Last year after a loss at Robins Center, Temple's Fran Dunphy said "Playing Richmond is not a box of chocolates, that's for sure." Of course, Fran was right, because when you play Richmond, you know exactly what you're going to get. They're going to run a classic Princeton offense with screens and motion and play scrappy defense.

Chris Mooney played for Pete Carril and went to two NCAA tournaments, losing in the first round twice to Big East teams. We all know what happens when Ohio plays Big East teams in the NCAA tournament. But this is irrelevant to Sunday's game, as that Big East only exists on Homage t-shirts.

Ohio has to protect the ball. Richmond's turnover margin sits at 13th in the nation at +4.7 per game.

The Southeast will see record high temperatures this weekend. Sunday's forecast in Richmond is for showers and 78 degrees. After weeks of below normal cold, the Bobcats' bodies have been conditioned to work in cool and dry conditions; heat and humidity will increase the chances for muscle tightness and cramping. This doesn't just apply to basketball players, but also our fans walking the hills of Richmond. Gotta hydrate people.

I hear there will be a significant group of Bobcats heading to Richmond from Our Nation's Capital. That's fan-tasti!. Allow some extra travel time, as I-95 south becomes quite a cluster in Quantico. Probably Mark Harmon's NCIS groupies gumming up the works.

Looking over Richmond's season results, and knowing the system they run, I am guessing this will be a very difficult test for us.

the boxscore for last year's game with them is crazy, only 3 guys scored the whole game.

Winning on the road is always tuff.
We are currently 1-2 and if JC wants to make a name for himself and the program he needs to find the right approach to motivating the players and the appropriate game plan to win away from home.
While I have stated many times I was not a fan of this hire I would like nothing better than to admit I was wrong. Starting with a victory on Sunday would be a good start.

I would think losing only one (1) road MAC game last year would have been a good start.  Then checkout the road MAC records over the past 100 years and you will find a great opportunity to admit you were wrong.

Well, it only took 10 minutes to draw a foul on Richmond's defense.

I'd nearly given up hope Kellogg would hit a shot...congrats to you for draining the winner!

May it be the turning point in your senior Bobcat season with many more heroics to come.

Jim Christian...signature win against quality opponent.
Nick Kellogg=Onions
NDour=beast mode.

Great shot by Nick.  Better transition defense on Lindsay's ensuing drive down the floor. Great job not fouling, was nervous on the rebound put back though.

Ndour with 19, Kellogg and Rico with 14. Out rebounded Richmond by 1 as well. Can't say enough about this road win.

Had the very last shot gone in, we would be screaming bloody murder because that guy flattened Ric to grab the rebound.

I found this quote in their game thread.

Ohio is a good MAC team, but would be a bottom feeder in A-10."

So what does that make Richmond?

I don't understand this sudden fascination with a "signature win." It was a road win against an above-average opponent. Are we in need to define a man's legacy a season and a half into his tenure?

NOt so sure about that. VCU SLU, Dayton,UMAss are the ones that I would think are a step up but the rest of the A10 especially Dusqene, RI, Fordham, Lasalle and St Bonnies are below or at best.... on par with us.

If this is coach Christian's "signature win" as a Bobcat coach then that would be a bit sad.

I do feel this is the biggest win for our team this season to date.

I think a loss today would have made us an above average MAC Team going into January verses one of the Top Teams in the MAC going into January.

Anyway if we can go down to Richmond and get a win in December I think we should be able to go up to Akron and/or Toledo in February, and get a win.

Go Cats.

i was was thinking about this too Borna. I might add GW to the top tier too.  I was surprised to see they're 10-1 with wins over Miami, Maryland, Rutgers and Creighton. (Losing to Marquette)

solid road win for the Cats.

I think signature win is a funny way to describe a meaningless game. If I recall, Richmond was our only win over a top 100 rpi team last year so it might be JC's best win last year, but I wouldn't call it a signature win. Nor this one.

3 top 100 wins before Xmas isn't bad, I'll take it.
