Following Up on the RPKirkland - 4 Person Ozone Section, they were very loud during the Richmond free throws, once starting a very clever VCU - VCU chant which I know annoyed the locals and probably the shooter. Richmond only shot 53% from the foul line!

Thanks guys! I had a blast, and I know my friends did too. Out of the four of us, only 2 were actually OU students. I was a little surprised at just how loud I could bellow. I got told by the older man behind me to "Shut the f*ck up" after the VCU chant. The "Ball Don't Lie" was also so loud you could hear it on the audio stream. Thanks to everyone else sitting around us for getting in with the defense and let's go Ohio chants. It was great to meet you all and I hope we do it again soon.

Side note: The one friend who was from Syracuse said that we were a very good team and he wouldn't want to play us this season. Winning people over, one at a time.

Went back and watched the replay of the game and came away with a few things.   One, that charge call on Ricardo Johnson right before half may have been one of the worst calls I've ever seen especially considering the new rules.   According to the way they are supposed to call it now the defender has to be set when the shooter starts his upward motion with the ball where in the past he just had to be set when the shooter left the ground.  Well not only didn't the defender meet the current standard, he didn't meet the old one.  When Ric started on his upward motion the defender had one foot (right) in the semi circle under the basket and his other one outside the circle on the far side of the basket.  This is a full four or five feet from where he ended up taking the charge.  When Ric left the ground the defender's left foot was now inside the semi circle and his right was outside the circle towards where Ric was driving.  When the ball left Ric's hand the defender was still clearly in motion and not even really facing Ric.  It wasn't until Ric actually hit him that the defender was in position for the charge.   There was another defender that was in good position to take the charge but Ric avoided him and jumped to the side where he should have been the recipient of a couple of free throws.

Watching the game live I thought two of the three refs were hideous all game.  Watching the replay didn't change my impression of the two but I did notice that they were much more even with their hideousness that it felt watching live.   There were a couple of possessions where Maurice Ndour was in the lane for about 8 seconds.  And the one time they did call it on him he wasn't in the lane nearly long enough.   There were two foul calls, one for each team, where the defender literally didn't touch their man who just slipped on the moist court.   They also called Maurice for a travel that wasn't.  In the refs defense there aren't many players who could cover the amount of ground he covered without traveling.

Interesting break down. Pays to go back and look. From what I see this interpretation is morphing as the season is going on as they realize the offensive player has much too much of an advantage.

Your take is even different from that. Good breakdown.

MO covers a lot of ground. One play in thr Evansville game was of note. Seeing that in person I thought he travelled but replaying it in my mind it was 2 steps and up ....but it started at the arc.
