I don't think we should go after another point as we already got Sheldon / Estis for next season along with Miles. Main priority: Big

LOL too funny. Pretty sure we'd take someone from the portal with experience over Sheldon / Estis. No offense to either player. Don't get too attached to the players.

And we have the first Bobcat in the portal. As some have expected, it's Olumide Adelodun.

With Olumide entering the portal, I have an inkling we might be seriously going after another guard in the portal.

Unrelated to the MAC, but UNC's Caleb Love is headed to Michigan. Huuuuuge get for Juwan Howard.

At 6'6" he was never gonna play guard here. Not sure it changes much.

Yeah - that is more small forward size range, which I think we could be hunting for in the portal. Two more NIU players also entered the portal today in Armandas Plintauskas and Taku Youngblood.

I think it’s inevitable another guard is in the works; whether it’s Che, Mitchell, or another. Two new (bigs) names the staff follows now are Texas Tech’s Daniel Batcho and South Carolina State’s Justin Wilson. The latter seems like a Jon Smith type; might not light up the stat sheet each night but is athletic, physical and can clean up on both ends of the court. Had a game with 13 points, 11 boards, and 5 blocks. I think he’d compliment our stable of guards well.

Batcho seemed to have started very strong last year but then??? As for Wilson, how could you go wrong with a guy with that name… Actually either one of these guys would be great gets… Sign em up Coach Boals!

Not sure on paper Wilson could be categorized as a great get.

He played sparingly in his two years at CC. Now he attempts to transfer from a losing program where he didn't start often and only played in 12 games. He did have very good field goal percentage and rebounding looked fine. But with all the losing and not playing lots of minutes were the results at mop-up time?

Can these guys play DEFENSE? Can they slow down Enrique Freeman?

Batcho played in the Big 12 and went from zero starts as a freshman to semi-regular starter as a soph. That's the trajectory you want to see.

Justin Wilson played in 22 games and started 6. Defensively, he had 21 blocks this past season. For perspective, Dwight had 15 total in his two years as a Bobcat.

Here's a clip of his highlights, seems like he maximized his minutes. https://twitter.com/gbmjusto/status/1643743707970289664?s...

He's also looking for his 3rd team in 3 years...

Maybe he's just looking for the "right" fit, but I see immediate red flags when I look at that. Especially when you come from elite programs where people have entire jobs on staff that are just coddling players. Come to OU, it's gonna be a lot of self-soothing.

Yea, Shereef is 1 year. It’s kind of interesting we landed in his top 4. Two days earlier, we weren’t even on the list of schools that had contacted him/had offered Che. I think it’s cool he played with Jaylin and would gladly welcome him into our stable of guards, but it’s surprising to me he’s open to not starting at a lower level than the Big East for his last year of eligibility.

Edit — Looking through Twitter; some outlets have 2 years left for Shereef and others have 1. Had a year cut short by injury, but spent 4 seasons at Creighton. So maybe it is 2.

Yeah Monroe’s Classmate, I was actually going off the 5 blocks Justin Wilson had in one game which is pretty impressive unless it’s against St. Mary’s-of-the-Woods… And yes, I would like to see some interior defense as well.
As an aside, I wonder how Ezuma’s rehabilitation is going?

Go Bobcats!

I think Shereef could have two years. He was listed as a JR last season. These days could also throw in a grad-year.

I didn't realize Mitchell and Jaylin both played in the Ohama, Nebraska area. That would be pretty awesome for both of them.

Shereef was Nebraska’s Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior.

Could be a fun pick-up, step in to Devon's role.

As long as we can get two big-ish guys with two of the three schollies I think Shereef would be awesome. AJ is more of a MAC small forward and you can never have too much guard depth (EJ, Miles, Jaylin and Shereef). Boals must believe that a couple of Wiz, Clayton, Nichol, IJ or Hadaway can give us some minutes because those dudes are staying as of now. I like it.
