The bigger issue, injuries aside,....Jim Christian is a train wreck.  This program was loaded when he came in and he has literally done nothing with the talent on hand.  The team is one of the most fundamentally flawed I have ever seen.  Turnovers, defensive breakdowns, lack of execution, energy, all things that point directly to a very poorly coached team.....Losing in the Convo?  That just shouldn't happen at the rate it is now taking place.  The Groce to Christian coaching exchange is a bit like having Kate Upton divorce you and then when you re-marry you choose Rosie O'Donnell.

Tears you've shed today, will pause, waiting until tomorrow
Dreams of what could be, come close to me, timidly
There's a brand new day in sight, at that time, 'round about midnight

Life's a game of chance and you're one of the minor players
Look for what you love, the day to come harbors some
Let your spirit stop the fight, at that time, 'round about midnight

Every day is gonna bring some glad times, every day's gonna bring some sadness
Just take what you can from the glad times
Don't measure your pleasure in nickels and dimes

Look back on the day and you'll know when you've been unhappy
Fears not chased away just might have the day
Let your eyes put out their light
At that time, 'round about midnight

lyrics by Jon Hendricks  music by Thelonious Monk

So aside from the fact that I disagree with the basketball aspect of this, it made me cry for other reasons.....Two reasons.

I agree.  I wasn't thrilled when we hired Christian but I think he has done an amazing job coaching this year.  I'm becoming a bigger and bigger Jim Christian fan with each passing game.

Seriously?  Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I won't take issue with that but I would like to know what it is you are seeing from a guy that lost at home to Bowling Green for Crissakes....Help me on this because I would love to have whatever it is you are smoking so I can have some hope for Ohio Basketball in the future under this clown's direction.

Compare the Groce road MAC record to Christian's road MAC record, then calm down.

And for what it's worth, say this team goes on a run and makes the NCAA tourney...how would this season compare to Groce's two NCAA tourney run seasons?  Pretty much identical?  Consider what this team lost last year to "graduation" and what this year's team has lost to injury and it's remarkable that they have 19 wins right now.

We just graduated our winningest Senior class ever and we are still about to hit 20+ wins. Before this season, many were skeptical that we would even be in the hunt for Top 4 in the MAC, and we are there despite some very costly injuries.

Finally, Christian is recruiting very well. Very, very well. Christian is aiming for a higher caliber recruit than this program has traditionally tried to bring in AND more importantly he is signing some of these kids. Looking at the incoming recruits, I think the future is very bright. We have only got to see one of his recruiting classes at Ohio, and we have one player who looks like our best shot at an NBA prospect in a long time.

These two statements are meaningless.  Yes we won more games but we also played more.  Give me winning percentages and then we can have a fair comparison.  As for 20 win seasons, when you play 30 or more games you should win a minimum of 20 if you're any good.  That said, with all of the injuries this year it's tough to criticize the coach on his book of work.   A situation here and there yes, but for the whole season - I don't think so.

The school record for home losses in a season was set under John Groce.

Good grief.  Sorry dude.  This is just plain crazy.  OHIO was 14-2 in the MAC last year and lost in the MAC Finals. Then, graduated 4 seniors.

You are way over the top with this assessment.

Interesting.  What season and how many?  Larry lost 7 in the 97-98 season when we only played 26 games with 11 at home for a home losing percentage of 64%.

UMM..in terms of recruiting...Christian doesn't have a reliable starting point guard heading into next year. I said before the season started that Stevie is not a 25-35 minute guy. He's more like a 10-15 minute back-up. We've dissected BEAN's ability. Point guard isn't his position.

Do you guys really feel that good at POINT next year with these guys? He better bring in a legitimate point guard that can play 28+minutes per game next year. The Christian era will be defined by the next "true" point guard he brings in.

Firstly, I think Stevie is starting next year.

That said, I agree that we need more depth at PG next year.... We have 4 signed LOI's for next year and 5 open scholarships. We have offers out on a number of point guards who are currently high school Seniors. In all likelihood, our 5th recruit is going to be a PG.

I feel very comfortable with Bean and Stevie returning in addition to the likely addition of a freshman point guard, especially when you look at the caliber of players Christian has a record of bringing in.

As I mentioned, the recruits Christian has already signed are of a very high caliber as are the recruits we are targeting. He also has a good track record at both Kent and TCU when it comes to recruiting. For a number of reasons, I believe our program is in a better position to recruit than either Kent or TCU. I feel Christian feels the same.. I think that is a big reason he took this job.

Right you are.  8 out of 19 home games for a losing percentage of 42%.  Not quite as bad from a percentage standpoint as Larry's debacle.

Did you go to happy hour early? If so, I'd suggest not posting as if you'd been on Court Street for 3 hours.  Winning 20 with this year's team, and with the injuries we've had, is a very incredible accomplishment. Groce is long gone and now struggling at Illinois.

#TeamChristian

This season has REALLY made me appreciate the 14-2 record in the MAC last year.

Securing N'Dour, Wilkins, and Owens makes me very excited too.

Stevie/Bean will be similar (but likely improved?) from what we're seeing this year. I think we'll have plenty of players capable of handling the ball, anyways. Khari Harley is a natural PG from what I've heard.

Groce=shelf empty..Stevie Taylor and who else here from the junior class recruited by JG?

Ha, DJ Cooper by law should be paid three quarters of Groce's Illinois contract.

Mr. OUAlum85, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response, were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Harley is NOT a PG.  He is a 3 and the staff is very happy with his progress and feel he will be a major factor the next 4 years at the 3.  He is an outstanding shooter
