Zach Loveday is in the portal. Seven footer from Gallipolis. In three years, could never crack the regular rotation at Baylor.
Be interested in how this works out. He did not give mid-majors much time in the initial process.

What surprises me - is no INCOMING portal guys. (a lot of names out there, but no visits?)

This Lars fella would be a dream.
Do we know for sure if there have been no visits?
We have people tracking Boals follows and unfollows, thought for sure someone would know if we had a kid in the building lol

Somebody get on FlightAware ASAP.

Not a transfer, but we offered a PG from Skill Factory’s Myles Che. PG, 2023. Not sure on the usage of 1/2 remaining schollies. I only say that because I feel like we’re a proven big and a wing away from being pretty damn good as constructed. Original USF Commit.

USF de-commit who also had a handful of offers from decent mids. I like that we still have our eyes on high school seniors.

I think he’d be a great add; just not where I expected a schollie to go this off-season with so many front court questions. Che would likely take Sheldon’s minutes; so you’d have to wonder what that does to the latter.

Blast from the past, former Ohio recruit Zane Meeks is in the portal. This looks to be a grad transfer situation as he's played 4 years already at Nevada and San Francisco.

I don't think we should go after another point as we already got Sheldon / Estis for next season along with Miles. Main priority: Big

This would be a good add. 2022-23 stats are this: 47.5% from field, 32.4% from three, 73% FT made, 5.1 RPG for 148 total RB's, 10 BLK's, 3 STL's for 315 pts.

With all due respect to the Estis family, having the younger Estis on the roster should have absolutely no bearing on who OUr coaching should and should not recruit.

It’s interesting that a staff who has a strong track record of developing PG’s; is looking for another instead of rolling with Sheldon another year as the backup. Che wasn’t an available a month ago; and we’ve offered so that says a lot about him and also how they feel about Sheldon imo.

I do agree, I saw these two schollies going towards size; but between the Che offer and the interest in the NAIA All-American PG (Malik Edwards), it sounds like one is for sure going to a PG of some sort.

I don't necessarily see it as lack of faith in Sheldon, but rather making sure you go into next season with two point guards who are not new to the system. With 13 scholarships at your disposal, I don't see a problem with 3 points, 5 wings/off guards, 5 post players.

I know it was an extremely limited sample size with Sheldon because he didn't log a ton of minutes, but I didn't walk away from the season with a lot of confidence in him. Lots of turnovers, and his shooting was not good, especially late in the year. It might have been the BG home game, I know it was a later home game, he airballed 2 open three pointers...to the SIDE. That was startling to me for a kid that I thought was a pretty good shooter. Again, limited sample size, but 1/7 on the year from the free throw line? He only logged double digit minutes in 2 MAC games, and both of those games were in January. I definitely don't want to give up on the kid, but I'm also not that surprised that the staff could be recruiting another PG.

Sheldon had a better than 2:1 A/TO ratio so he wasn't a liability in that regard. He could at least keep things moving when Hunter needed a break. I was very surprised at his shooting performance over the season, OTOH.

Fall 2017: Teyvion Kirk and Zach Butler arrive together as freshmen point guards
Fall 2019: Neither are on the roster

That ties into the point of my thoughts. Rosters are now year-to-year. What seems to be a more glaring hole right now is the lack competent size. With Jaylin, AJB, Elmore, and Miles intact; I just figured the “all-in” approach to this upcoming season would be to pair those 4 with two bigs or a big and wing out of the portal.

Jeremiah Davenport leaving Cincinnati with one year of eligibility. Another Moeller guy. If you want to upgrade the Ben Roderick role with a big wing player at the four, this is a good option.

Your problem? I just think with our track record of developing PG's pretty effectively it's probably not the best idea to bring another into the fray, unless we feel Shelly or Estis aren't the guys to step up in Hunter's place for 24-25. Personally, I feel there is a reason Boals used a redshirt on Estis and not Sheldon. Although, I do think Shelly looked a little out of place at times this season and his shooting did get worse as the year went on. This offseason and sophomore season will be pivotal to his development. On Estis - I'm fully expecting him to mostly be garbage time PG next year but he will get a little bit of minutes. While I am the biggest Estis fan on this page (great kid) I'm not expecting a ton from him as a walkon.

You don't want us to bring in another PG, but you are not expecting much from Estis as a walkon?

Seems right. Good lord.
