solid road win for the Cats.

I think signature win is a funny way to describe a meaningless game. If I recall, Richmond was our only win over a top 100 rpi team last year so it might be JC's best win last year, but I wouldn't call it a signature win. Nor this one.

3 top 100 wins before Xmas isn't bad, I'll take it.

At this point, you can argue that it's Christian's biggest win as OHIO coach. Quality opponent on road. Call it what you want, he needed a win like this...on the road..against a quality opponent.

Anyway you slice it this was a good win, and perhaps more importantly a road win.

By far, Christian's most impressive win as OHIO head coach. That's all I'm saying.

i didn't notice until watching this video, but the a Spiders coach looked like he was going to take the refs head of as he followed him to the locker room. Considering the shove that got them the second look, I wonder what exactly he was so upset about.

One Temple-like comment on the UR board

"Ohio is a good MAC team, but would be a bottom feeder in A-10."

I am very happy with our ability to win the two close road games this season.  In the past it seems like we lose this close game and the close game at Morgan St.  I think the confidence gained from those two wins will really help us in conference games.  We are finding ways to win on the road in close games.

What in the world?  I kept thinking it was a joke, but it wasn't.  I really wish we had a fan in the Convo that did recaps like this every game.  That was really entertaining.

Didn't see it, but enjoyed listening to Tony C.  My son and I enjoyed a joyous moment in the car when Nick hit the 3.  It appeared to be drawn up that way out of the timeout and I loved it.  I would like to see more plays designed to set Nick up, and I'd also like to see Nick take that shot 1-2 feet behind the arc like that one was.

We are extremely fortunate they didn't put in the put-back attempt.  The guy had a wide open look with plenty of time from about 4 feet, but I think he felt unnecessarily rushed and it was an ugly attempt.  We caught a few breaks, like them shooting 14 for 26 from the line and making some seemingly boneheaded turnovers.  I don't think Richmond played their best, but we'll take it.

TJ Hall 12 minutes, 5 fouls, 5 turnovers, 0 assists.  Ouch.  He is the most volatile player we have, many great games many clunkers.  A lot of the same can be said about Treg (5 minutes, 2 fouls, 2 turnovers).

I'll tell you who IS dependable though - Our starting 5.  These guys are settling in for a good season and bring it every game.  Ndour 8 for 10 is awesome, but Jon Smith seemed to have an awesome game, doing what he does best...quietly being in the right place at the right time.

Also, 18 turnovers but 0 from our point guards.

Since most of the posters on this board are Amateur Attorneys.....and stayed at a holiday inn express.....wouldn't this little highlight montage be illegal? He basically videotaped the whole game. I understand a few clips here and there, but this seems like a straight out violation of the "express written consent" wording you hear at every game. Just a q.

In classic lawyerese:  It depends.  If he bought a ticket and taped from his seat, he may be in violation of the "license" that allows him to sit in the seat.  You'd need to check the language on the ticket or other materials he may have gotten when he bought it.  If he had media credentials, then no, he's not violating anything.  He just needs to have a better relationship with the media people because it looks like he's way down at one end of the media table. In either case, he needs a better audio mix.

I don't know about the litigation, but I do know he is a budding STAR.  You gotta figure he is at the top of the list should a job in the booth become available.

I asked the usher prior to the game if it was ok to go court side and take some video from my phone during warm-ups and she said no problem. Of course that was warm-ups and not the game or the entire game. That link was posted on the fan website and it appears this may be something he does for all games so it must be allowed by the school.

I guess it depends on how far in the past we're talking about. 5+ years ago, in the "Life on the Road" era, yeah, I'd say you're right.  In the last years of Groce and since Christian has been at the helm, I'd say they win more than they lose in these kinds of games.  I haven't looked at the stats, it just seems that way to me.

On other thoughts - I agree about the starting 5's contributions.  I personally keep hoping to see more from Campbell or Monpremier.  I think at some point these two will give more than we're going to see from Setty.  At least on the offensive end.

Finally -- why is there this pressing need on this board for JC to get this "signature win" in a single game?  To me, his signature win is hanging in the rafters of The Convo in the form of the regular season MAC Championship banner.

Apparently Christian thinks so as well since the starting five played the entire last 15 minutes of the game (last 10:26 plus 5:00 OT).  Well, except for the 0:02 that TJ Hall played before picking up his fifth foul.  Not sure I can remember 5 guys playing 15 minutes straight before in college.

And I know that Stevie had at least one turnover.  I haven't looked at the stats but I remember it well.  Bean had just been pulled because he drove into the trees with no apparent plan two possessions in a row only to have the ball smack unceremoniously in his face both times.  What does Stevie do?  The very first possession he is back in he drives into the trees gets hung up and travels.

Good Ohio turnout yesterday.   Big props to RPKirkland for running an impromptu Ozone in Section 7.  Got to meet up with Ziegler79, Bobcat Grad 86, OUBobcat9092, mcbin among others at the Tavern and/or at the game.  Nice to meet Stevie's parents at the Tavern.   Robins Center is a really nice venue that I imagine is deafening when it's full.  It was about half full yesterday and pretty darn loud.

I think it is more they way we have won these games. We have had our poo poo platter in the Oakland game so our road troubles are still an issue. However it shows great mental toughness to win a tight game in the last minute on the road. We stole an ooc game on the road. When was the last time that happened?

The Denver game last year we did not have the mental toughness to win down the stretch. We gave it away or had seniors just not care. Either way I don't think we win both those types of games last year or fight back like we did against $tate.

I do agree with JC's signature is the banner in the Convo. Let's drop the "co" for the next one.

Maybe two years ago when we won @ Terd, 70-68.  They finished 21-14 with an NIT bid that season.

Following Up on the RPKirkland - 4 Person Ozone Section, they were very loud during the Richmond free throws, once starting a very clever VCU - VCU chant which I know annoyed the locals and probably the shooter. Richmond only shot 53% from the foul line!
