This will be a classic MAC battle, down to the wire, with the 'Cats coming out on top.  Tree is the key, IMO.  Zeke was not in the play drawn up at the end against Kent.  Tree is a monster and he is who worries me.  Keep Tree somewhat in check and play with the defensive intensity we did tonight, from the get-go, and I'll be happy.

This post on zipsnation nails the best plan for 'kron:

Western Michigan tanked early against Ohio. At half time WMU concocted a plan that nearly won the game for them.

Double team DJ Cooper nearly every time he touches the ball on offense. This simple plan nearly took down OU.
Had the deficit (seventeen) been a little smaller or the game a few minutes longer WMU might have pulled the upset.

The Zips brain trust watched the WMU/OU game from courtside. Hopefully they spotted the double teaming and the results.

Might be tougher for 'kron to execute though - but JC and Coop better have a plan. I think it's gotta start w/more and quicker offense movement from the team, and split the coverage/more/quicker dribble penetration.

Pressure the Zips ball handlers ad nauseum. Zeke will get his but good lord willing Id predict foul trouble. IMHO he got away with a couple late fouls Sat. He had some great stops but on other occasions he made bodily contact with 3 and 4 fouls.

Western was doubling D.J. at the top of the key the entire first half too, weren't they? And he was dribbling right around it. Western definitely played better defensively in the second half, but I don't think it was because of the double team. They did it the whole night.

We will need a combined 20 points from Ivo and Nick to win this game.

we need a 40-minute complete game haven't seen one of those since when? Marshall? OUr team is the best team when they play to capacity. saw it in the first half last night. didn't see the press last night because they didn't need it. i would expect more pressing from the Cats tonight.

i think you'll see DJ and Stevie tonight a little more to take the double team out of play.

I'll take our best game against their best game. i think we win that match-up.

Akron just goes with Harney on Coop and not a double--why change when you are 2-0 in that scheme?

Ohio wins this one IF as in each of the last two loses to the Zips two of the Zips do not have career nights in shooting percentage.

The key is Coop and Nick and Walter duplicating last evenings performance and low turnovers.  I expect a few pickpockets of Harney when he handles the ball and Betancourt falling all over the place as he trys to defend or handle the ball.

Really Cat fans.  If you are within a 4 hour drive and don't make this game and you are not in a sick bed your butt should be in the Q this evening.  The atmosphere last PM was simply fantastic.

we need to show we can come out of halftime with solid adjustments and a sharp mental edge. We've been up 13 and up 19 in the first half against Akron, we'll get up on them again tonight. But then we have to stay up.

Yes I agree with all these posts.
It could come down to coaching adjustments, a new game play that we haven't shown Akron before. Mix the D up etc.
Walt was a beast last night. I didn't realize he had 11 rebounds till I saw the box score, WOW. He played his best game of the year last night. I remember that he got hot at the end of last year as well.

Bobcats are 6-1 all time in the MAC Finals. Akron is 2-4. Time to continue that trend.

I have to give it up to Dambrot, as this will be Akron's 7th straight trip to the finals.

Two "Flashtickets" in section C125. Check.
One motel near Hopkins airport. Check.

Leaving for Cleveland in the next hour or so. Can we finally figure out Akron this year? If we play like we did to start/finish WMU or how we played the 1st half against Kron at home...then yes. This is going to be a war.

Let's hope I'm making last minute travel arrangements Sunday night/Monday morning for one final hurrah with these seniors!

So excited. My only regret is that I couldn't find a way to be at the Q today.

My game plan would be to take it time after time right at Zeke with Walt and Reggie.   Tire him out and/or get him in foul trouble.  I don't care how much we fall behind early if he successfully blocks a bunch of the shots.   Just keep going at him.

Genius comment by the Akron fan. I'm sure Dambrot and his staff read that and knocked off for the rest of the night,. Had the deficit been a little smaller or the game lasted a little longer, we might have lost. Brilliant. Just brilliant.

How do we stop Treadwell?

I think we double every time in the post. Play Zeke straight up, but double Treadwell. Also, I think we should press more.

Treadwell's motor never stops. He crashes the boards. He also came up with a huge steal late in the game when he ran at one of Kent's guards and knocked the ball away. His only flaw is his foul shooting.

Huge game and I'm sure it'll be yet another classic. So upset I'll be at work, but at least I can watch at work and have a legitimate argument it's for work!
