How do we stop Treadwell?

I think we double every time in the post. Play Zeke straight up, but double Treadwell. Also, I think we should press more.

I like all this. Really want to see how Akron's guards can handle some backcourt pressure without Abreu.

Offensively, gotta keep attacking the rim. Just accept that you'll have some shots swatted away and don't hang your head when Zeke gets away with a goaltend or one of our guys gets hacked with no call (and I promise you that both will happen at some point). Settling for too many jumpers is a recipe for a scoring drought.

Treadwell is their closer. Almost single-handedly won the game in the last couple of minutes last night. Ohio has not had an answer for him. I also worry about the lack of dribble-penetration. Didn't get any until DJ got the and-one late last night. That created  a huge foul disparity in the second half as WMU was the aggressor.

Without someone going to the rim and getting to the line, it's all-or-nothing from 3-point land. That allows WMU to erase a 17-point deficit and Akron to erase an 18-point deficit. Hopefully, Walt knows what needs to be done and he can be that man tonight.

The real turnaround last night came when WMU started attacking the rim HARD in the second half.  TJ, Walt and Reggie picked up quick fouls in the paint, which helped set the tone for the first 12 minutes of the half.  I expect Akron to do the same.  We need monster nights from our bigs, especially Ivo.  Can we hire Glenn Close to dress in white and stand up when he gets the ball?

We need the effort on defense that...finally..we brought for most of the first half last night.

Ted's thought about inside play, attacking the rim is right on.  We need to work the ball in to the post and create movement/space by our inside/outside game.  (I know--easier said than done).

In the second half last night, we had too many moments with too many guys too close together on offense.

We have to win something tonight against 'kron that we haven't so far this year--the boards, or Nick's shooting, or Ivo playing a totally solid game, or something else.  Something has to be better for us in a marked way than the priot two games vs. 'kron this year.

You're not going to like this, but: You don't stop Treadwell. You just hope he doesn't make his free throws.

I like our chances this evening, a ton. I look forward to a ridiculously strong effort from the Bobcats. They've been here before, vs Akron in fact, and a heavily laden senior lineup is a huge advantage. Plus, "we" tasted the Sweet 16 and now the chance to dance is on the line...i expect the Bobcats defensive intensity to be a major factor.

I sure hope our half of the arena embarrasses Akron's half. I know my Wolfpack (apologies if that's too dated) will be hooting, hollering and NOT acting our age!!

Let's get it on.

I was actually thinking this same thing. One of the best coaching strategies you could ever do is just let their best player get his points. But damnit, you better shut everyone else down. I'm mean totally shut down.

even though he was only 1-6 and turned it over 3 times I really like Baltic's aggressiveness last night.

Forty minutes of full court press.  Bettencourt left in a fetal position.  Cut down the nets.

Me too.  I thought he played a good in-your-face defensive game last night.  I just wish he would go to the hoop once in a while when he drives the lane.  When he passes all the time, he's not perceived as a threat and the opposition drops off to cover everybody else.  He needs to put up a shot from the paint occasionally to at least keep the defense honest.

This is what Christian said last night. He doesn't want the supporting cast to kill them again.

I wish Dan Lowe was here to see this. The O-Zone is killing it at the Q.

Just finished a "where's Abreu? He's in jail!" That was ringing through the arena.

So proud of the students. They are out
In full force.....as is the rest of the Bobcat faithful.

Refs are all over the place, they let everything go for a stretch and then they call all touch fouls for a stretch.

Has anybody seen DJ? Akron is playing him straight up and he's not even trying on offense, seems like something is wrong with him.

I actually like what they were trying to do. Go down low and IMO possibly put some of their defenders in foul trouble. Problem is, Akron wasn't biting and the refs were lenient at times.

Then, late in the half, their shooting touch went bye bye. This is my biggest concern. This team can lose their touch for long stretches.

we're in fine shape right now.  We have the lead and DJ hasn't scored yet.  Great job from big Reg inside...we're boxing out and playing tough.  Keep it up Bobcats, we deserve this win!

Akron gets to be as physical as they want on defense but Ohio can't touch someone without a foul getting called.

What is it about the first ten minutes of the second half that keeps happening to the Bobcats? They can still win this, but they have to want it! Go OHIO!

7-9 point lead in first half has now been turned around to 7 point Akron lead. Solid coaching and pride in a program tonight. Blame crap every game.
