Is the actual word "suck" the vulgar part or is the connotation behind the word "suck" that is considered vulgar?  Would it be better for the ozone to say "hey ref you perform fellatio!"?

Yup, take a look at this and continue standing on your holy soapbox of "sucks is bad, mkay."

JSF - I have a request.  I want you to tell your wife "you suck" and say it like you mean it!  I want you to tell your mother "you suck" with meaning!  or your father for that matter.  Better yet, go see your boss, especially when you disagree, and tell him/her "you suck" like you mean it!  Then let me know the results that you get with this little experiment.

Please do this, video tape it, and post it to YouTube.

I suggest the use of the word "blows" from now on.

Nice to see Mizzou has a rape culture / Blurred Lines problem too.

Maybe Ohio State fans should worry about their own problems with cheering and leave us alone?

Is "suck" my favorite choice of word?  Not at all, but it pales in comparison to other things I've heard from various student sections and adult fan bases.  I've taken my 6-year-old niece to college basketball and football games.  I like to think of those venues as "kid-friendly" environments but can handle an occasional discussion with her when she asks me "what is that word they are saying".  A brief explanation that it was an inappropriate adult word, never to say that in school or in front of mom or dad, followed by a way to easily distract her and move on to something else usually does the trick.

I want the student section to be loud, involved and show up in good numbers.  I realize I won't agree with every thing that is said and if something is said that offends me, I can tolerate it enough to let it slide.  Be creative, be loud and support the team.  I'm much more offended by a student wearing an OSU shirt to an OU game than an occasional "you suck" chant.

Now let's keep the momentum going and beat Mercer tonight.

I think you've got it down.  Yes, by and large there is going to be no issue with it being "kid friendly", but given that it is a COLLEGE and there are thousands of young adults there it's not going to be a church no matter how much the out of touch and/or rich alumni want it to be.  There's going to be some mild stuff like "sucks", and you may get the very occasional "BS", though that is one they at least do try to avoid.

The atmosphere will never improve past "largely kid friendly", and honestly that's much better than you're going to get at most schools IMO. To expect anything more is wandering into the range of delusional.

I'm looking forward to this person's letter to the Dispatch about the double bird flipped by the OSU OL to the Michigan fans on national TV.

May have been a sweater vest recruit so cannot only bang on Urban..In other words a lack of character is a common trait in Columbus.

I put this on football board, but see the incident has made it here...OSU fans can celebrate this wonderful moment by owning the shirt...at least until OSU or Ohio attorneys contact this company:

Absolutely classless.  Ohio State fans seem split after reading a couple boards.  I wonder how we would react if one of ours did something like that given the same circumstances.

I wouldn't suspend him, but a punishment of some kind is on order. At the very least, a public apology.

Something like this, perhaps?

I would like to apologize to The Ohio State University, The University of Michigan, my teammates, my family, the fans and the TV viewing audience for my behavior during yesterday's game. Wearing the scarlet and grey uniform is a privlege and an honor. I let my emotions get the best of me and didn't conduct myself properly in the heat of the moment. My actions do not reflect who I am as a person and teammate. I love The Ohio State University and appreciate everything it has done for me. From the bottom of my heart, I am truly sorry and hope everyone can accept my sincere apology.

I would rephrase it a little bit-

I would like to apologize for attending The Ohio State University. I ran out on the field Saturday and started assaulting people like a jackass and was immediately ejected for my inexcusable actions. That's when I responded by making an obscene gesture for all to see. However, instead of being rightfully condemned for my behavior I've been turned into some sort of folk hero by an ignorant fan base that is known throughout the country for being an aggressive, arrogant group of jackholes. Their overwhelming support of my inexcusable actions does nothing to help me learn from my mistakes or grow as a person, it only encourages more inappropriate behavior from me and others who witnessed it. I apologize to my friends, families, and loved ones for making the regretful decision to attend this deplorable, detestable excuse of a school.

I would expect OUr coaching staff to make a player to sit, at least for a quarter or a half.  As for the fans, I'm really amazed that I've seen a number of folks who think it's great that he did it.

Spot on.  It's not like Ohio fans would EVER condone behavior that represents the university in a negative light....

Do you really equate those two situations? One involves a fake fight between two guys in cartoonish costumes. The other involves a real fight with actual pain inflicted and a guy ejected, at which point he decided to flip off the Michigan crowd and throw a temper tantrum. One seems a lot worse to me. And yes I would condemn the behavior if it was an Ohio player--in fact, I would suspend him for an entire game.

1. It wasn't a fake fight.
2. What actual pain was inflicted by this guy? (other than the pain of watching a 300-lb man act like a toddler who doesn't get his way)

Both were embarrassments to the university on a national stage by rogue students, yet cheered on by fans in message board posts and immortalized in t-shirts.

I don't equate the two situations at all, but then again I don't have anything to lose if Ohio gains enough prominence that people nationally are able to distinguish between Ohio and Ohio State.

Just imagine what would happen if all the Walmart Ohio State fans who attended Ohio University started getting called out for not supporting their own University by people outside their own University.
