes left.

Too much cutting down the nets talk.
Boys better figure it out quick.

Yes, I know, but doesn't mean you need to ignore the disaster that is happening. It's ok to use them when you need them, even in the first half and they needed one used as a wakeup call.

I'm with JSF here... It isn't like we haven't been passing the ball pretty well, getting O boards, and getting good looks. Just haven't been falling. I don't see a timeout helping with that. I expect we'll regress towards the mean in the second half and hit a few more. If the game looks like it could end up close, I'd rather have my timeouts available for ball-on-the-floor and end game situations.

I have never seen the Convo so dead for a Miami game. I know students are not here. Need to come out quickly in 2nd half! I want 2013 added to a championship banner!

I don't want to see another 3 attempt unless there is less than 5 on the shot clock or Nick or Travis are wide open.

They can still win this game, but right now Miami wants it more. So sad a finish at home on senior day.

They won it! A happy end to senior day! Now that they have such a horrible 30 minutes of basketball out of their system, go win the MAC Tournament! Go Bobcats!

Great job by Taylor and Smith to give the Bobcats the boost they needed to overcome the deficit.

How does a timeout make you shoot better?

Good point.  Trying something to get us away fom our horrid play--timeout or substitution or defensive pressure or pounding it inside...anything different from what we've been doing to achieve losing to a really bad redhawk team--that wouldn't be a good thought.

I fear that this late season performance by our experienced, senior-laden team against a really, really bad looking redhawk team (very, very little talent evident there) does not bode well for the rest of the season.  Playing about  5 minutes of a 40 minute game--no.

Just got back from the game and I will say that the fans really did bring it in the 2nd half when Ohio started showing that they had a pulse. And the momentum just stayed from there on out. I had a lot of fun in Athens and being at the Convo today.

Not so much playing bad, just shooting bad......teams will have days like that.   The positive point is they were able to overcome an absolutely terrible shooting half (3/4 of game) and play well enough on defense to still win the game.   Hopefully they just used their bad shooting day and will be lights out in Cleveland.

I thought Reghi gave way too much credit to Fiami's defense.  Their d had little to do with our lack of offense.  It was just that shots weren't going down.

We do depend on the 3 too much to try getting back into games.  Once we worked the ball inside more and stepped it up on the defensive end, the lead shrank in a hurry.

Anyway, it's really great to relegate Fiami to the bottom seed of the tourney.

Just got back to Dayton from the game.

Wow, what an ugly UGLY 3/4 of a game. I'm not sure I've ever witnessed a worse shooting performance. That being said, you couldn't fault the desire. We kept working, kept at it and our defense (along with Miami generally being terrible) were the only thing that even kept us in the game.

The exact quote of mine that I said to my father while leaving the Convo "Today might have been senior day, but if it wasn't for our 4 juniors we would have certainly lost."

JC was mixing and matching lineups the entire game to try and find something, ANYTHING to work on offense. He made a great decision to finally play Stevie Taylor and DJ at the same time. Stevie's D, steal and layup, his big 3 (all 8 of his points really)  were beyond huge. He changed the complexion of the game in the 2nd half. Jon Smith finally got some more minutes and stepped up BIG. I know Big Reg had a tough day at the office but man in the 2nd half Jon's 4 point play, he had a couple nice blocks on D, and finally got a couple stick backs (and hit his FTs). He was the inside ying to Stevie's yang tonight.

Couple that with TJ's big offensive rebound and put back late for his only bucket and then Nick Kellogg with a monster pump fake and sticking that 15 foot jumper for HIS only bucket to ice the game. Talk about good timing to come up with a couple really important buckets for each of them.

So, it may have been senior day, and that group deserves every bit of recognition given, but they owe today's W to that quartet of juniors IMO.

minority report:  that peformance at the end of the season at home vs. arch rival, terrible this year, on senior day by an experienced, tourney-toned team?  not good.  worried about portentous.

Did we win?

Oh......did what?

Gutted out a 31% to win?

That sucks.

The NCAA needs to put in a rule that if you don't shoot 35% or more in a b-ball game you automatically lose.

I like Stevie & DJ on the floor at the same time. The last 2 games we've seen some good things happen out of it.

I loved the energy from the crowd the last 10 minutes.  We got way loud after cutting the 12 point lead to 9.  Cooper, Baltic, Smith, Taylor, and Offut on the floor for the run that put us ahead.  Miami, hate to say, played much better than I thought they could.  Not a very good team, but i'm still surprised they've only won 3 league games.

we didn't have a senior day last year so our previous senior day was two years ago. If you'll recall, that senior day also included stellar play by a sophomore point guard. Coop went 8-13 and 7-10 from 3
