The initial reaction RE: Dickinson was Georgetown or Maryland.
Isn't Georgetown in the middle of a coaching change? That would be a weird move to go from UM to a Hoya team in turmoil.

Would be interesting to see him go to UMD after all the negativity he had towards UMD and him claiming they never recruited him, which the prior coaching staff denied. I guess anything is possible now that they have a new coaching staff in College Park.

UNT C Abou Ousmane in portal. 11.1 PPG / 6.0 RPG / 1.3 BPG this year for the Mean Green. Would be a great add for us but can see him going P5.

It's not like they brought in Guy Fromthestreets, they're bringing in Ed Cooley.

Hunter is also from the DMV area.

A lot of opportunities to become THE GUY, potentially the ONLY guy - outside of Cooley of course in DC. He might already have a relationship with a couple Jordan brand guys as well. There's so much more going on behind the scenes with NIL stuff that must of us will never know. Probably a lot of NIL money being thrown around to get this right.

The new coach is known, and signed, so it's not too much turmoil at this point.

I think I just saw that he announced a commitment to, of all interesting places, Penn State.

EMU frosh Orlando Lovejoy now in portal. Also CMU frosh Emil Skytta - makes you ask questions about the culture within McGuirk.

Kaden Metheny from BGSUCKS has also committed to Liberty.

Let me rephrase a tad...you're Hunter Dickinson, an established top-end center in college basketball. Why would you transfer to a team that was 7-25 last year for your last year in a new regime's first year with a relatively empty cupboard?

I get it, he'd be "the man." But he'd be the man in a situation that strikes me as less appealing than the one he'd be leaving at UM.

Might be a name to watch — Lars Thiemann of Cal. He and Boals are now following each other on multiple platforms. I haven’t seen anything on him other than a portal entry a few weeks back.

One year is tough, but give me a 7" footer who has started 70 games in the PAC-12 all day every day.

He had 18 vs Arizona earlier this year. Should more than be able to handle Kent State.

10-5 in the PAC-12 should be easy money in the MAC.

I’m wondering if him being a one year player could be a reason he potentially falls into our lap. I haven’t seen any updates on him. Obviously had a solid year in the PAC 12; but everyone is prioritizing players with multiple years of eligibility/higher caliber grad transfers like Hunter Dickinson. Might be how we can work the portal to our advantage for proven P5 players, who are going under the radar a bit.

And yet...the college basketball season has fully wrapped up and the Bobcats still have not had a player enter the portal. This seems like something that should pride Boals. Culture must be pretty impressive at OHIO.

+1. We had atleast 5-6 guys in portal by this time last year. Makes me more confident in our guys and the 23-24 season. Still awaiting who will fill the two scholly spots.

Not a portal entry, but Marshall's Taevion Kinsey is entering the NBA Draft.

Man we really missed the boat on this one and I'd like to know how he slipped through the cracks. I went back and re-read the recruiting thread: his final 3 were Marshall, UT-Martin and James Madison. Boals offered when he was at Stony Brook and Saul's staff offered while he was at Ohio.

Here's an interesting one. Logan Duncomb. 6'10 235 transferring from IU. From Cincinnati (Moeller). High school stats: http://gcls.gclsports.com/bkPlayerStats.aspx?player=585695
28% from the FT line at Indiana? 1.7ppg?

A mid-major like FAU didn't beat UT last night with players like that.
Committed to Xavier.

1/80 schools to contact Jonathan Pierre of Nova Southeastern. Pretty sure this is where Sekou Sylla from last year went.

6’9 wing that can shoot then 3. 2 years of eligibility. No surprise his list is long.

I have to agree. No transfer portals as of yet indicates continuity in the program for this falls campaign.

Is there a second portal window like in football? Any hard and fast rules? Or they can pretty much jump whenever they want?

The further the season went the more I felt like we wouldn't have any movers.

ELmore was the big ? in my eyes, potentially AJB looking for sunny florida pastures, but they'll be playing 35 minutes each next season. Hard to turn your back on that. Especially when they're together.

For better or worse, this team has opportunity all over it.

What surprises me - is no INCOMING portal guys. (a lot of names out there, but no visits?)

This Lars fella would be a dream.

Do we know for sure if there have been no visits? I think we’re in the middle of the “dead period” retroactive to 3/30 through 4/6 or 4/7 I believe. After that, players can officially visit again. Don’t quote me, though.

Also — no one we’ve been connected with has committed and if I recall last year; there weren’t any reports on anyone visiting. The commitments we got just came out of the blue.

Zach Loveday is in the portal. Seven footer from Gallipolis. In three years, could never crack the regular rotation at Baylor.
