Trivia Question:

This is the 2nd transfer from Creighton that OHIO has landed.

Put on your memory caps as you'll have to go back to the deep recesses of your mind to pull this one up and tell us who was the first. (Excuse me if there had been others, I only know of one other) I asked a similar question when OHIO met Creighton in the round of 32. Deja vu all over again.

Count me in as all in on Mitchell. I think the bigger question now is what does this mean for Sheldon? It was quite obvious that he was nowhere near being ready as a freshman. This pretty much takes him out of the rotation in my opinion as a sophomore. Not sure if he redshirts or looks to go somewhere else at this point. Clearly the coaching staff felt like we needed better protection behind Hunter next year. And the answer wasn’t Sheldon.
We shall see how this works out, but compared to previous transfers, not in the same league numbers wise. Just saying.
Devon Baker came here with 1300 points and ended up being "meh." Bean Willis had a big profile and we all know how he did. Let's wait and see how Reef does on the floor.
Baker is a good bench player, no need to put him down. He saved our bacon in several games this year.
I wasn't trying to put Devon down. He certainly had some nice games for us. I was comparing him to Shereef in terms of expectations. Some people on here are down on the Reef signing because his stats weren't mind-blowing (Walt Offutt's were not great at osu either) and Devon was a 1,000-point scorer with high expectations who came here and, in all honesty, did not play like a superstar. I think we all expected him to do more than average 7 ppg off the bench. I liked Devon and thought he was good. But I had the hope he would be a Malique Jacobs type guy and he was far from it.

So did we confirm he has 2 years of eligibility? Bonkers to me. He was at Creighton a full 4 years. Is he going to get his doctorate here?

I still maintain we can't assume Miles is coming back, this only adds to my uncertainty.

Different transfer outlets have reported 1 and 2 years left. He only played 6 games due to injury his junior year; so, I think that’s where the second year would come from.

Miles is coming back, he even commented “welcome Brody 🤝” on Shereef’s commitment post. Miles is an undersized combo guard, Shereef is PG. The latter’s addition has no impact on him.

Shereef Mitchell is a strong addition to the program. I understand Ohio already has a group of talented guards but he's going to see the court a bunch.

Mitchell didn't transfer to OU to play sparingly. I would venture to guess he'll see 20+ minutes a game and be a decent contributor on both sides of the court.

I don't care if he starts or is the first person off the bench. An addition like this allows Boals to play the hot hand and play four guard lineups if that's something he wants to explore.

Mitchell is a former top 250 recruit. We've seen guards with limited production at power programs come to the MAC and have great success. It's too early to project how he'll fit in but I'm excited about this addition.

I believe Ohio is going to be a Top 100 team next year with an even higher upside depending on the development of Brown/James and if they can land Myles Foster.
+1. I think all 5 guards will see 20+ minutes a game. I agree, it wouldn’t surprise me if Boals used four guard lineups often; after FAU’s Final Four run deploying these types of combos.

Myles Foster watch is officially underway. I also agree that if we bring him into the fold, the upside of next season’s team is significant.

If we get Foster we have a rotation of Hunter, Mitchell, ABrown, MBrown, James, Foster, Wiz, Clayton and Ezuma and/or Hadaway. I am good with that!!!

Miles is returning. One scenario no one has considered is whether Olumide entering the portal is 100% intent to leave or exploratory.

Shereef officialy earned a medical redshirt and played during the Covid year. I don't see how he doesn't have two years of eligibility. And I also don't necessarily see how this is writing on the wall for Ajay. Three point guards on the roster is not a bad thing for continuity at the position as long as they're in different classes. I would now have my doubts that the offer to Myles Che is commitable.

Guessing he didn’t want to leave Cali. I’m actually really intrigued by TJ Nesmith of Lenior-Rhyne (D2). I know it’s a level below; but, he’s physical/athletic on both ends of the court (found some highlights). His 36 blocks last year were more than our bigs combined (34). Whether it’s him or someone else, would love to add this type of player profile.

Really want Foster as well. This leaves us with one more scholarship to use correct? I mean we still have to use that scholarship on a 6’9 guy or taller I would think. We don’t have a center on the current roster that can give us quality minutes.

Out: Wilson, Roderick, Baker, Olumide
In: Nicol, Mitchell

I count two left unless I have missed something. Granted, I have not been playing nearly as much attention as most of those who are posting in this thread so that's quite possible.

Correct, we have one left. Agreed, see my post above about TJ Nesmith, who we’ve expressed interest in. He’d fit that profile.

DAVE TEREK. From Mount Lebanon, PA, a 6-4 shooting guard. I was there when he arrived on campus, the year he had to sit out. I was gone by the time he averaged 8.8 points during the 1975-76 season.

I think they have something cookin with Foster... but this is where I think we can really get a edge on the rest of the MAC.

Go out there and get me a Maurice Ndour... Tommy Schmock. I wanna see someone HUNGRY at D2 who just needs a shot.

I'm not saying I wouldn't have offered Wiz... I'm just saying someone like Khalid Gates out of Slippery Rock might've been a better fit.

Kid was a JUCO All American - 15.6 points / 7.8 rebounds / 1 block

or Nordin Kapic, Freshman for LYNN College, 6'8" 240 from Vienna, Austria.

19.4 points / 10.3 rebounds / 2 assists

38% from 3
53% from FG
2 fouls per game
30+ minutes a night

The interest is pretty close to the hand dryers in the Convo restrooms thread or the soft pretzels at the concession stand thread.

+1. I like Khalid Gates makeup. There hasn’t been an update on him in weeks. I still feel like there might be a height discrepancy with him — but he’s still available. Nesmith is supposedly 6’9. That said, I agree that one of these D2 scrappers would be a great addition.

Curtis Jones of Buffalo lands at Iowa State. Princeton’s Keshawn Kellman to FGCU. Significant bc FGCU was one of the schools in on Foster and it now has no more remaining schollies according to Twitter comments.
